Fresh vs. Philosophy?

I am just curious which cleanser people enjoy more. I own both the Fresh Soy Face cleanser, as well as Philosophy's Purity cleanser. Which did you prefer?

I would go with Fresh Soy Cleanser over Philosophy Purity Cleanser.  The chemicals in Purity irritate my combination skin and leave it feeling very stripped.  Fresh is somewhat hydrating and rinses clean and I also like using that with my Clarisonic.  There's no reason you can't use your Clarisonic daily, especially if you have combination skin.  If you feel it's too much on your skin, use a more sensitive brush head, change your cleanser, or be sure to not use pressure on your face when cleansing.  Even people with Rosacia can use a Clarisonic so it shouldn't be stripping your skin.  That would be your cleanser or temperature of water.  Ole Henriksen makes a most amazing cleanser in their African Red Tea line that is self-foaming.  This is great for most skin types!

I have tried both of those cleansers, as well as boscia, the body shops Mattfying cleanser and lotion. still on the search for the "best cleanser"....

Purity left my face dry and tight, i have combo skin but in the summer it tends to be more oily and in winter dryier.. I DID NOT like purity at all, it really did nothing but dry out my face, and we all know that if your ph balance feels dry the skin will produce more oil to get the face to its natural ph balance.

The soy cleanser, i did like it was soft and smooth, loved the moisturizer, but like all the other reviewers, its not the best at taking off allll your makeup, so i wipe it off with a towel and then wash my face, also use my clarisonic with it every 2 days, so i dont strip my face of its natural oils.

i hope this review helps, when i was in high school i used to have really good skin, i used clean and clear, but they no longer make the products i used, not that i use makeup i believe my skin has gotten a little worse.. oh well the price of beuaty i tell you :smileyhappy:..

I haven't tried the Fresh one, but I've used Philosphy's. It's not my favorite, but it's not bad either. I have normal skin and it didn't dry me out. I found that it's not the best for removing long wear/waterproof eye make up as it doesn't break it down as fast as my Exuviance gel cleanser, but it does a decent job, just takes a little longer.

I have a travel bottle of it so I use it when I'm on the road. I'm not 100% convinced or in love with it, but I'll still use it if it's what I have around.

I don't really like them either. I used Philosphy's for awhile until it was empty and it was super drying on me. Fresh is ok, but it does leave that layer everyone is talking about. I use Lancome's cream cleanser and that seems to be doing the trick for me. Good luck!

Hi,

I absolutely love the Soy Face Cleanser by Fresh. The reason I love it, is because I can use it daily without it stripping my skin and also removes my makeup. I love it with my Clarisonic.

The purity is a great cleanser, but for me it can be a bit drying and is more of a cleanser I do once in awhile.

Something that I've been into is cocktailing my skincare cleansers. You might like mixing the two cleanser together and love how that works for your skin.

Re: Fresh vs. Philosophy?

I personally prefer Philosophy, Fresh, for me, fir not clean well and still felt dry, I was so hummed knowing this is suppose to be one of best and non drying...

The search for my trusted only facial cleanser took me thousands of dollars from bottom of line to top of the line and back again! Oh and YEARS!! UGH! The only time Philosophy's "Purity" feels drying to my face but I have discovered for two reasons thus far 1) exfoliation needed - so I either exfoliate (if have time or gently lather one more time rinse gently. (Don't feel tight after this I have dryer combo skin that breaks out easy). Or 2) apply purity and do not let it sit on my face before completing w Clarisonic. My rationale is this helps dissolve tl the "ick" out of my pores and layers of my face.

I'm 39 years-young and Purity has kept my non- oily breakout prone skin clear longest w minimal small breakouts and cleaner pores. YAY! I still sneak to try others every once and a while but still venture back.

Neither actually. Fresh Soy is comparable to Boscia cleanser, both are very gentle and non-irritating and does not wash off make up or cleans enough for my combo skin. I feel like they leave a protective layer or something suppose to be good for you on the skin, but I don't want that since I''m going to use toner/serum/moisturizer afterward, so I just want my cleanser to clean really well without drying. Philosophy purity feel so chemical-y and dried out my skin.

I actually have 3 go-to cleansers. L'oreal 360 Clean for all purpose makeup remover+facial/brush cleanser and I like the little pad and it's cheap. Clinique liquid soap for oily skin when I'm not wearing make up cuz it's gentle, cleans well, and basic/works with any toner/moisturizer. When I need a little extra oomph, Peter Thomas Roth anti-aging cleanser is awesome at thoroughly cleaning off everything while leaving my skin smooth, and it helps my acne a bit. But, it's expensive, so right now I'm just using the L'oreal and Clinique.

Re: Fresh vs. Philosophy?

I agree with Beautytester.  Neither.  Both were extremely drying to my skin, even though they are "considered" to be moisiturizing.  I prefer Ren's Hydro Cream cleanser, which is far gentler and works just as good.
