How many of you contour and highlight? Seems like that's all anyone talks about these days. I just recently tried it and didn't really see much of a difference plus I felt gross wearing that much makeup. I prefer just a bb cream and powder once in a while.
So I have been using aloe vera gel on my face as moisturizer and putting my Maybeline BB cream on top, and then a translucent powder by Marcelle. My makeup stays on all day and it's the right skin tone for me which is SO hard to find being an indian girl. My only problem is my face looks kind of sweaty an hour later despite putting the powder on. I look like I'm wearing ALOT of makeup but I'm not. Any ideas on how to fix this?
For reference, I'm the shade 117 in MUFE HD, Warm Ivory in Bobbi Brown Skin foundation, and Gobi in Nars Sheer Glow. I want a tad bit lighter conealer so that I can highlight the face when I'm highlighting and contouring.
Hi everyone I'm looking for a medium coverage foundation with a dewy finish that's long lasting, I've tried NARS Sheer Glow, and Giorgio armani luminous silk, and nars didn't last, and Armani isn't that dewy. I have combo skin so I need it to hold up in oily t zone. Thanks for any advice!!
So I did a Personal Beauty Consultant Advice thing at Sephora like 2 months ago and after trying like 10 different foundation/bb cream/tinted moisturizers I finally landed on the Smashbox Liquid Halo Foundation. It was the only foundation that I tried that didn't look cakey on me, however I want a way to add more coverage to it. I have the MUFE Full Coverage Concealer and its perfect for the single blemishes here and there but I want something that I could combine with the Smashbox foundation to give me extra coverage on my forehead, chin, and nose. Also, I have combination skin with dry patches of my cheeks, forehead, and chin and an really oily nose. Could you guys also recommend a good primer that gives me a youthful glow since I'm a teenager while controlling my oil? Thanx girls! xoxo
So a while back in Jan and even recently i asked the MUFE location near me if the duo mat was still being discontinued and they said yes. Then 2.5 mons ago i wrote to MUFE to ask them and they just NOW responded with this: "Thank you for your interest in MAKE UP FOR EVER. We have heard our consumers loud and clear, we will not be making any changes to the current distribution of duo mat. The quantities and shades available will remain the same. Please know that your customer satisfaction is greatly valued and we appreciate your feedback." UPDATE: response email to clarify "Due to overwhelming customer response and love for the product, Duo Mat is no longer be discontinued. It is our priority to service you and meet your needs. However, if your local Sephora is out of stock on your favorite shade, you may always place a phone order through our NYC Studio." I hope this is the case as the duo mat does keep me mat longer.
I'm torn between three bronzers: Too Faced Sun Bunny, Tarte matte waterproof bronzer, and Nars Laguna. I am fair to light, and would want the bronzer only to contour with-but not something too dark that it looks dirty. I also need something that will stay through a workout. Thanks so much! (if you have any other recommendations please let me know)
Hey Beauties! I just stopped into Sephora yesterday and was trying my hands out with the newly formulated Guerlain Meteorites! I hadn't tried them previously but have been lemming them FOREVER. I thought that with the new formulation it would be a perfect time to try them out. Long story short, I ended up purchasing the colour 03 Medium. Originally, I thought the colour should be chosen roughly based on skin tone, but one of the Sephora reps said it was more to do with the undertones and redness in your skin. She chose to put 04 Dore on me! It was beautiful, but definitely gave me a bronzed look. For day to day I'd much prefer something illuminating but that won't alter the colour of my skin. I have light-medium skin - more on the light side in winter, but get quite tan in the summer. Do you think I selected the right colour? Any feedback would be much appreciated xox
Hi guys! I am sorry to bug you all, but just recently I started to rebuild my make up collection. I come from Brazil and over there I had national brands that would work perfectly for my issue with deep and dark circles under my eyes. I've been living now in Canada, where due to the extremes temperature my skin became extra sensitive, extremely dry in the winter and oily;combination in the summer. Drug-store cosmetics were causing me all kinds of allergy reaction and breakouts too. So I just started rebuilding my collection from zero buying more high-end products that don't harm my skin anymore. I've been buying a lot of those trial kits from bare mineral, too faced, smashbox, Benefit, etc and have been finding some great and some ok products, but I haven't found a good concealer yet. I tried the "fake up" from Benefit and I tried the "EFFACERNES - Waterproof Protective Undereye Concealer" from Lancôme, but they don't have good coverage on me and they show a lot of lines under my eyes making me look so much older, and not covering the dark circles at all. I'm 24 and need something good coverage to use with my bb cream from Lancôme or my foundations. Something that works well on my summer oily skin and won't make me breakout! If you have any suggestions that I can go try on, I would really appreciate the help! Thanks
Hi everyone! For my daily face routine I moisturize and use the Hourglass veil primer all over my face, Benefit Porefessional around my nose where my large pores are, Revlon Colorstay foundation for oily skin and Tarte smooth operator loose powder. My skin tends to get oily during the day and my makeup just settles in my pores so quickly and it doesn't look very nice! The Porefessional just isn't working for me I guess. Can you please recommend other primers that you've had good experience with minimizing the appearance of pores and lasts through the day?
