I have very fair skin & color matched as Sephora's lightest 1Y01. I can't seem to find anything that works for me. I am so frustrated. I wrote a post on here once before and received a few recommendations that gave me hope but alas, my face is the same pain in the butt per usual. Not only is my skin fair, but also red and covered in hyperpigmentation from old acne. I also have a bit of ice pick scarring , large pores, and genetic dark circles. Every foundation I try is either too dark or emphasizes the wrong areas. -Makeup Forever Mat Velvet + in Alabaster 15 is what I'm currently using but it seems to move/powder a bit? It's the perfect color when I first put it on but then it oxidizes and is too dark! I'm thinking about switching to a primer like Benefit's Porefessional to see if that helps when worn under the foundation but I'm frustrated. I've been using Nars Chantilly which I like & prefer to the Urban Decay naked concealer. I don't know if I should try mixing with a white foundation but I feel like I should be able to find something that works for me if I'm paying so much money otherwise why not just mix through the drugstore? My large pores & ice pick scarring are also especially on the apples of my cheeks/cheeks and nose so they're front and center. I don't know if something like bare minerals matte foundation would work or be too dark. Any suggestions/insight would be greatly appreciated!
I have tried flash testing from my iPhone camera. Not using the the front face camera. The actual camera from my phone. All the foundations cause a white cast to my face. I've tried MUFE HD foundation , smashbox 15 hour , milani 2 in 1, kat Von d lock it , Mac face & body, Giorgio Armani luminous silk. My mosturizor doesnt have SPF in it. I have tried these foundations with nothing else under or over it to just test the flash back on the foundations. Everything seems to cause a white cast. What am I doing wrong? These foundations shouldn't be causing a white cast.
I'm going to post a picture of me without makeup. Because hey, I love makeup, but I'm also working on embracing my face au naturel, too. None of this "I'm not wearing makeup" when you're wearing a tinted moisturizer, brown mascara, and have a slight flush to your cheeks and lips. I'm talking no makeup AT ALL (No, not even clear lip balm). This is me, about 10 minutes out of the shower. Anyone else brave enough?
Can someone please reccomend a setting powder to use under my eyes and set my concealer? If I don't use powder my concealer creases and does not last, if I do use a powder it tends to make my skin look dry and show all of my fine lines. At 38 I want to 10 years younger not 15 older. Help!
I am starting this discussion because after writing a 3 star review of the new Champagne highlighter and blush palette by Jaclyn Hill and Becca, my review was deleted. I've been going through all of the reviews and it seems like Sephora is deleting any reviews that are less than 4 stars. And I don't mean the negative ones that people were posting even before the palette had been shipped. I mean ones AFTER the palette shipped and people had actually started to receive them. I just gave my honest opinion of the palette (no unnecessary negativity or "hating") and it was deleted. That is so shady to me. Sephora is clearly trying to keep all of the "OMG THIS IS AMAZING!" reviews to boost sales on the official release date. I thought the point of the review section was to give your honest opinion of a product, good or bad. Am I wrong? And I was a little wary to post this because I was afraid Jaclyn's minions would come after me and say I was just being a hater. But I'm not. I love Jaclyn and Champagne Pop is one of my favorite highlighters. I've been subscribed to her YouTube channel for years and I watch her videos on a regular basis. I just wanted to give my honest opinion of the palette. *UPDATE* I think it's important to continue to be completely honest here so I wanted to give an update. I just checked the reviews again and my original 3 star review magically reappeared. Maybe someone saw this post and put it back up? I still stand by what I said about it being deleted though. I know what I saw and my review was definitely gone. I am very familiar with the Sephora website so I really don't feel like this was an error on my part. I suppose it could have just been some technical glitch but it still seems fishy to me considering other people have said they've experienced having negative reviews deleted as well. *ANOTHER UPDATE* Welp, my review is gone again. I see some new reviews from other users that are between 2 and 3 stars so I'm interested to see if those will disappear as well.
Hi! I'm looking for a blush that is a similar shade to Sephora's rose petal no. 08. I believe rose petal has been discontinued so even if it is a different brand if anyone knows of a product similar I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
I've been using my real techniques expert face brush for awhile but it's just not quite doing it for me anymore. Is the beauty blender worth it or is it dupeable with beauty sponges such as the Sephora brand one? Let me know what you think!
Hello! I've been playing with the Armani Luminous Silk foundation and while I like how natural it looks, I find that I really struggle with longevity with this foundation. I've got dry/dehydrated, sensitive/reactive skin and while this doesn't irritate or cause break-outs, it does wear off very quickly by the end of the day. I've heard that allegedly this foundation has a primer built in, but I don't think it does anything for longevity. For dry/dehydrated ladies that wear this, do you use a primer with it? If so, which one? If not, do you use anything to beef up the longevity (e.g.: powder, etc.)? Thank you!
Ok so I finally got through my stash of the Too Faced Secret To No Makeup palettes that I owned and I went to order more but I see they are no longer available. I love these palettes for traveling so I am now wondering what I can use to replace these? I adored these palettes. Any suggestions of a similar palette? I do prefer the creamy palettes versus powder due to my skin type. Does anyone know if they are going to bring these back out? Thanks heaps to everyone in advance for help.
Im trying to find the right foundation shade for myself in the Kat Von D Lock-It foundation but can't seem to know which shade I am. I usually wear the Sephora Collection 10 HR Profection foundation in Clair light 20. Can anyone help? Thanks!
