Can I return an item without the original box and without a receipt?

I got the smashbox camera ready bb cream for a Christmas gift and it doesn't match me. I got rid of the box a while ago, and I can't find the receipt. My mom got it, and she didn't use my beauty insider card. Can I still return for store creditPhoto on 3-18-17 at 8.42 PM.jpg?
