Fragrance Recommendations, please.
I am in search of a new fragrance. I would love some recommendations. I usually prefer EDP instead of EDT, and like classic floral scents that lean a little powdery-musky. I like perfumes that will last all day. Some perfumes I have worn in the past include: Versace Bright Crystal, Coach Poppy, Marc Jacobs Daisy, Chanel Chance, Chanel Chance Eau Tendre, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, Miss Dior, and I am currently wearing Chloe.    I have been been on the fence about some fragrances in the Burberry line, and Tory Burch, so feedback on those would be helpful as well.   Thank you in advance!     EDIT: Here's a few I've ruled out: Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb, Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina, J'adore Dior, & Gucci Envy me.

Show Me Your Mini Perfume Collection!
Hello my beautiful people!   This post is inspired by LCResz's recent thread of Perfumes and Oils Collection: http://community.sephora.com/t5/Fragrance/The-perf umes-and-oils-collection/td-p/1451444. While I love perfumes, I don't have much of a perfume and oils collection. I am more of a mini perfume collector.   I am obsessed with minis and I started last July. And I think that I have collected quite a few! I don't really care much about brands of perfumes or how it smells, but more about what the bottle looks like.   Here is my mini perfume collection! I have it stored on top of a Pier 1 Hayworth Collection Lingerie Chest (but I use it for jewelry and makeup storage!) I am going to run out of room soon!   I would love to see your mini perfume collection!

Can anyone duplicate this Carven rollerball issue?
I called the Rouge line and she couldn't get this screen to come up. It's under just the parfum rollerball, not the big parfum category where you can select sizes. I can see why there are only a few left if you're buying a 0.33 oz eau de parfum rollerball but instead getting a large eau de toilette, after shave balm and deodorant for $25.   Would you want your significant other to smell like Carven parfum? I haven't smelled it, but it definitely sounds floral.

letting you in on a treasure i discovered
I went to Austin, TX last week and in this one particular boutique, I came across THE BEST SMELLS EVER. I looked at the price tag $125 and said "ha" and put it down without even looking at the name. Then as the smell began to develop on me I was like "omg I NEED this." I could even smell it on my arm the next morning. I couldn't find the store again, so I went on google and put in every scenario possible: perfume on congress ave, perfume sold in Austin, etc. Finally...after 2 hours...I found it! The line is called "Juliette Has A Gun." EVERY one of them smells amazing. This brand is only sold in 17 stores in the US. South Carolina, FL, Austin, Houston, San Diego, Rhode Island, and NY were the only states that carry it. I ordered the "Try It Kit" on their website for $14. If you decide to purchase a full bottle, they give you the $14 credit toward it. It's got to be done within 2m. I also found them on ebay for around $80. Hope everyone gets to try them out!!! :-)

YOUR SCENT / YOUR COLLECTION
YOUR SCENT STORIES.   ok i'd like to preface this by saying that i don't intend this thread to be a bunch of navel gazing on my part. i just wanted to start a thread where people can just tell their scent stories. share your collection--or not. share what a certain perfume means to you. a story. why you love what you love. some scents that you ended up loving over time. whatever you feel to share !   andy warhol collected personal fragrances (cologne, perfume, etc). he would buy one, wear it continuously for 3 months, then put it in a box never to wear it again. then, throughout his life, he'd return to the box and smell the perfume, to be instantly transported to that very specific 3 month period of his life. this is one of my favorite bits of trivia.   f ragrance is so personal . subjective. much moreso than makeup, in my opinion (i don't even think that is a matter of opinion !!). i started my perfume hoarding a few years ago, way before any sort of serious makeup collection was developed. a lot of my collection is personal taste and selection, while a good portion of it were gifts (it's well known among family and friends that i'm obsessed with smells). some scents are obviously "me" (i'm definitely drawn to earthy and "darker" scents, for lack of a better term), others are things i'd have never reached for but have come to represent certain eras and are therefore attached to some heartstrings (such as MJ 'lola').   i can't be as disciplined as warhol, but there's still a slight method to my madness. i used to wear one perfume until it was gone, then move on to something else. now i wear a scent  almost  primarily for a few months, occasionally going back to "past" scents when i'm feeling nostalgic or missing something / someone. sometimes it's a happy thing, sometimes it's bittersweet, sometimes it's straight up masochistic. and i love it.   i live in a tiny place so i keep my perfumes on my book/vinyl shelf. some of these i haven't worn in years, but i keep them.   my current "now" scent:  diptyque philosykos (fig) my forever scent(s):  serge lutens ambre sultan and bvlgari jasmine noir favorite floral:  issey miyake l'eau d'issey most nostalgia inducing  1. v&r flowerbomb. it amuses me this took off the way it has, i remember when it was an exclusive at bergdorfs in nyc* and i got my hands on it and felt so special, now it's on everyone (*it was either an exclusive or it was gifted to me ahead-of-release. i can't quite remember, it was 2007ish !). 2. jo malone blue agava & cacao what is missing from my collection:  tom ford black orchid. it'll be mine someday. jo malone blue agava & cacao. any comme des garçons scent (which sephora has started carrying !!). and finally, le labo rose 31 and/or santal 33 personal trivia:  the little box pictured contains samples and deluxe samples. my favorites in there are probably tom ford santal blush (can't afford !), tom ford tuscan leather (can't afford !!!), and givenchy dance--which is very dear to me, it's a sample i got in japan, and i've never seen dance sold in the states ?? it's a perfect daytime spring smell.  best budget scents:  tokyo milk dark, hands down. i have two (can you even see them in the pics ?!), arsenic and tainted love. arsenic is my fave, i've run out but intend to grab it up again soon. not pictured:  jo malone amber & lavender, which i keep in my bathroom as an air freshener ! and rollerballs (only have a few and rollerballs i have i have a full size of)     and i thought some of you would be amused that my perfumes are tucked in below my bowie shelf