With so many users looking for the right product to use on their fair/pale/alabaster skin, I thought it would be great to start a thread specifically for this. Some of the main questions I see have to do with the following: - Foundation/concealer shades - Contouring - Highlighting I'll be posting comparison reviews and photos of everything I can get my hands on with these categories, as well as any others that people would like to inquire about. If you'd like to give input as well, please list the following: - Skin IQ/MAC ID/describe skin tone and undertones - Skin type - Foundation matches (make it clear what is a perfect match if you have one, and what is slightly off) - (optional, but highly helpful) Photos of your skin with and without makeup, swatch comparisons, etc. Please ensure there is proper lighting, with little colour overcast (like fluorescent lighting). ME: Skin IQ: 1y02 (closest neutral "match") MAC: NC8-10 Skintone is very pale, neutral to cool toned, translucent, prone to burning and freckles. Some surface redness. Cannot tan whatsoever. Type: Currently normal/combo. Slightly sensitive. Prone to dryness/patches and oilier nose. Foundation Matches: - Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer sx01 (99% match; more neutral toned, which evens out my redness perfectly) - CoverFX Custom Drops N10 (same tone as KA SS) - Dolce & Gabbana 60 Classic (perfect match) - MUFE HD Foundation Y205 (ever so slightly too light, but looks super natural with contour or blended with a drop of coverfx n10) - Giorgio Armani Luminessence (slightly cooler toned, great match though) - NARS Chantilly Concealer - DiorSkin Nude BB Cream 001 (slightly darker and too pink, but wearable, especially if wearing contour or bronzer) - KVD 42 Common recommendations that are too dark for me: Urban Decay Naked Foundation 0.5 (too dark for me, but would for for a tone darker than I) YSL (Touche Eclat concealer in 1.5 works though) GA Hourglass Tarte EL Too Faced Smashbox (fair is slightly too dark; would work for some a tone darker than I) Dior Foundations/serums (other than the one BB cream) Too light: MJ Genius Gel cream 010 Foundation comparison swatches in natural light: L-R: Spoiler (Highlight to read) NARS Chantilly Concealer MUFE Y205 D&G Classic 60 KA SSE sx01 GA Luminessence CoverfX Custom Drops N10 DiorSkin Nude BB Cream 001 UD Naked 0.5 NARS Chantilly ConcealerMUFE Y205D&G Classic 60KA SSE sx01GA LuminessenceCoverfX Custom Drops N10DiorSkin Nude BB Cream 001UD Naked 0.5 Contour: WIP Highlighting: WIP Let me know if you'd like any other categories, would like more info, or have any questions!
I've been wearing Clinique Perfectly Real Compact Makeup in shade 134 for years and years but Sephora doesn't sell it anymore. It has been my go-to for as long as I can remember, but I guess I'll have to find a replacement! Does anyone have any suggestions on a similar product from another brand?
A newbie here...I need a primer that is not too shiny. I'm just applying some concealer and contour my face a bit that is all. So I need something that looks pretty natural and is not too "heavy" on my face. Any ideas what I could use?
I need help finding a foundation..I have weird skin tone and have tried on several ...nothing has worked...I have fair neutral undertone, dry skin, medium to full coverage, would like more of a luminous or natural finish...please help! In dire need:-)
Hi beauties!! I'm looking for a powder to set my under eyes. I am currently using the Bare Minerals Mineral Veil. I've used a few others but each powder I have makes my concealer powdery. Or it changes the color of my concealer and makes it orange and gives it a weird bumpy texture. So want a powder or a way to set my under eye concealer that isn't going to change the color or texture of the concealer. I've done the "baking" with my beauty blender and I've used powder brushes and fan brushes to apply powder but nothing is really working. Any advice is much appreciated!!
Hi all, I had an appt at Sephora last week for a 45 min makeover. I mainly wanted them to assess my primers and MANY (expensive) foundations & tell me which went together & were my shades still ok. Well, that didn't happen. Here are the primers I have: Hourglass Veil Mineral & Smashbox Iconic (original). Foundations: Givenchy Teint Couture Blurring Foundation Balm, Makeup Forever HD (old formulation), Makeup Forever Mat Velvet +, and Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation (which I used last summer & really liked). I've read that the primer is supposed to go w skin type (e.g., silicone based with oily skin) AND that primer is supposed to go with foundation (e.g., silicone-based with like). I can't figure out what to wear with what & I am going crazy! Thanks!!
hi everyone! so i'm need need of a change in makeup or just some advice on how to handle/maintain my makeup for the summer. i live in the Los Angeles area and it's already starting to be in the 100s degree weather ! so i'm currently using MUFE foundation along with Dior face primer, however i was just wondering if there was something maybe a bit lighter and quick to use as opposed to putting on my usual makeup. i'm looking for a tinted moisturizer or BB cream to use. or even just another foundation that is light weight ? i could really use everyone and anyones input/advice. Thanks!
I currently use Kat Von D Lock It foundation, but find by the end of the day it has worn off. I use primer and a setting spray, and it still doesn't last. Does anyone know of anything similar that may last longer or have any tips or tricks to make it last all day?
Hi There...I need a foundation for acne prone skin that will not break me out...I would like the foundation to be medium to buildable coverage...I have dry to normal skin type and would like a liquid foundation and a setting powder for acne prone skin. The setting powder...I would like to have add a bit of coverage and color to my skin....thanks for your help!!
is there a foundation that will even out my skin but still let my freckles show through? Right now I have a bb cream and it hides them which makes me look pasty and pale. I love my freckles but not the unevenness to my skin. Any suggestions?
