eye shadow and liner
I have hazel eyes, fair skin, athough it is a little tan right now, dark blond hair and am looking for suggestions on eye makeup. What would be a universally flattering color for eyeliner and eyeshadow? Also, how do I know if I need to apply a highlighter? I am 38 and just now starting to learn about make up!! I always think the eyeshadow has to match the color of the clothes. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
I have to agree with Maltipoo! There are no rules where makeup must match something specific. It's really all about balance and complimenting what you have. If you put intensity in the eyes, go with a neutral lip. If you go with a bold lip, go with a more muted eye and soft cheek. I really love the monitone look right now for summer.
If you are new to makeup you may want to start with some basic palettes that can be your go to everyday.
The Smashbox for Hazel Eyes is very pretty and has some colors you can apply all over the lid, some you can smoke out, and the darker ones can be used as a soft liner too.
The Too Faced Neutral Palette is also very pretty, and you can't go wrong with the Urban Decay Naked I or Naked II palettes.
Of course if your not looking to invest a lot into a full set of colors, a staple single shadow like Stila's Kitten. That is a beautiful everyday color smudged with some soft brown, grey, or black liner.
