Do you have a box full of perfume vials and/or a vanity covered in perfume bottles? Are you the Goldilocks of perfume, just looking for the perfect signature scent? Do you want an opportunity to post daily about how your perfume of the day smells oaky and smoky with hints of blackberry and currant, like a cigar in a whisky barrel rolling through a Mediterranean orchard on a breezy summer morning? If you answered yes to any of the above, or you just want to hop on board for the ride, join us for a 31 days of perfume challenge starting January 1st ! Some of us from the 25 days of lipstick challenge wanted to continue the fun and exploration, and since many of us have so many perfume samples, we thought this challenge would be perfect. If you don't have 31 perfumes or hate everything that doesn't smell like Meyer lemons and fresh goat cream, that's fine--we're just aiming to use the neglected perfumes we have laying around and incorporate them into our perfume rotations. And if you want more perfume vials, there's no better time than now to take a peek at Sephora's samples section. Edit: Anyone can join in at anytime! We're here to support, live vicariously through, and encourage everyone in their olfactory adventures!
I know there are a few of us on BT that are fragrance addicts, so I thought it would be nice to have a dedicated place where we can share our thoughts. This is not to take away from the lovely What Are You Wearing Today, Fragrance Edition thread, but more a place to post longer reviews, chat about new brands or releases, and just shoot the breeze on anything good and smelly For me, I recently acquired 2 new decants that I've been anxiously awaiting. Ever since Lachaton mentioned that MMM was releasing a new scent called By The Fireplace I've been itching to get my hands on it. My decant arrived yesterday, so I'm looking forward to marinating in it this weekend. Secondly, I recently picked up a tiny sample of Shiseido Nombre Noir. Apparently it is one of the most expensive failures in perfume history - made by Serge Lutens for Shiseido back in the 80s. Of course, with a backstory like that, I was dying to get a sniff What's new on your scent radar? Do tell!
Greetings, ladies! I'm looking for a cologne for my husband and BLEU DE CHANEL seems to be one that everyone loves. The issue now is which one should I get? Eau de Toilette or Eau de Parfum? Which one will last all day? Thanks!
Haven't seen that question posted yet. I've been wearing L'impératrice from D&G for about 5 to 8 years (can't remember where/how/when I 1st purchased it, its a mystery) and I really love it, however, I'd like to change for something else. I've been getting samples of Jo Malone, Commodity (hated Mimosa), État libre d'Orange (didn't like any of them, still need to try Remarkable People), and none of my Sephora stores carry the Pimrose brand for me to try. What would you suggest? I want something different because I'm entering a new phase in my life, good one, and want to mentally link it to another perfume, but so far, I don't like anything with strong floral or tonka smells... I'm sure you guys understand. I'm looking for high-end, non-celebrity brands, budget of max $200 for 100ml. Thanks!!
Hello my beautiful people! This post is inspired by LCResz's recent thread of Perfumes and Oils Collection: http://community.sephora.com/t5/Fragrance/The-perf umes-and-oils-collection/td-p/1451444. While I love perfumes, I don't have much of a perfume and oils collection. I am more of a mini perfume collector. I am obsessed with minis and I started last July. And I think that I have collected quite a few! I don't really care much about brands of perfumes or how it smells, but more about what the bottle looks like. Here is my mini perfume collection! I have it stored on top of a Pier 1 Hayworth Collection Lingerie Chest (but I use it for jewelry and makeup storage!) I am going to run out of room soon! I would love to see your mini perfume collection!
I've searched high and low and haven't found a dedicated Jo Malone thread, but knowing how many of us enjoy JM products I though it'd be nice to have a place where we can share upcoming news and our favorites. My all time favorite is Blue Agava and Cacao, followed by Peony Blush Suede. I just picked up Basil and Neroli, which to my nose is a dead ringer for Bobbi Brown Beach! As I love Beach, I think this fragrance is going to be a new fave come the spring. It is different enough from Lime, Basil, Neroli to justify owning both in my collection. Basil and Neroli emphasizes the Neroli while LBM is heavy on the basil and lime, which give it a more herbal edge.
