When Hope is Not Enough

I am 37 years old.  I currently use Hope in A Jar and Help Me. What is the difference between the 3 When Hope is not Enough products  (serum, oil, cream?)  Also how do I know if I need the Vitamin C booster?

Love these products! But confusing hey? So the plain old When Hope Is Not Enough (WHINE) Serum is the basic formula, for the lack of a better word. It is rich in antioxidants and serves many purposes, some of which are to tone, firm, and promote radiance. Its description on Sephora pretty much sums it up. Now, the WHINE Replenishing Serum is the same but it has omegas which are good for aging skin as they improve elasticity. Finally, the WHINE cream is an emollient moisturizer suited for dry, dehydrated skin and it also combats redness. They are all great products. A serum would be applied after cleansing the skin as the ingredients in serums tend to be more "potent" and penetrate deeper than creams. You would then follow up with your moisturizer after the serum has absorbed. For your current regime and more intense antiageing benefits, I would recommend you add the WHINE Replenishing Serum. I am 25 and I use the regular WHINE serum and I absolutely love it. It makes you glow. As for the Vitamin C Booster, anyone can benefit from adding this antioxidant to their routine (I use Ole Henriksen Truth Serum in the AM). Vitamin C also improves collagen production, which is also great for aging skin and preventative care. It's an easy product to use, just add it to your moisturizer. It will also make your skin more radiant, so you can't go wrong! You can also go to Philosophy's website and take their skin care quiz and it will make suggestions for you based on your answers. That's how I determined the products to use.

Thanks! That helps a lot. So in summary, I think you said I should add the WHINE replenishing serum? would i wear it durnig the day or at night? Do you use both the WHINE replenishing serum AND the Ole Henriksen Serum? Maybe it would help if you walked me through a typical day starting with morning cleansing and ending with bedtime :smileyhappy: Thanks, again!

It recommends at night which perplexes me because some recommendations say use antioxidants beneath SPF during the day to help wih antiageing benefits. Anyhow, I would not use the serums together. I would use Vitamin C AM and Replenishing PM. I warn that Vit C can cause your makeup to oxidize worse though, if you have oily skin, which I do. So, I alternate using Help Me and 10% glycolic acid night to night and I use the WHINE serum when my skin is clear and not breaking out. I believe I contacted someone at Philosoophy though, and they said it is effective to apply Help Me after cleansing, wait at least two minutes and apply WHINE (you always apply exfoliants first, in this case the retinol, if not using exfoliants, apply serums first). And I use Ole Henriksen AM when my skin is clear and I don't require a full face of makeup. Keep in mind that my skin is extreme and you may not have the same reactions as me though.

Morning:
If I didn't use an oily or heavy cream/treatment the night before, wipe with Bioderma H2O cleanser. Otherwise, Alyria Clarifying Oil Free Cleanser. Then La Roche Posay Effaclar K followed with Alyria Oil Free Hydrating Moisturizer after K has absorbed.
Night:
Remove eye makeup with Neutrogena Oil Free Makeup Remover then makeup with Bioderma. Cleanse with Alyria. Either Help Me or glycolic, followed by Effaclar Duo then same moisturizer as AM.
I have very thick, easily clogged, oily, acne prone, hard to cleanse skin though, so this may be extreme for you. I do recommend a micellar water for makeup removal however as well as a soap free, ph balancing cleanser. Don't use toner unless it's alcohol free. Then alternate your treatments, make sure you incorporate antioxidants somehow (i.e., I use Ole Henriksen African Tea Toner), and use a basic oil free moisturizer regularly.

does sephora sell the african tea toner? I didn't see it? So I should cleanse in the morning, apply the Vitamin C (Ole Henrikson), then apply the Hope in a Jar moisturizer. Cleanse in PM, use the African Tea Toner, apply WHINE replenishing serum and then moisturizer? I should say my skin is pretty normal, no major issues. Just trying to help it look youthful and slow down aging :smileyhappy:

They do. Its full name is Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Face Mist. I would do this regime, but I would keep using Help Me. Either before WHINE (wait two minutes between application) or alternate between Help Me and WHINE night by night. Also, be sure you are using SPF. I think these products will be great to slow down aging!
