I really like Benefit's High Beam! It gives you a dewy glow and it's not sparkly. A little goes a long way and it can be both subtle or more noticeable!

If you're new to highlighters, I would try the Sephora one. It's affordable and they have 2 color options. One has a more white/yellow undertone while the other has a more pink undertone. Whichever one is up to your personal preference. You can always swatch it in stores or ask an associate to try it on you.

Highlighters can be chosen on a variety of criteria, though highlighters aren't necessarily viewed upon by age limits, consider the types of highlighters available (formulation types) for example and see what type you would feel most confident in working with. If you're more apt to creams and liquids, start your search there, if you prefer powders, begin your hunt there and look to pressed or loose options.

 

You can also choose a flattering highlighter based on your skin tone and its undertones to where your highlighter will compliment that rather than appear too jarring.
