I have recently been reading an article that said wearing blue eyeshadow makes you look like a clown so NEVER wear blue eye shadow. So no blue eye shadow at ALL! Well I highly disagree with this. Blue is a graceful color. If you wear it and put it on right it won't make you look like a clown! I wear blue eyeshadow when its night time.
I feel eye shadow is the most universal item. So many colors, brand, prices. But, even if eye shadow is not your favorite you crave more. Last year I bought stila in the lights, Bh cosmetics's party girl. Now I want Too Face Chocolate Bar, The Divergent Multi collection, Naked Basics, Naked 3. Anyone else have a hard time finding a reason for more.
I mentioned the other day in the palette parade thread that it would be cool if someone started a thread with a picture of a cool eye look and we all tried our hands at it. So CalamityJane (the bully) told me to start it. My immediate thought was "But I wanted someone else to do it!!" Then I decided I was being a whiny little b*tch and should get to it. So without further ado, here's the first Eyeshadow Inspiration! I had been wanting to try a green/bronze eye look for awhile and thought this one looked fun. Here is my not-very-good attempt at it: As always, lighting was a bit of an issue (why won't my blush ever show up?!?), but even though the colors aren't captured perfectly you can still kind of see them. Anyone else want to try? Feel free to substitute colors and change it up (maybe using whatever your palette-of-the-week is?). I love seeing what people here come up with!
My name is Bombshell and I continue to be an eyeshadow addict enthusiast !! However, five weeks ago I began a quest to actually start using my mountains and mountains of palettes and shadows. Along with some awesome ladies who have joined in I have committed to using the same palette 5 days in a row and posting the results at the end of five days. Those with single shadows are welcome to join in as well! If you are interested in the original rules & lists posted they can be found in off topic, (take the challenge: palette parade). the gist of it is make a list, plan to show all your shadows love for extended period of time (5days), if you hate it first day move on. I am also planning to add weeks of singles by brand (Stila week, UD week, Nars week). I think instead of posting and editing lists it would be easier to report what we plan to use at the beginning of the week and the report the results at the end. We meet here at the end of the week to discuss what we wore for the week, how it worked for us and most importantly to share pictures and advice! Anyone can join as we all started at different times and have different numbers of palettes, and will finish at different times. I am looking at 38 (?) more weeks if I don't buy one more palette! Xoxo I look forward to more fun parading with all you girls! Calling all palette addicts! Considering a LOT of us all have the same ones, let's swap some of our best "recipes"! I do with some non BT friends and we have a blast. It's just a great way to get and share ideas or try something you might not have thought of! It's also fun to see how the same thing can look different on someone else. I was interested in buying Duo false eyelash glue, until I noticed latex was the second ingredient. I'm allergic to latex and I feel scared of putting something with it on the sensitive eye area. Do any of you beauties know any falsies or falsie glue without latex?
Any of you tried one, or both of these pretties? I am trying to decide between the two, as they look pretty similar in pictures. I love the Chanel but I get points and dollars towards Rouge requalification if I choose the Dior, so....decisions, decisions!
I think I saw a couple of people here on BT looking for the Anastasia Lavish Palette but couldnt because it was sold out everywhere. I follow ABH on Instagram and she mentioned she will be restocking this palette in limited quantities sometime soon. So if you want it, get on instagram and follow her so you can get it as soon as its re-released before it sells out again!
Good morning all!!!!! I think I found a new urban decay palette!!!!! Of course it's not confirmed, urban decay is denying it of course but the image I'm about to show was found on Reddit, and I found it on the blog zadidoll. So without further ado here it is!!!!!!
Hello! I just started getting into buying and using powder eye shadows, including some palettes and make-your-own palettes like MUG. I find that in most of the palettes, the highlight shade (for under brow to the transition shade or crease shade) is usually way too white and/or shimmery, making that shade (and sometimes the other super light shade(s) that can be used for highlight), pretty much useless. I'm at the point that I'd like to find a highlight color--one perhaps more cool, one perhaps a bit warm--or maybe just one good one--that I can wear with just about any colors I use in transition/crease and lower lid. I'm older so prefer to not have a glittery or shimmery shade under my brow. Just something that will look good during the day (when I wear neutrals) or night (even if I wear shimmer on some of my lower eyelid). I prefer the highlight shadow to be in its own compact. It can be any brand, from drugstore to MAC to Burberry to Tom Ford. I'm light to fair complexion, with S&P hair and dark brown eyes. Brows are dark brown (almost black). Too white highlight shade looks too stark--reminds me of 1980s. What is your favorite brand/shade of powder eye shadow for highlighting and what do you like about it? Is it a warmer or cooler one? Does it have a little bit of pink in it or tan or whatever? Please share!
