Mascara keeps on smudging :(
I have a question about mascaras.
I always have problems with it smudging.
I have used Sephora brand, Clinique, Lancome, hourglass, and is using bobbi brown.
not even a few hours after wearing it, my lashes lose mascara to the under eye skin (if this makes sense) - so like dark circles
I don't know what to do about it.
I love the bobbi brown mascara, it gives me amazing lengths, but doesn't last long at all
I have asian eyes, have single eyelids.
please help me
Try a tubing mascara. I have a similar problem with mascaras always smudging under my eyes until I discovered tubing mascaras. They actually form tiny little tubes over each lash that stay all day long and I've never experienced any smudging, not even a little bit. The one I'm using is L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes. Sephora does carry some others but I haven't tried any yet except Clinique High Impact Mascara.
The only non-tubing mascara I really like is Buxom Lash. My lashes are pretty long so I prefer the large brush that lets me really comb through every lash.
Have you tried applying face/finishing powder under your eyes to see if that helps with the smudging?
ive noticed that the same mascara used with a different undereye cream and concealer will not smudge! Maybe test some less emollient products for your under eye area.
This just happened to me today. I wore the same mascara as yesterday (Stila waterproof) and today it smudged... but yesterday I used a different eyecream and different concealer and no dark smudges under my eyes!
Oh honey, I had the exact same issue. I have tried so many mascaras and they have all smudged after an hour the most. Until I tried the Lancome Hypnose Drama Waterproof. It's $27 I believe and it is the most amazing mascara, EVER! I have short, sparse lashes... because I too, have Asian eyes. This mascara holds my curl and stays put on both my upper and lower lashes. I have not tried other Lancome mascaras because I am not curious since the hypnose drama works well for me. I have not tried the non-waterproof one but for me, I always use waterproof because my eyes are usually watery throughout the day.
You can try three things
1: You can apply a little bit of power on your lashes before you put your mascara on. This will help to get rid of any oils that may be on the lashes.
2.Depending on where your smudging i.e. under your eye. Your eye cream or concealer can be breaking down the mascara and causing it to smudge. So make sure you always set your under eye concealer.
3. Try to us a waterproof formula, I know it's not ideal but they don't usually smudge. A really great waterproof is the Dior Show water proof.
Hope that helps some.
Do you use waterproof mascaras? They seriously should help. Also, if you use an eyelid primer, like the NARS smudge proof eyeshadow base, that should help. Even if you don't want to use eyeshadow for the day, just swipe some of the base on, and then use a skin toned shadow from lid to brow. That should help keep your mascara from smudging on the lid. Under the lid, make sure you set with powder. LM secret brightening powder is good. My fav waterproof mascara is dior show waterproof for my upper lashes and clinique bottom lash mascara for the bottom. Since i've been doing that I haven't had mascara smudge once.
I have been using an organic mascara by Physicians Formula and it never has smudged. My eyelashes are finally growing long again because I guess the chemicals in other mascaras were breaking my eyelashes off. It comes off easily with soap and water and I have never had a smudge yet.
I have this exact problem. I have chunky monolids that obscure most of my eye lashes. And my lower eye lids look like...a shelf.
On days when I don't wear eye shadow, I use Blinc tubing mascara.
On days when I do use eye shadow, I make sure to use primer all over my upper lid and on my lower lid where I'm prone to smudging. On my lower lid, I pat a layer of colored setting powder over the primer and whatever concealer I'm using. I've also noticed not all concealers play nice with my mascaras. Water proof concealers and mascaras work the best. Sometimes, if I'm not too tired, the setting powder over the primer is enough so I can forgo concealer.
Hope that helps!
When I was trying different waterproof mascara, the Bare Ecsentuals waterproof mascara did this to me big time. I looked so bad by the end of the day, I was amazed. And Lancome Definicils waterproof would flake off on me. I don't recommend trying either.
The tubing mascara sounds like a good thing to try. If you don't like it, I've found that Lights, Camera, Splashes by Tarte doesn't cause me the same problems. It is, however, a somewhat wet formula, so you need to give it time to dry or it will go places. After that, it doesn't budge.
