So its that time of year when a lot of us either get gift cards, or get ourselves a little something special just because we deserve it, and face masks are one of the things I always think of as the perfect little indulgence--not too expensive, but mostly not something I think of as an absolute necessity so not something I usually buy for myself and the perfect thing to treat yourself with. Since its been a couple of years since we had a thread on favorite masks and with so many new ones that have come out, I thought this might be a fun discussion to have so...... 1) what are your favorite masks and why? 2) do you have another favorite treat yourself product/purchase?
I'm looking for a new moisturizer, the last one I used was a dior pro-youth with SPF that they've since discontinued. I have sensitive skin, and an uneven skin tone. I have combination skin that tends to be more oily than dry.
Hey guys so for over a year i have been looking for the perfect skincare products. I have a combo skin, oily t zone and somewhat dry cheeks with new acne on it plus the acne scars from last year. I was currently using kiehl's products but they didn't help. I am looking for a daily skin routine starting with a face wash then toner and moisturizer, nothing too harsh for the skin. My main concern is the little acne and the oily part of the face. really appreciate it if you guys can recommend products that are more organic.
So my brother and I were talking today and I managed to convince him to stop taking skin care advice from our father and tentatively consider using products actually meant for skin on his skin (so no, shampoo is not meant to be a body and face wash too for example). The catch is that he has never had any kind of skin care routine and doesn't really have an interest in anything that would take a lot of time or require leaning much and his description of his skin type is "I don't know, I think it must be kind of oily sometimes because I get bumps, but not much....". He's in is mid 30s. So I was thinking of starting him with something relatively simple like: 1) a cheapish exfoliating body wash (if anyone has any suggestions that don't smell to "girly" or "like that Axe crap", I'm all ears) and 2) a face wash that would be simple and kind of moisturizing. I was thinking maybe a bar would seem more familiar but am totally open to suggestions..... I saw there was now a trial size of the two Drunk Elephant cleanser bars at sephora and wondered about that, but wasn't sure if a bar was the way to go given that he has a beard and I've never tried them either, but I heard really good things and have been wondering about them myself so I'm torn..... Thoughts/Suggestions??????
I recently purchased Murad's Hydro-Dynamic Quenching Essence and I LOVE the results, how it feels on my skin, the ingredients, and the smell. I specifically enjoy how it has ingredients such as watermelon to help reduce redness-and I have noticed a difference. What Murad daily moisturizer would you recommend with the same effects/benefits? I am new to this line/brand. Thank you!
Anyone tried the Beauty DNA subscription box? If so what do you think??? I'm really curious about it because it is supposed to have a really great questionnaire that determines what you get, but I have really sensative skin and would love to get real world feedback of how well people thought they followed what they put in their profile and if they liked (or hated) the box and why.....
Hi All, I have a very odd skin type that doesn't seem to fit in the normal categories. My cheeks are very dry, and my T zone is dry and flaky but gets extremely oily throughout the day. I have tried countless products, mostly different moisturizers and cleaners with no luck of clearing up the oiliness in my T-Zone, but is hydrating enough as well. Many beauty consultants tell me that I am dehydrated... but I tend to use the most moisturizing products because products for combo skin or oily skin aren't nearly hydrating enough (skin still seems tight when using them). Currently I am using Fresh Soy Cleanser, Eau Roma Toner water from lush, and Dr. Jart's Ceramidin cream. Does anyone else have this problem, and if so, have you found any miracle products that helps? Thanks so much! Amber
Hey, i need a good moisturizer, cleansing gel and exfoliant to use with the Clarisonic. -17 years old -combination skin, oily on the t zone and dry/flaky on my forehead and jawline -normal to sensitive skin -little acne issues What would you guys recommend me? Thanks!
Hi everyone. I'm looking for a daytime moisturizer for my normal/combination skin. I don't have any major skin concerns but I'm in my late 30's and would like a product that has anti-aging benefits. A cream or lotion formula is preferred. Thanks for any suggestions.