I'm so sad, I just returned 2 things today like right AFTER I bought them in the store (yes, TODAY), I can't take this back now. Maybe I put it on too heavy, after all I don't have an eyebrow brush yet. Had to use an angled eyeliner until my Anastasia one comes because it's sold out here.
Can you help me add some color? The pic here is how I typically wear my makeup- I usually wear grey or brown. Naked 2 is my go-to palette, but amusingly enough I'm not wearing it in this pic. In this pic I am wearing Urban Decay Foxy (base) Sephora Collection Berlin Underground (matte grey) Urban Decay Mushroom (grey shimmer) MAC Haux (matte brownish rose) If you added color to my look, what color? How would you do it?
I'm kind of stealing the eyeshadow inspiration board idea but focusing on colorful eyeliner. I was inspired by the UD 24/7 Glide-On pencil conversation. I think there are some people (including myself) who are just starting to, or would like to, branch out with colorful eyeliners such as blues, purples, or greens but are not exactly sure how to do that. Maybe some of you with more experience with colorful eyeliners would like to share ideas or even photos of how you wear them. For example, do you wear them just on the lower lashline for a pop of color or do you pair it with neutral makeup? ( I apologize if there's already a board like this. Feel free to post the link if there is )
Hello pretty ladies, Back with another question to see what all you wonderful minds have to suggest. I really like using gel liners because i find it gives me the most natural look - but no matter how I apply it, it smudges all under my eye and on the corners despite the fact not using much If I tightline my eyes with a gel liner it's a no no and smudges within MINUTES!! I have oily lids so things easily move around - with my stila liquid liner it stay puts all day but sometimes I find it is just a bit too much for an everyday thing. I've tried gel liners from tarte, bobbi brown, smash box and god knows what and none of them worked - I've been using a Korean brand which has proven to have better "smudge proof" quality. I still want to know more options. I know probably a pencil option may be good - so any suggestions? Stila? Urban Decay? How do I get my gel liners not to travel down to my lower lid and smudge all over my under eye area and the corners of my eyes!!! It's driving me nuts.
So, I have always struggled with doing any kind of eye make up and tonight I was watching some tutorials and I realized that I have no idea what "approach" to take with eye make up because I have silly half white/half asian eyes that are very confused about their identity. I would say that I have a hooded eye, as you can see in picture 1...but when I open my eye more (picture two, although it is not the best picture of this), I actually also have a fairly well defined crease. So...how do I apply eye make up to my crazy eyes? Is there a name for this shape to look up tutorials? I feel like whenever I start applying anything other than a neutral wash, things start to fall apart because my eyes crease in 2 places. I think because of that, I have trouble blending/applying colors, so any and all tips you guys have would be really appreciated!!
I just ordered this from Ulta. I haven't seen any reviews on it although Musings of a Muse had it on her site, but it was just so cute and I love cream shadows. I've always been pleased with Cargo products, and I was in the mood to buy a new palette but none of the powder palettes were doing it for me, so this was perfect! I'll let you know how I like it!
Lots of posts on fave products but what tools can you not live without? I'm talking about brushes of all types- liner, blender, brow... and eyelash curlers, combs, whatever! What do you use on your eyes that you are lost without?
This is a small Indie cosmetics company, and I'm currently lusting after their Arcane Magic Eye Shadows. They're these loose eyeshadows that are very sparkly and get this; THEY CHANGE COLOR. Depending on the angle and lighting, these shadows will change in color. Now in theory, that means they'll change to lighter colors when light is hitting them, therefore they will darken by themselves in the creases. This would mean that the days of using a billion colors and shades to do eyeshadow are gone because the shadow would adjust its shade and color to match your contours. Here's the link: http://www.fyrinnae.com/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId =14 Apparently their fairy epoxy primer/glue is very good too. A lot of bloggers rave about it.
I just wanted to give you all a heads up if you have really sensitive eyes like I do. I'm getting a weird reaction to this remover. When I wake up the next morning, my eyes are all gunky and they hurt. I mean, really hurt. I switched back to my Neutrogena Oil Free Makeup Remover, and it works well and doesn't affect my eyes. And it's cheap to boot! http://www.sephora.com/product/productDetail.jsp?k eyword=makeup%20forever%20makeup%20remover&skuId=9 ...
