strawberry blonde makeup colors
I have strawberry blonde hair (with natural blonde highlights) light skin (not pale) with tan freckles, green eyes and brown eyelashes and eyebrows. I was curious as to what makeup colors (eyes and cheeks primarily) I should be wearing. I also had some questions: Is black eyeliner too harsh for me, even if its just a thin streak on the upper lid? Is black mascara not appropriate? Obviously I can gauge when my makeup is too dark and unnatural looking, but its just nice to have some outside advice. Thanks so much
Black eyeliner in a cat wing shouldn't be a problem if you plan on also adding a little more color to the brows and keeping the rest of the eye simple (a shade that is a close match to your lid or no shadow). However, rimmed should be more reserved for night time. You can probably get away with a brown for the same effect minus without it looking harsh. Or even grey works (such as Lancome's Fumee).
Stick to brown mascaras. They will appear darker than you think.
A line of black is probably going to make your eyes look tired in the daytime. It usually looks like a sagging tired eyelid which isn't flattering.
Look carefully at your eyes. Any small pops of color that are not so dominant in your iris? What color seems to rim your iris? Those colors in eye shadow form tend to coordinate well with your eyes.
What color undertones? This one is primarily for the cheeks. I never really wore blush very much aside from a subtle pinky peach type (Lancome still carries it. Miel Glace). NARS blush in orgasm is pretty universal. A little goes a long way.
Hope that helps.
I have strawberry blonde hair, hazel eyes and light eyebrows too, and I will tell you what works for me! I look awful with black eyeliner and I can't even do a thin line because my eyes are deep set. I like copper, bronze, and plum eyeliners. My favorite liner is MAC Fluidline RIch Ground. This is a metallic copper that is just so flattering and it stays on all day. I wear black or brown mascara, I like to use tubing type mascara when I am going to be out in the heat and it doesn't come in brown. As long as I don't lay it on too thick (like for evening) black is fine.
For cheeks I like NARS Orgasm or South Beach, just use a light hand!
Hope this helped!
First off, what beautiful features you have!
I'm not sure what shade of green your eyes are, but if you have a darker or hazel green, then you want to use Greens, Purples, & Apricots. (I know it sounds crazy but it's true!)
-For Bronzer, you'd look great with a light (not too harsh) brown- check out Urban Decay shades & Too Faced Caribbean In a Compact.
-For Blush: Try Lorac Baked Matte Satin Blush or Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Tipsy or Amused.
-Your thumbnail doesn't have your photo so i'm not sure what your face looks like, but black eye liner really depends on what your face looks like if you have blonde hair. I would recommend a pencil liner to be safe. Liquid eyeliner can really make a statement.... possibly not the one you want.
-For mascara, my personal opinion is that black mascara looks good on everybody.
I'll bet that your strawberry blonde hair and green eyes look gorgeous together along with your fair skin. I am going to give you some general tips for makeup for redheads, which includes strawberry blondes.
Eye Products for Redheads
Most earth tones eye shadows and eyeliners work great for redheads—green is an exceptionally good color. The shades in the Clinique line I’d recommend are: Clinique Color Surge Eye Shadow in Cider, Gold Rush, Rum Spice, Lucky Penny, Color Surge Eye Shadow Duo in Copper Canyon, and Coffee Shop. For eyeliners, try Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Moss or True Khaki, or if you prefer a creamier application, try Cream Shaper for Eyes in Egyptian or Brown Sugar. To create the perfect lash look, if you are very fair and have blonde lashes I recommend a brown mascara (not black or black/brown) so your makeup doesn't look too harsh. When filling in the brows, be careful not to go too dark. You want to use a soft wheat or auburn colored liner. You should stay away from black. Eye makeup gives you more variety in the color wheel because you can use browns, taupes, violets, moss greens, light pinks, hazels, golds and bronzes. Brown or red-brown mascara will compliment your eyes and eyeliners in brown; beige and hazel (not green) will also look great. However, you should stay away from black mascara or liner because it can look to harsh. A dark blond brow pencil or shadow will be perfect for brows too.
Foundation for Redheads
Using a sheer-based foundation in beige colors works best. Stay away from pink-toned foundations, which can make you look ruddy or too pink. A light colored bronzer can also be used in lieu of foundation if your skin doesn't require coverage, but you just want to add a little color all over. A green-based concealer (or green color corrector stick) is perfect for blemishes and under-eye darkness, so be sure to blend over it with some foundation to achieve the perfect coverage.
Coral & Peach Blush
Blush colors should be in the coral and peach family of colors if you are fair, while darker redheads can also use a raisin colored blush as well. You'd want to go lighter in shade for fairer skin and darker for medium skin tones. Make Up For Ever Powder Blush has some great shades to choose from.
Lipstick for Redheads: Coral, Peach, & Pink Toned Lipsticks
All shades of redheads can use lipstick and lip liners that are light-to-medium shades of coral, peach and pink tones, and even a raisin-colored lipstick that is sheer and not matte will look great. If you want to wear red lipstick, find reds that are orange-based rather than blue-based and find a color that suits your own shade of red. Tinted lip-glosses in those shades will look good too.
I hope this helps you.