Problems with Escada Joyful mini?
I just recieved an order in which I had redeemed the Escada Joyful mini from the DELIGHT promo. "Shopping" for my husband...
Can anyone tell me where I can buy my husband a new nose? I've recently become interested in fragrance. And although I've picked up a few bottles, and a few samples, one scent stands out as my favorite. E and J's Nirvana White. Unfortunately, my husband isn't a big fan. So far, his favorites are Marc Jacob's Daisy Eau So Fresh and Viktor and Rolf's Flowerbomb. I have samples of both of those, but I told him he has to be responsible for buying them for me if he really wants me to wear them. I like them both, don't get me wrong. But White is still my favorite.  I also like Pharrell's Girl. And bought the travel size bottle of that. And he likes it okay, but not as much as the others.    *sigh* What am I going to do with this husband of mine?

How perfume reacts to light
I've been getting accumulating more perfumes lately and really want to display them, however I know that it is a no-no to expose fragrance to sunlight as it accelerates the breakdown of the perfume. I understand that exposure to sunlight is out of the question, but what effect does light from incandescent bulbs have on them? Whenever I read about light exposure, the articles use 'light' and 'sunlight' interchangeably, so I was wondering if the light from bulb would have the same effect on the perfume?

Perfume for work? Thoughts? All ok or not?
I was just getting ready for a work meeting and was contemplating putting on a new scent I have that includes cognac as an element.  And then I thought, hm, not sure I want to smell even a little bit like alcohol at a work event during the day even if it's just my perfume.  Which got me thinking more. Thoughts on appropriate perfume for work?  Obviously we shouldn't be drowning in scent but how much is okay and what scents?  One that smells like tobacco or cognac?   All input is appreciated and especially thoughts on the best scents for work.  Thanks!

Does anyone remember Lola Cosmetics perfume oil?
My absolute favourite scent of all time was a tiny bottle of Lola Cosmetics perfume oil.  It was only sold in Lola stores, for a few years between 2004-2009.  You know when you're wearing a perfume that is so "you"?  It made me feel amazing when I wore it.   For some odd reason LC discontinued the oil.  You can still see people asking about it on discussion boards and FB pages.  I've accepted that LC is never going to start making it again, but I'd love to find something comparable.   Here is the description that was written about the product: "A long-lasting blend of essential oils with top notes of  Bergamot, Currant and Mandarin , middle notes of  Jasmine, Iris and Nutmeg , Lola is undeniably seductive and ultra-feminine.  Patchouli, Oak Moss and Musk  ensure that you'll leave behind a little Lola and a whole lot of sex appeal everywhere you go. Unique, floating  Brassia Seeds  enhance the aphrodisiac qualities of this exotic blend."   I'd love some help from the BT perfume divas.  Is there any scent you could suggest that I might like to try, based on what is described above?

Cologne similar to Green Irish Tweed?
This is a very expensive fragrance by Creed, and I was looking for a cheaper alternative for a friend. Here is the description:    Green Irish Tweed by Creed is a classic Fougere fragrance. One of the signature scents of the house of Creed , this "walk through the Irish countrywide" is a favorite of many celebrities. The fragrance is rich, fresh, sporty and unforgettable. Green Irish Tweed opens with top notes of iris and lemon verbena. The middle notes include violet leaves. The base notes are ambergris and Mysore sandalwood. Green Irish Tweed was launched in 1985. The nose behind this fragrance is Olivier Creed Sixth Generation .   Any suggestions? Thanks!

Eau de Toilette for Men
I recently learned that eau de cologne/toilette/parfum corresponded to the concentration of a fragrance and not to the scent being for men, gender neutral, or women (respectively). So then I looked at all of the mens colognes at Sephora and found that they are almost exclusively limited to eau de toilettes and colognes, where as the womens' are largely eau de parfums. Does anyone know why mens  fragrances as a whole  are less potent than womens?
