How much is too much?
Everyday, I usually only put eyeliner on my lower waterline. I love doing makeup, but I'm always scared that I will put on too much and that I won't be able to tell if it's too much but everyone else will. Does that make sense? Anyway, I'm just curious as to suggestions for makeup ideas that would just add a right amount of "pretty". I have (dirty) blonde hair, blue eyes, relatively pale skin

Hi,

Makeup can be so subjective and the interpretation of "too much" is really determined by an individual. If you feel that you can't see your natural beauty, then perhaps it is too much. A little bit of eyeshadow to open your eyes, liner, cheeks could be a minimal amount. It'll all depend on how you apply it too.

For the day, I would recommen going for more neutrals to brighter tones to bring out your eyes. For blue eyes try peaches, gold, bronzer and wash it over the entire eyes. Follow it with a soft pink blush.

Try doing your makeup in natural lighting. Bring one of these mirrors and do your makeup by a window or outside on the back porch. Its easy to overdo makeup in artificial lighting. Stick to neutral makeup if you want to look polished and pretty and not too overdone and you'll be just fine.

Are you putting eyeliner only on your lower waterline and not your top lash line? If you're not putting liner on your top lash line I would suggest doing that (with or without liner on your waterline) because it will define your lashes more and give you a made up look with out going over board (depending on how thick the liner is of course I would start out close to the lash line then wing it out a bit)  I would also suggest trying a colored liner on your lower lash line like a green, blue, copper or gold color if you want to try some color but not too much as far as eyeshadow.

That is a difficult question since this is a very subjective thing. I think it depends on age, occasion, time of day, and where you work/or even the amount of makeup worn by others. I tend to go with just the top lash line, and it tends to allow for a heavier line without being severe. I would suggest going with a liner with a smudge able formula in a color other than black. Stila makes some really nice pencils that are workable then sets to an almost bulletproof finish. Urban Decay 24/7 Shadow pencils are also great. Another option would be to use a heavily pigmented eyeshadow with a damp angle brush or just smudged dry. I say ultimately do what you feel pretty and confident. That is what's most important!