I'm hoping you guys can help me find a new skin care routine that will work for my super sensitive skin since most of my go-tos have been discontinued. I'm in my mid-30s but am usually mistaken for someone in their late teens or early twenties when I'm not dressed for work. The biggest issue is that my skin is SUPER sensitive (as in trying to use Algenists gentle cleanser and oil at night started out OK but within a couple of hours was red enough and burning badly enough that I not only needed to wash everything off but it had to be treated with cortisone cream. I don't know if the skin sensitivities are just aging or related to my worsening RA/Fibro & meds, but either way it makes it crazy hard to find products that work. To give you an idea, here are products I've used in the past and ones that I've tried and that haven't worked. What I'd really like is a new routine that can keep my skin in great shape and help me with the early signs of aging that I am just beginning to see around my eyes. Overall my skin leans towards dry (worse in winter & middle of summer because of central heating/AC) with occasional breakouts. I've read some really good things about Drunk Elephant being exceptional for sensitive skin and so wondered about that, but also about Sunday Riley or Nude or almost anything else anyone could suggest.... Products I currently use: Acure's 100% Argan oil (at this point I use this as my main moisturizer because I haven't found anything else) Korres Milk Cleanser (loved the old formula, find the new just a bit more drying and scented) Origins Modern Friction Bosica's Black mask Things I've tried in the past and liked: Chanel's Beauty Initiale (face cream & eye cream) Caudalie Lip & Eye Serum (liked the consistency but didn't seem to do much) Various Prescriptives moisturizers (but they don't really have anything anti-aging) Prescriptive's Vibrant C eye cream (which I also liked a lot but I think is more of a camo solution then actually helping long term and since I found myself usually using it at night, didn't seem like a good fit). So I am really looking for new routine but particularly cleanser, eye cream, day and/or night anti-aging treatment (could be part of an oil or moisturizer too), and moisturizer and any help would be greatly appreciated as well as feedback from fellow super-sensitive skin who've tried Drunk Elephant, Sunday Riley, Nude, etc.
Hi everyone! I am pretty knowledgeable and comfortable with makeup things, but skincare is something I'm not as well versed in: I'm not always sure of what my skin type is and I don't know what ingredients will and won't help me. I do like using a thicker moisturizer to really hydrate my skin at night, and I already have one I'm very happy with, but I am having trouble finding an everyday moisturizer to use in the mornings. I am a teenager with a tendency to get oil build up and breakouts on the tip of my nose, chin, hairline, and occasionally on the corners of my mouth. I get dry, acne like bumps on my jawline, the bridge of my nose, and between my eyebrows. Other than that, I have kind of dull, dry skin on my cheeks, forehead, and nose. I want a moisturizer with SPF that is lightweight enough that it won't make my chin and the tip of my nose greasy, but that will also keep the skin everywhere else looking hydrated and brighter. I would prefer not to spend too much money, but I am willing to spend a little more on a product that will really work and ensure my skin looks nice and healthy for the rest of my life. I hope that isn't too many requirements: I'm sorry I'm so picky, I'm just a little stuck.
is it worth it for the extra $30 to get the newest version? The Luna 2 doesn't seem to be apart of the 2x points deal. I had planned on getting the Luna from Ulta to go towards my platinum status since I don't need it for VIB status, but then they released the Luna 2 which is only available at Sephora right now.
Hi i need a skin care line that will help me minimize pores and blackheads while giving anti-aging properties. I have sensitive, oily skin that can break out easily so i dont like heavy creams. any advice would be appreciated! Thanks
Hi- I have oily/combination skin that doesn't respond well to acne treatment stuff- spot treatments work well for me but face washes with salycylic acid and peroxide just dry me all the way out and make my skin angry. I get acne but the problems aren't super bad unless I'm stressed or hormonal. I'm a student and I swim 2+ times a week. I'd love to start taking better care of my skin, but I'm not sure what I need to get and where to start. What do you guys recommend?
