Best foundation for sensitive, oily, acne-prone skin?
[ Edited ]

I have battled acne for about 10 years now and while my skin has improved so much over the years.... I have mild acne around the jawline and I don't like to use too much concealer to cover it up.  I'll get the occasionally monthly breakouts on my chin and forehead as well.

I'm currently using Sephora's Instant Radiance foundation because the color is a great match for my skin tone.  However, I was wondering if anyone recommends something else for acne-prone skin.  I want something that is medium to full coverage that won't break me out or feel like I'm wearing makeup.

I want to try MAC's stuido fix fluid but I heard from so many reviewers that it breaks them out horribly!  What do you all think?

Foundaitons I've tried in the past that I can remember...

-L'oreal true match

-Clinique Superbalanced

-Bare Escentuals (used this for about 4 years and for whatever reason, it started to break me out; it's why I switched).

I'd like some of your opinions, high end to drugstore :smileyhappy:

A couple of things youn might want to try:

The new Urban Decay Naked foundation. It is very lightweight. Medium coverage, so you won't be able to cover everything, but there are lots of wonderful skin care ingredients in the foundation itself which will help you with the acne.

Tarte Amazonian Clay full coverage foundation is also great. You'll get to cover more (and it's buildable so you can layer more than once) and if you can imagine the clay's ability to suck oil, you will see what makes this so wonderful for oily skin.

I have also tried many foundations, and I've come to realize that a big part of what makes the foundation work is the powder you use afterward to set it. I highly recommend Tarte's smooth operator powder, again with that clay to help you absorb oil.

Another recommendation for you is the Hourglass Immaculate Foundation. This is pricey at about $55, but it is great with oil absorption, too. Plus, it is a foundation and powder in one. I still use powder after it (Tarte) but it's really a great foundation. Not full coverage, more medium.

Good luck, hope this has helped you.

Hi, I also have "Complex" skin and a history of jawline acne..Terrible scaring. I have had lots of trouble finding the right balance.  I tried Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra in the store recently, and it disappeared yet covers perfectly and it is very buildable, it covered my acne scars, big plus!

I start with Algenist Regenerative Anti-Aging Moisturizer and HD Primer (blue) then pump only one pump out for full coverage or for lighter coverage a few dots in needed areas.

I rotate my facial cleansers because I have "Complex" skin, oily, dry and sensitive. I used to have bad acne and I have that under control by making sure my face is calm. I use Lancome Galatee Confort in the evening and, I love REN Clear Calm 3 for my day cleansing.

Honestly i have the same issue, i think that Make-up Forever HD Liquid Foundation is awesome. it never breaks me out and it leaves my skin looking flawless (seeing as i have ice pick scars from cystic acne!) They have a range of different colours so you'll be able to find your match! As for drugstore foundations, sometimes ill use revlon whipped colour stay foundation. awesome coverage and never breaks me out. hope this helps.!

I have skin that breaks out easily also. And I used to use mac studio fix. And now I Use Dior Skin Forever. It is such a great quality and it doesn't make my skin breakout!

Try Tarte's amazonian clay full coverage 12 hour foundation. I have very sensitive oily acne pro skin and this is the only foundation that lasts and keeps my skin matte all day. I have been using it for a while now and my skin has been doing amazing. I highly recommend it. Its kinda pricey but totally worth it !
