To be honest, the absolute best thing you can do is invest in a primer that will help close up those pores and prepare your face for foundation: Benefit makes a good one:  http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P264900&categoryId=B70

After this I think you're safe to go in with the foundation of your choice. I would avoid powders at this point, not because of your pores, but because in your 40s your skin will benefit more from the liquid foundation as it is easier to blend and easier to layer.

I hope that helps!

Sometimes, it's not the foundation that does the trick....it's your primer.

You want a primer that will target your skin type. For mature skin, I'd recommend "Korres Quercetin & Oak Age reversing Primer".

If thats not quite what you're looking at, I'd go for Smashbox Photo Finish primer. Its one of my favorites.

You want to find a foundation with a thicker formula or....

...Start at the source! Purchase a face formula that will eliminate your large pores like Dr. Brandt Pores no more pore refiner ($45)

I hope this helped. Good Luck!

i'd have to say the lancome full cover foundation. well any of their foundations, ive tried the full cover one and the tint moisturizer kind that has lighter coverage but for the pores they do wonders. and it looks like my own skin like i dont have makeup on. try a sample and see for yourself if it works for you, ive tried many foundations for large pores combo skin and it lasts all day looking fresh as well. good luck!

The other posters are correct in the fact that a good foundation primer usually does the trick of covering up and disguising pores instead of trying to disguise them with a foundation.

A very good foundation primer to disguise enlarged pores is NARS Skin Smoothing Face Prep which is designed to minimize the appearance of fine lines and pores with just one application.  You can find it at:  http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P261210&categoryId=B70

And just in case you're interested, to help reduce the size of your pores (and not just disguise them) I would recommend Perricone MD Intensive Pore Minimizer which is designed to address enlarged pores caused by active oil glands, dirt, wax, or chronological aging.  You can find it at:  http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P259938&categoryId=B70

I hope this helps you. :smileyhappy:
