I know there are a few of us on BT that are fragrance addicts, so I thought it would be nice to have a dedicated place where we can share our thoughts. This is not to take away from the lovely What Are You Wearing Today, Fragrance Edition thread, but more a place to post longer reviews, chat about new brands or releases, and just shoot the breeze on anything good and smelly For me, I recently acquired 2 new decants that I've been anxiously awaiting. Ever since Lachaton mentioned that MMM was releasing a new scent called By The Fireplace I've been itching to get my hands on it. My decant arrived yesterday, so I'm looking forward to marinating in it this weekend. Secondly, I recently picked up a tiny sample of Shiseido Nombre Noir. Apparently it is one of the most expensive failures in perfume history - made by Serge Lutens for Shiseido back in the 80s. Of course, with a backstory like that, I was dying to get a sniff What's new on your scent radar? Do tell!
I'm one of those gals that are obsessed with fragrances and have about around 50 60 70 80 and still collecting...(if you want to call it that.) So I would like to know what are you wearing today? I'm wearing Obsession...(hahaha kinda fits this thread, doesn't it? )
This is the one with mini rollerballs of all seven fragrances in the line -- Midnight Fleur, Amazon Lily, Dahlia & Vines, Verde, Indigo, White Sandalwood and Paradise. My faves are White Sandalwood (the one I was most intrigued by & wanted to smell), Midnight Fleur, Verde and Amazon Lily ... in that order. I find Dahlia & Vines way too strong, like you could smell me coming a mile away if I wore it. Indigo is meh. I almost used a 100 pt perk to get one and now I'm glad I didn't. Paradise is somewhere in the middle. What are y'all's faves of the newer scents they've added? Anyone else purchased the sampler? I will probably buy the full size of White Sandalwood with the $25 off coupon next month. I want another heavier, fall/winter scent in addition to Nirvana Black that I already have. I wanted to smell White Sandalwood to make sure they weren't too similar and they're not.
Hello my beautiful people! This post is inspired by LCResz's recent thread of Perfumes and Oils Collection: http://community.sephora.com/t5/Fragrance/The-perf umes-and-oils-collection/td-p/1451444. While I love perfumes, I don't have much of a perfume and oils collection. I am more of a mini perfume collector. I am obsessed with minis and I started last July. And I think that I have collected quite a few! I don't really care much about brands of perfumes or how it smells, but more about what the bottle looks like. Here is my mini perfume collection! I have it stored on top of a Pier 1 Hayworth Collection Lingerie Chest (but I use it for jewelry and makeup storage!) I am going to run out of room soon! I would love to see your mini perfume collection!
I have been searching for a good vanilla fragrance forever! Any recommendations? I have tried Jo Malone vanilla anise, Diptyque eau duelle and Tom Ford tobacco vanille. I do like the Jo Malone one, but it's discontinued Any other suggestions? I'd prefer niche brand Thanks!
After doing some heavy browsing on LuckyScent trying to find some new and interesting fragrances, I came upon their Fragrance Fitting Questionnaire and I thought it would be fun to see all of your answers! Also, I thought it would be a great way for us to recommend scents to each other. Here's the questionnaire (from LuckyScent's site). I'll post my answers in a reply below, and I hope you do, too! 1. Who would you cast to play you in the movie of your life (not necessarily an actor. Could be a musician, writer, politician, athlete, celebutante, historical figure, criminal, etc. We'll provide them with acting lessons if necessary)? 2. Are you looking for a signature scent? Or are you looking for a scent to wear for a particular occasion / mood / climate and if so, please describe. 3. Choose up to five words that appeal to you: girly sexy, masculine, fresh, ethereal, refined, comforting, airy, opulent, classic, exotic, minimal, intellectual, macho, womanly, contemporary, fun, sacred, elegant, natural, stylish, romantic, earthy, flirty, cozy, effortless, complex, energetic, vixen, unique, youthful, clean, understated, natural, rock 4. Are there any fragrances you currently love or have loved? If so, please list a maximum of five. 5. How would you describe your clothing style? 6. What would you do on your perfect day / evening? 7. What do you want for you birthday this year? 8. List three smells you love (not perfume). 9. What would you like for dinner tonight, including drink?
I've used and loved LILY since it came out in 2012, but it seems to have been discontinued. I love spicy scents with floral notes. Any recommendations on what I could try that would be similar? I'd love to find a fragrance that's timeless and won't be discontinued anytime soon. Thanks for your help.
So I just made VIB and decided to use my 10% off welcome kit. I was beyond disappointed when I received a fake perfume today. I mean the scent doesn't last 1minute compared to the real deal. The label is crooked. The spray sprays out in a cloud like poof, feels flimsy, and is even crooked. What's up with all the fake perfumes everywhere? Has this ever happened to anyone? I feel like all my trust is shattered.