So after reading so much about the ambient lighting powders, i decided to purchase diffused light. I have fair skin w/ pink undertones and it seems diffused was a solid choice. Since I got it, I'm just not a huge fan, so before I return it, Im looking for suggestions on how to best use it? I have used it as an all over finishing powder and also used it just focusing on my t-zone and cheek bone area. I just feel like it does NOTHING. I don't notice it blurring any imperfections and in the sun light, i can see little flecks of sparkle, which i dont like. I really was looking for something that would bring a nice soft glow to my face, not a highlighter, but a subtle glow w/out sparkle. Maybe I'm using it wrong or was expecting results that aren't what this is for?
I just received an email from Hourglass that their Ambient Lighting Palette (with incandescent light) is back. Does anyone know if this means it's a permanent part of their collection, or is it LE yet again? What do you think? I have to say I'm disappointed it's not a blush trio or an ambient bronzing trio but this is still amazing because it's three shades of ambient lighting powder that I don't own. EDIT: refinery29 confirms that this palette is a permanent part of the Hourglass cosmetics line! Still awaiting confirmation from Hourglass!
I had previously asked you all about switching from Estee Lauder Double Wear to another foundation (I have very oily skin). I was pretty happy with what I was using, but I really wanted to see if something could go on smoother. I went to Ulta and tried Lancome Teinte Idole in Suede 550 and fell in love. Goes on so smoothly, and gives me something that Estee Lauder just didn't -- a silky smooth finish. I blends easily and my skin looks so flawless. My issue with Estee Lauder was that it was emphasizing my pores. Anyone else using this brand? Tips or suggestions? http://www.sephora.com/teint-idole-ultra-24h-P3082 01
Update: I went back to Sephora tonight despite the fact that it was an inconvenient day for me because I just wanted to get this taken care of. I was waited on by a more experienced SA this time. I asked about the camera for color matching and it turns out my location does have the ability to do that but still prefers to do them by hand, as the camera can be thrown off by redness and freckles and not read the correct color of the skin. So anyway, I was rematched by hand and, amazingly, I only needed one shade darker. The irony of it? The shade I ended up with was the shade I would've bought for myself online before I second guessed my choice and decided I better get matched in store. That'll teach me! Ah well, c'est la vie. Also, I did take the advice of some of the ladies on here and used a makeup wipe in-store to remove all my existing foundation so that the new shade could be applied to fresh skin and over my entire face. Here is the end result in natural light. What do you all think? Does it look okay? -------------------------------------------------- ------------------------ Original Post: So, I'm half annoyed and half just feeling bad I need to make a return. The girl who attempted to color match a foundation I wanted to buy tonight was very nice and really did make an effort. However, once I tried the shade she chose for me on at home, I looked like I put on geisha makeup. It's not even close to my right color. I need to go down maybe two shades I think. The thing is, I work every other day this week until Sunday, when I will now have to make a special trip to go exchange this and receive another color match, which will hopefully be more correct. I do think I have enough foundation left to make it a few more days until then, which is good...but still. What a disappointment. I thought I had this taken care of already. Sigh. End rant. The left side is the foundation they chose for me and the right side is my natural skin without any makeup.
