Good Coverage for Acne Prone Skin

I'm starting my first "big girl" job next monday and I am looking for a good, long lasting makeup that can cover my acne prone skin. I scar very easily so I have a lot of old acne scars on my forehead that need a good amount of coverage to keep hidden. I tried the Make Up For Ever Proffesionals Matte and it looked not only too light on me, but it also started to peel and such after an hour or two. I have also tried bare minerals but I seem to sweat it off really easily and it gets pooled under my eyes.

SOMEBODY HELP!?!?!?

NARS foundation - it goes on smooth, covers everything and when your done your face will be flawless and look like you have no make up on. I personally always throw alittle Tarte bronzer (park ave princess) on top and  end with a few sprays of the Urban Decay All Nighter for a great all day look.

Deffinetly the COVER FX foundations.  Cover FX is MADE for scarred/troubled damaged skin! I use the primer, the foundation and powder and it really helps! I have dry skin as well since I use medication under my make up and Cover FX eally works and makes my face look as if I wear no make up at all. I finish off my face with bare essentials powder on top to give my face an even more natural look :smileyhappy: good luck!

Hi Mlhallma21,

Those are all good suggestions and congratulations on the new job.

I wanted to also recommend the Clinique Even Better Foundation SPF 15. It gives you an even moderate-full coverage and it will help to even out your skintone in 4-6 weeks.  It is also dermatologist developed! I like that this foundation gives you even coverage and it will help cover acne scars too.

Even Better Makeup SPF 15

I also suggest using the Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder on top of the foundation. It will help control oil and will is great for touch-ups since it is colorless.

De-Slick Mattifying Powder

I hope that these suggestions are helpful!:smileyhappy:

I think my skin is probably similar to yourse. I like MAC's studio fix line, though I've been giving my face a break from all makeup for some time now to clear up issues. I would start with the liquid foundation and then put on pressed powder. Sometimes just studio fix, other times just this mineral pressed powder, and other times both. But apparently MAC is known to cause more acne.. I've never had that problem, yet.

I'm thinking about switching to something else though because the colors I've gotten at MAC stores/counters look good inside, but are noticeable outside and I'd like something that blends with my natural color in natural light.

Congrats on your new job! :smileyhappy:

I would recommend a good foundation and a finishing spray. Some great foundations are the Laura Mercier Creme Foundations (thats FULL coverage and you can use your fingers to apply... super easy!) or the Cover FX Pressed Powder foundation... that stuff is fantastic and covers up dark under eye circles and acne scars. My favorite finishing sprays are from Skindinavia (you can only purchase these online, but if you want to try Urban Decay's Finish Sprays, it is made by this same company) and MAC Fix+. Finishing sprays help with blurring out any "cakey" foundation looks and helps keep your makeup in place for several hours!

Head over to your local Sephora and ask the SA for a demo w/ the foundations and the Urban Decay finishing sprays =)

p.s. There is a Shine Free version of the Skindinavia/Urban Decay Finishing Sprays if your skin tends to get oily. I don't have oily skin, but I'd go with the Shine Free versions anyway :smileyhappy:

I'm personally a fan of Clinique Acne Solutions foundation and then Stay-Matte Power. I don't have that much scaring to cover up though, mostly dark spots. My co-worker has a lot of scarring and she swears by MAC.