Anyone else notice that Marc Jacobs Mod Noir smells almost identical to the drugstore scent by Coty called Sand and Sable? I got a sample of the Mod Noir and used it this morning and it instantly took me back to my high school days when all I could afford was drugstore cologne. It just surprised me, I guess I expected a more sophisticated scent from the Marc Jacobs line.
I feel like I've been using the same perfume everyday and I need suggestions for a new one! I've been loving Versace Crystal Bright but I want to try a new scent. Anything similar to that scent would be nice xoxo.
SO I bought the MMM Discovery kit this morning. You basically get a rollerball for $10 when you buy a MMM perfume. No promo code. It's an ok deal. But Sephora won't let me use my 20% on top of it, making it a very crappy deal. It's a gift set, why can't I use it along with my 20% off? It would be a much better deal to just buy the bottle + the rollerball. I will be returning it, of course.
I'm on the market for a sweet smelling, but mature, perfume. I have been loving Viva La Juicy, but I'm getting tired of it and want to try something new. I don't really care for super sugary scents (think cotton candy), but I love warm scents (think vanilla and caramel). Any suggestions?
Okay so, this may be the most commonly known thing in the world, but I'd never know it. What is the difference amongst the different kinds of perfume? (i.e. parfum, eau de parfum, eau de toilette, etc)
Hey all, I have recently gotten interested in layering fragrances. I couldn't find a thread dedicated to layering fragrances. Anyhoo, as of now, when I am spending some time at home on days off, I am just experimenting with my fragrance collection. A combo I have found that I really love is Atelier Cedre Atlas layered with Atelier Mandarin Glaciale. The citrus notes of the Mandarin Glaciale tone down the woodsy notes of the Cedre Atlas, and vice versa. It makes a very nice fall/winter scent IMO. Today, I have been experimenting with some of my Tom Ford fragrances. I currently have Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme layered with Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge. Quite liking this combo so far. So if you have experimented with layering scents, put your thoughts below. Which combos did you like? Which combos were just meh? And which combos made you wrinkle your nose in dismay? Also, For those of us who are new to the layering game, what are some of your tips/pointers for choosing fragrances to layer, what should be avoided, etc.
I have been currently in Love with the Black Opium by YSL! It is amazing! The scent is notes of vanilla bean, white flowers, and black coffee & it is a great mixture because I seriously cannot stop smelling it out of the bottle! Its so sexy and feminine and long lasting which is a plus because I hate when I apply a perfume and have to spray some more through out the day! After applying it in the morning and still smelling it on my wrist before going to bed makes me sooo happy! In Love!
Hey all, I have gotten on a major fragrance kick this year. Now that summer is over and the hot, muggy, humid weather is gone, I'd love to expand my 'heavier' fragrance selection a bit. I am going to post some of my favorite fragrances for colder months so you all know what I like. Scents I wear during the fall/winter that are currenly on my fragrance tray...Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, Tom Ford Jasmine Rouge, Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme, Tom Ford Velvet Orchid, Atelier Cedre Atlas layered with Atelier Mandarin Glaciale, Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb, Burberry Brit. I also just ordered a small bottle of Tocca Cleopatra that hasn't yet arrived. A couple of the lighter scents I will wear year round but most of them are reserved for less muggy, cooler weather. Some scents I don't care for. I have some Gucci Rush (used to be a scent I wore all the time). I broke out my old bottle the other day and discovered that I can't handle the scent anymore. I don't hate it but don't really care for it anymore. The only scent I know of that I truly detest is Thierry Mugler Angel...hate the stuff. So based on likes/dislikes does anyone have suggestions for me to test out?
Topazbeth asked about lipstick rules in another thread, and that got me thinking about fragrance rules. You know, like heavier perfumes in the winter or gender specific fragrances... Do you follow them? I've flaunted the season ones whenever the mood hits, but the gender ones are kind of bugging me these days. ScentTrunk accidentally sent me the man's sample box instead of the women's one one month, and I really liked a couple of the selections enough to wear. The whole gender rule just seems more difficult for me to break for some non-logical reason though.
I got a sample of NEST - Midnight Fleur a few months ago and I was obsessed with it, I used it all in two weeks. I didn't need a million sprays to get a lasting scent and people could always smell it a few hours after I'd put it on. So, I decided to order a full size and I can't smell it at all just twenty minutes after applying. I've even tripled the amount of sprays I use at once just to see if I can get the same experience as the sample, but to no avail, I can't smell it and neither can anyone else! Is it possible that I somehow received a defective bottle of the perfume?? Should I send it back and exchange it for a new one?? Any insight would be appreciated!
So, my signature scent has been discontinued. Oh boo. If any fragrance buffs know of anything that smells similar, let me know. OR~ If you have any unwanted bottles of KVD Saint floating around, let me know and I may want to buy it off of you.
