How to prevent eyeliner breakage

When I sharpen my eyeliners, the sharpener tends to make the makeup portion (as opposed to the wood) long before it gets sharp. It then breaks if I try to sharpen it to a point. This has been an ongoing issue with multiple pencils (and sharpeners!) and is even worse now that I'm using UD's Perversion - it's just so soft! What am I doing wrong?

Try putting your liner in the refrigerator for 1/2 hour before sharpening or the freezer for 10 minutes. It makes the soft part firmer so it sharpens more evenly. Also, a really sharp sharpener works better, I have Urban Decay's Grindhouse sharpener, it works well on skinny and fat pencils and has stayed sharp for a long time.

Hope this helps!