Recently I started enjoying lightning up candles at home. Why didn't I realize how great they smell before? I purchased a couple of them from BBW, a couple from Pier 1, and a few from Ross. I really liked the peach smell from BBW So I started looking up candles more, and I was really surprised when I saw a $80 ones. I think I'd never justify a such price for a candle. Who likes candles here? What are your favorite smells, brands, places to buy them? Please enable me
To all my sweet scent lovers, do any of you know how these two fragrances actually compare in person: Viva la Juicy Sucre and Viktor & Roth Bon Bon? And what are your favorite perfumes that lean more on the sweet side? Thanks in advance!
i remembered that last autumn we had a 'what are you favorite fall fragrances' thread so i thought, with march right around the corner, a favorite spring fragrances could be fun. to be clear, i don't exclusively wear fragrances that are considered seasonally appropriate. but some days i crave it ! and the older i get the more in tune i am with this, as well. florals come to mind for spring, but for me it's when the earthy dirt/green scents reign supreme (though vetivers/citrus concoctions or gardenia don't really pop up until summer for me). my list will have both ! TOCCA - colette . this is more of a late winter / early spring fragrance for me. the way this smells, to me, is the way a grey February / march day looks. it's cozy but on the edge of blooming. so i'd feel remiss to not add it here. DIPTYQUE - philosykos . the ultimate fig green scent. not jammy, fruity or tangy, but more suggestive of leaves after a fresh rain in the warmer air. in my top 3 favorite fragrances of ever. DEMETER - tomato . smells of a wet green garden. it reads tomato leaf more than tomato to me, though both are there. green and earthy, the tomato itself gives it a bit of 'bounce'. (special shout out to DEMETER 'new leaf' which i like to mix it with). an under appreciated fragrance note, it melts into the skin, and smells fresh while not at all soapy. ISSEY MIYAKE l'eau d'issey . the classic anti-angel (mugler) from the 90s, designed to smell of water. fresh white florals that are in no way cloying. if anyone is ever interested in training to nose to like florals (rather than simply smell their mom / grandma when they smell them), this is one i recommend to start the ball rolling. KEROSENE - pretty machine . kerosene fragrances are not for everyone; what i've found is that while most are rather unique, they're not particularly complex, really, which makes them very polarizing (some many people love them because they're very accessible and pleasurable, while a seasoned perfumehead may be craving much more). but i love pretty machine. it's a jasmine bomb which manages to be fun and punky rather than demure and sweet. it basically screams "YEAH I'M A GIRL, DON'T F WITH ME". i'll add more below as and if i think of them. special shoutout to COMMODITY moss (i don't own it--the longevity on me keeps me from purchasing; but i do tend to hoard samples of it)
Hi everyone! Early last Spring I used BI points to order the complimentary Dior bag. It came with a gloss, mascara, and dreamskin inside of a fuchsia "DIOR" engraved pink bag. It also came with a perfume I could not get enough of. I swore it was Blooming Bouquet, as I could have sworn it was a honeyed floral scent. I'd like to re-order it in its full size, however see now that the little sample bottle simply says "Miss Dior Eau De Parfum". I looked up this particular fragrance, and the notes do not seem to match as they do match the Blooming Bouquet? Could this just be me? I may have to take the drive to my nearest Sephora to sample. But if anyone knows which perfume this was and could clarify my confusion I'd be grateful. Thank you!
Anybody know if the Daisy & Daisy Eau So Fresh mini gift set contains spray bottles? I have received minis before that are not sprays but splashes, and I haven't used them for that reason. http://www.sephora.com/daisy-daisy-eau-so-fresh-mi ni-gift-set-P416005?skuId=1904333&icid2=products%2 ... I want Daisy, but I don't use perfume enough to warrant a 1 oz bottle, and it gets funky after two years or so. And I prefer sprays to rollerballs! Thanks
So, my signature scent has been discontinued. Oh boo. If any fragrance buffs know of anything that smells similar, let me know. OR~ If you have any unwanted bottles of KVD Saint floating around, let me know and I may want to buy it off of you.
SO I bought the MMM Discovery kit this morning. You basically get a rollerball for $10 when you buy a MMM perfume. No promo code. It's an ok deal. But Sephora won't let me use my 20% on top of it, making it a very crappy deal. It's a gift set, why can't I use it along with my 20% off? It would be a much better deal to just buy the bottle + the rollerball. I will be returning it, of course.
Anyone else notice that Marc Jacobs Mod Noir smells almost identical to the drugstore scent by Coty called Sand and Sable? I got a sample of the Mod Noir and used it this morning and it instantly took me back to my high school days when all I could afford was drugstore cologne. It just surprised me, I guess I expected a more sophisticated scent from the Marc Jacobs line.
I love Hermes' Kelly Caleche, but its a bit much for my budget. Are there any similar scents out there? Thank you! Hermes' description: A reminder of a visit to the Hermès leather vaults, Kelly Calèche is a light, feminine, joyous expression of leather. It gives a nod to two in-house emblems, and translates the perfumer’s tactile and olfactory emotions into an evocation of leather worn next to the skin, gently tanned by the touch and edged with fresh petals.
This is newest scent in blue bottle. I am super excited to get my hands on this fragrance... At this point, it is only available at neiman Marcus, but it is on back order with no date of arrival!! I have to buy this online due to no store within 200+ miles. Will Sephora be getting this? Or does anyone know where I can locate??? Thank you, denise
