Benefit Tints

[ Edited ]

I love Benefit and its tints (for my cheeks, that is).  They're not all created equally though.  Yes, they are a beautiful collection of red, pink, orange and purple.  While you can dot, dab or draw a line of Benetint, Cha Cha Tint and Posie tint and take a few seconds to rub them in, you must rub Lolli in very fast to prevent streaks.  I suggest applying it one handed with the other hand up there right away to blend.  You can also apply the tint to your finger and quickly rub it into your face.  Forget brushes.  With Lolli, there is no time.

A customer asked my Benefit brow specialist about the tints today.  When she did not know the answer, I filled the customer in.  She told me I just sold her on the product and proceeded to buy it.  Then, my Brow Specialist started asking me how to work the tints today.  I thought if I can help a Benefit rep, others may have questions.  She had only tried Lolli and had no clue the other three were easier to work with.  Hopefully, other people who start with Lolli are not afraid to try the other three.

Anyway, if you have questions about the tints, post them here.  Someone will fill you in.  If anyone is interested, I can provide swatches as well.

I started with benetint and I just jumped the gun on cha cha tint and it has become my staple lip product. I don't think I'll try lolli because I don't think that color would look flattering on me. But you can count on me having a cha cha tint until the day i die!

Re: Benefit Tints

It really is very pretty.  I love the way it looks on you too. Benetint is the easiest to work with, so I feel people will branch out if they start with that one.  Whereas, starting with Lolli usually stops them dead in their tracks.

Have you tried the lip balms? I don't understand the point in those if you can just use a normal lip balm to give it some moisture. Or even buying benefit's lippies that come in the gorgeous tube packaging.

I have only tried Lollibalm.  It is moisturizing but adds very little color.  You have to really stare to see the color payoff.  While it was far from terrible, it was not good enough to convince me I need the other three either.  I hate the tints on my lips (too drying), so I wish they would create lippies of these shades with more color payoff.

My husband took the pictures for me last night and forgot to resize them before emailing.  He was asleep before I noticed, so I had to wait for him to resend them to me this morning.

Without further ado.

Benefit Tints not blended.jpg

From left to right:  Lollitint, Posietint, Cha Cha tint, Benetint and the Josie Maran Gelee in Pink Escape.  These were applied with zero blending, so you can see the color and consistency.  Lollitint applies the thickest, so it is the hardest to blend.  Cha Cha tint applies second thickest, so it is the next hardest.  Posietint applies at about a medium level, so it is easier to blend.  Benetint is the thinnest, so it applies smoothly and takes very little blending.  As you can see, it disperses slightly by itself.  Pink Escape has a nice shimmer.  Other than the shimmer, it is the closest to Benetint in color and Posietint in blending requirements.

Benefit Tints after washing.jpg

This is what the tints look like after washing (when unblended from the start).  As predicted based on difficulty to blend and consistency of the tints, Lollitint stays on the brightest, followed by Cha Cha tint, Posietint and Benetint.  The Josie Maran gelee washed completely away.  The point here is blend very fast to prevent this, because you will have unattractive streaks and harsh lines that are very difficult to wash away if you do not blend very quickly.

Re: Benefit Tints

I was updating my spreadsheet yesterday and adding in my blushes, I realized I pretty much only use powder blushes. I have a Josie Maran cheek gelee (which was in the Glitz and Glam bag) which I never used yet.

I am always interested in trying new products and being enabled so I would love to see swatches :smileyhappy:

I have been looking at Benefit products lately because they have a lot of "kits" with different products to try out.

Okay, I will swatch them tonight. I sometimes wear cream blush or tints alone, and I sometimes add a powder blush over them (to set and add an extra pop of color).  I opted out of the Glitz and Glam bag, but I did get that gelee in the summer stash bag.  I will swatch that for you as well.
