Generally speaking, browns are best to make blue eyes truly stand out. However, an artist who did my makeup recently used a smokey plum on me, and it was surprisingly effective at making my light blue eyes stand out. For evenings, I also like charcoal grey -- classic smokey eye colors. I have found that blue eyes really pop with any of the above combinations -- not just brown!
