So, I have always struggled with doing any kind of eye make up and tonight I was watching some tutorials and I realized that I have no idea what "approach" to take with eye make up because I have silly half white/half asian eyes that are very confused about their identity. I would say that I have a hooded eye, as you can see in picture 1...but when I open my eye more (picture two, although it is not the best picture of this), I actually also have a fairly well defined crease. So...how do I apply eye make up to my crazy eyes? Is there a name for this shape to look up tutorials? I feel like whenever I start applying anything other than a neutral wash, things start to fall apart because my eyes crease in 2 places. I think because of that, I have trouble blending/applying colors, so any and all tips you guys have would be really appreciated!!
This may sound like kind of a weird question. I have a few lashes that tend to annoy me. When I'm not wearing mascara, I'll have a few lashes to hang down and poke me in the eye, but they're not ready to fall out or anything. Sometimes when I am wearing mascara, a lash or two may hang into my eye if I missed coating it. On other occasions, if a few aren't hanging into my eyes, it is placed at a weird angle. If I try to move it back, it'll go back to its weird angle. (and I am talking about real lashes) I can't stand having anything in my eyes (OCD thing; there's no way I could wear contacts if I ever needed them). If I feel like something is there, I'll use a mirror and search for whatever the cause is, and it is often my misbehaving lashes. I tried my best to take pictures to kind of illustrate my problem. I hope I don't sound too crazy or anything. Has anyone else been annoyed at an issue like this? Do certain mascaras cause it or anything? Maybe there's a different mascara I should try? This is my right eye, makeup free. Towards the left, there's a lash that is touching the bottom ones, and a few towards the middle top are kind of down. Please ignore the need to pluck. This one shows it a bit better. There's also a lash on the left side doing its own thing, along with the one that pokes my lower lash line. Super annoying. My left eye isn't as bad as my right one at the moment. There's one lash that tends to do its own thing while the lashes at the outer corner sometimes curl differently compared to the right eye.
Can you help me add some color? The pic here is how I typically wear my makeup- I usually wear grey or brown. Naked 2 is my go-to palette, but amusingly enough I'm not wearing it in this pic. In this pic I am wearing Urban Decay Foxy (base) Sephora Collection Berlin Underground (matte grey) Urban Decay Mushroom (grey shimmer) MAC Haux (matte brownish rose) If you added color to my look, what color? How would you do it?
My name is Bombshell and I continue to be an eyeshadow addict enthusiast !! However, five weeks ago I began a quest to actually start using my mountains and mountains of palettes and shadows. Along with some awesome ladies who have joined in I have committed to using the same palette 5 days in a row and posting the results at the end of five days. Those with single shadows are welcome to join in as well! If you are interested in the original rules & lists posted they can be found in off topic, (take the challenge: palette parade). the gist of it is make a list, plan to show all your shadows love for extended period of time (5days), if you hate it first day move on. I am also planning to add weeks of singles by brand (Stila week, UD week, Nars week). I think instead of posting and editing lists it would be easier to report what we plan to use at the beginning of the week and the report the results at the end. We meet here at the end of the week to discuss what we wore for the week, how it worked for us and most importantly to share pictures and advice! Anyone can join as we all started at different times and have different numbers of palettes, and will finish at different times. I am looking at 38 (?) more weeks if I don't buy one more palette! Xoxo I look forward to more fun parading with all you girls! Hello pretty ladies, Back with another question to see what all you wonderful minds have to suggest. I really like using gel liners because i find it gives me the most natural look - but no matter how I apply it, it smudges all under my eye and on the corners despite the fact not using much If I tightline my eyes with a gel liner it's a no no and smudges within MINUTES!! I have oily lids so things easily move around - with my stila liquid liner it stay puts all day but sometimes I find it is just a bit too much for an everyday thing. I've tried gel liners from tarte, bobbi brown, smash box and god knows what and none of them worked - I've been using a Korean brand which has proven to have better "smudge proof" quality. I still want to know more options. I know probably a pencil option may be good - so any suggestions? Stila? Urban Decay? How do I get my gel liners not to travel down to my lower lid and smudge all over my under eye area and the corners of my eyes!!! It's driving me nuts.
I just wanted to give you all a heads up if you have really sensitive eyes like I do. I'm getting a weird reaction to this remover. When I wake up the next morning, my eyes are all gunky and they hurt. I mean, really hurt. I switched back to my Neutrogena Oil Free Makeup Remover, and it works well and doesn't affect my eyes. And it's cheap to boot! http://www.sephora.com/product/productDetail.jsp?k eyword=makeup%20forever%20makeup%20remover&skuId=9 ...
I mentioned the other day in the palette parade thread that it would be cool if someone started a thread with a picture of a cool eye look and we all tried our hands at it. So CalamityJane (the bully) told me to start it. My immediate thought was "But I wanted someone else to do it!!" Then I decided I was being a whiny little b*tch and should get to it. So without further ado, here's the first Eyeshadow Inspiration! I had been wanting to try a green/bronze eye look for awhile and thought this one looked fun. Here is my not-very-good attempt at it: As always, lighting was a bit of an issue (why won't my blush ever show up?!?), but even though the colors aren't captured perfectly you can still kind of see them. Anyone else want to try? Feel free to substitute colors and change it up (maybe using whatever your palette-of-the-week is?). I love seeing what people here come up with!
I'm so sad, I just returned 2 things today like right AFTER I bought them in the store (yes, TODAY), I can't take this back now. Maybe I put it on too heavy, after all I don't have an eyebrow brush yet. Had to use an angled eyeliner until my Anastasia one comes because it's sold out here.