So I have pretty normal skin - I break out every now and then mostly on my chin and I get dry sometimes around my cheeks. But now that winter has picked up and now that it's freezing outside: my skin is going nuts! My cheeks are SO red and dry and are forming some very unattractive patches. I've been using rose water to calm it down, putting on an extra layer of moisturizer and laying off my Clarisonic brush, but I can still see my dry patches underneath my makeup. Any suggestions for alleviating this? I hate seeing that dry, scaly skin under my makeup. My usual skincare routine is: washing once a day with the Vanishing Act soap by Rena Levi (usually with my Clarisonic, but like I said, I'm not using that now), Caudalie Beauty Elixir (swapping that out with rosewater at the moment) and Cerave PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion.
I suffer from combination skin and I have yet to find the right products for me. My T-Zone is very oily, however my cheeks are dry. I have mild-moderate acne that tend to worsen with hormones and stress. I am looking for the perfect face wash, toner, moisturiser, primer, and foundation that will control the oilyness in my t-zone without drying out my cheeks, and clear up my acne. Any suggestions?
Hello ladies! I am currently using Caudalie Vinoperfect serum and lately I've noticed that it isn't working as it used to. Maybe I am not exfoliating enough but recently I visited a Sephora and I got two samples: Tatcha Serum and Drunk Elephant Day serum. I also use Tatcha oil cleanser. My main concern is large pores, uneven skin tone and starting to prevent aging. Any opinions on the two products I have mentioned? I also try to remember to exfoliate using Kate Somerville's Exfolikate. I also use First Aid Beauty Moisturizing cream.
After a few hours my makeup gets very patchy. It sticks to the dry parts of my face, and it gets oily as well. I want my makeup to last longer, cause it starts to streak and my redness, and dark circles start to shoe through......
I'm really really on the hunt for a super easy to use cleanser that I can use with my clarisonic each night. I am looking for something that easily removes makeup, isn't drying, and doesn't sting or burn my eyes! Please, I really need suggestions! I want something that will easily work with my Clarisonic, and what I mentioned above are absolute must haves for what I am looking for in a cleanser. (It can be any formulation- oil, gel, whatever as long as it will work with my Clarisonic!) Thank you and Merry Christmas!
My T-Zone is the worst! Specifically, my nose. My nose is where I get all of the acne and redness (rosacea). I have prescription for those problems. I have the whole combination of skin tones-oily, dry, pores. Putting foundation (liquid and powder) works well all over my face except my nose. It usually dries and ends up looking hideously crusty! I've used the combination of foundation/lotion, liquid/powder, oil/foundation- all of no success. I just end up with foundation everywhere except my red nose. I would very much appreciate advice and product recommendations on combating this problem of mines.
This past weeks I been having more acne than i usually have, but what really concerns me it's that when I apply makeup my skin looks really flaky around my nose and a little bit between my brows, what do you think it's causing it and what can I do to stop it? I thought that maybe I was applying my makeup in the wrong way or my brushes were dirty, but I tried using different products and I washed my brushes and nothing. I have normal to dry skin, I exfoliate twice a week and use Argan Oil (the light version) every night and before applying my makeup, I don't use any moisturizers because they feel really heavy on my skin.
Hi everyone, I'm looking for a good cream or serum for my mother (who is 60). Her skin is definitely showing signs of aging with wrinkles, darker spots, and light sagging. It'd be great to get advice for tried and true products! Thanks very much in advance!
I used to use Kinerase face lotion and LOVED it, but it is no longer being made and I need to find a replacement. Any advise? I liked that it was light and not greasy and it also helped diminish imperfections over time, such as lines and scars.
Hello! I just had a question about the Clarisonic and a LUSH facial mask I've been using, the Mask of Magnaminty. I worry that the exfoliation of the mask may be too harsh when used in conjunction with the clarisonic or vice versa. I currently use the sensitive brush head but I also have a cashmere one on hand. Does anyone have any experience/advice on this topic? I love both items and would love to continue using them, but I worry they may be too harsh on my skin.
Hey all! I know i've posted about this line before but I just wanted to any if any of you were using the various products from their line and how you find them. Just purchased several products after falling in love with the TLC Night Serum so while I wait for them to arrive I figured I would see how others feel
I am looking for a good moisturizer to put on before bed. I have combination skin. I don't really use anything now but feel like I need to start. I have some sun damage to my face and am starting to get wrinkles on my forehead. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