I just ordered this from Ulta. I haven't seen any reviews on it although Musings of a Muse had it on her site, but it was just so cute and I love cream shadows. I've always been pleased with Cargo products, and I was in the mood to buy a new palette but none of the powder palettes were doing it for me, so this was perfect! I'll let you know how I like it!
I'm kind of stealing the eyeshadow inspiration board idea but focusing on colorful eyeliner. I was inspired by the UD 24/7 Glide-On pencil conversation. I think there are some people (including myself) who are just starting to, or would like to, branch out with colorful eyeliners such as blues, purples, or greens but are not exactly sure how to do that. Maybe some of you with more experience with colorful eyeliners would like to share ideas or even photos of how you wear them. For example, do you wear them just on the lower lashline for a pop of color or do you pair it with neutral makeup? ( I apologize if there's already a board like this. Feel free to post the link if there is )
Hello ladies! I need some desperate help! I have super dark circles and two little annoying fine lines under each. Needless to say my concealers crease significantly without setting it. The first setting powder I ever used was MUFE microfinish, and it worked great - but recently after changing my concealer from the mufe lift back to bobbi brown I noticed it did not set the same and thus started creasing - NOT TO MENTION NOBODY TOLD ME THERE WAS FLASHBACK, so on New Year's Eve I learned a very impor tant lesson. I returned it right away and then tried Illamasqua's loose setting powder - absolutely DESPISE IT. It sets within MINUTES into my creases and looks absolutely awful - makes me look tired and just..disgusting. After that I was referred to use the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Loose Powder, and I have read lots of good things - I'm just so tired of this search... What do you guys have to say about it? I'm currently using the sephora airbrush #57 to apply powder under my eyes - am I doing something wrong?
Lots of posts on fave products but what tools can you not live without? I'm talking about brushes of all types- liner, blender, brow... and eyelash curlers, combs, whatever! What do you use on your eyes that you are lost without?
Good morning all!!!!! I think I found a new urban decay palette!!!!! Of course it's not confirmed, urban decay is denying it of course but the image I'm about to show was found on Reddit, and I found it on the blog zadidoll. So without further ado here it is!!!!!!
These are some drugstore eyeshadows that I think are pigmented, blendable, long lasting, and silky/buttery. These are the Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadows, the Hard Candy eyeshadow duos, Wet N' Wild eyeshadow trios, and the L'oreal Hip Studio Secrets eyeshadow duos.
I saw a makeup tutorial on YouTube that I really liked, but sadly the OP didn't list what specific brushes she used. I contacted the person who posted the video but haven't heard from her. If I post a link to the video here- am I allowed to do that?- can anyone help me figure out what types of brushes were used- i.e. crease brush, angled liner brush, etc? The brush brand used is MAC, but I wold like to order equivalent ones from Sephora.
I plan to buy some inexpensive eyeshadow palettes soon. I don't wear eyeshadow everyday. I'm more of an eyeliner girl. So I'm looking for inexpensive palettes with intense pigmentation. I really want to try out some mattes. So far I've narrowed it down to Sleek iDivine palettes and BH Cosmetics 88 Matte Palette. I've been torn between the two companies for more than a week. I figured you ladies would be able to help me decide.
I have been using Mirabella makeup line for 3 years now. It is a salon exclusive brand and I'm no longer able to get it. I need any recommendations on a good makeup line as I'm starting from scratch looking for one. Are there any best sellers? Why would you recommend that line? I need good coverage, but I also do no like a heavy caked on look. Thanks
So I just purchased the Kat Von D Beethoven palette, and I was a little iffy on it, but loved the colors. I just feel weird buying something from a celebrity line. I've seen comments that her stuff is pretty decent, but others hate it. I have not, however, seen any opinions on this particular palette. Good, bad, ugly? Either way, I know I can always return it, and it should be here on Thursday, but I'm just wondering how it blends and applies and holds up. Thanks!
Clinique has apparently discontinued one of my all-time favorite quad eyeshadows - plum seduction. I actually never used the violets in it, but I have been on the hunt to match the grey-taupe-ish color and the lighter taupe color. Any suggestions?
I am not sure if posting links is allowed, but I found a total of one beauty blog review on it with pictures! Lol
Today, I woke up late and got ready in a flying rush. My house is going to be full of contractors all day, so I'm wearing workout gear and hoodie and pony tail. But I'm tired of looking shlumpy, so I Beauty Blended on some light foundation, blush, and mascara. And then reached for my... Covergirl Single Shadow in Mink 750. Yes, here I am with at least 100 different eyeshadows to my name now. Singles, palettes, dozens of neutral options from tons of different brands, from extremely pricey to extremely cheap, and yet the shadow I can always count on, the one I always reach for in a pinch, is this miraculous Covergirl single. It is the perfect taupe, with a touch of bronze to it. No shimmer or glitter, but it has a light sheen which makes my eyes pop. I can grab that retail sponge applicator it comes with, and in 10 seconds surround my top and bottom lashes with a thick layer of this soft creamy shadow and look bright eyed, like me with no makeup, only better. It's not my "favorite" shadow, but it is my most trusted, go-to, use this and this only and be perfect color product. This is the only color product, truly, that I've hit pan on and repurchased again, and again. I've used it for 13 years. I've tried to replace it, but nothing is the exact match. UD YDK was the closest, but it has too much glitter. One day, I know, I'll go to my local Walgreens and it will be gone. That day will be a sad day. So tell me your story. What's your most reached for color product (not skin care)? The one that you grab when you are late or when you want to look your best but not like you're trying too hard? What's the story behind it?
