Skin Care Regimen for 30-ish and acne.

I have skin that balances on a little bit more oily (towards the end of the day), but dry on my chin. I have acne, at least one blemish all the time and then red post acne marks. I have been using Clinique Face wash for oily skin.  It has cleared up my skin a bit, but it is not clear.  I also you a toner with salicylic acid (2%) and then the Clinique Dramatically different gel moisturizer. I'm just not pleased with it.

Do you have any suggestions as to what I can use?  I'm 33 - so I am worried about aging skin along with the acne.

Hello!  Your skin sounds a lot like mine.  I tried the Clinique routine and it was not for me.  I have finally found the perfect routine for my skin, and it's working fantastic.   Here's what I use.  I hope some or all of it helps!

Day:

Cleanser:  Purity Made Simple daily.  Twice a week, I use Philosophy Microdelivery instead.  I love the Purity Made Simple.  It's very balancing.  It's hydrating, but doesn't leave my skin feeling oily.  The Microdelivery is nice a few times a week instead to help get red of those dry flakes and make my foundation go on smoother.

Moisterizer:  Boscia Black Hydration Gel.  This is a new addition to my routine.  Before this I was using Ole Henrikson Vitamin Plus, which I had no complaints about, but the Boscia Black hydration gel seems to be actually improving my skin as opposed to the Vitamin Plus which was just not making it worse.  Both of these are more hydrating for me than the Clinique was, but not so much that they turn me into a greaseball.

Primer:  Philosophy Present Clear Make Up.  I use this even when I'm not going to wear foundation.  A tiny amount, less than the size of a pea is needed.  It just helps to lock in the moisture and makes my skin look a little better.

Foundation:  Make Up Forever Mat Velvet.  This foundation is amazing.  It leaves me looking nice and matte, and it doesn't feel heavy like some I have tried.  It also doesn't break me out, unlike a lot of other foundations I have tried.

Setting Powder:  Tarte Smooth Operator Finishing Powder.  I love this stuff.  It does an amazing job and I like that it helps your skin long term as well.

As needed:  Boscia Blotting Linens.  I actually only need to do this once a day on a bad day.

Evening:

Cleanser:  Purity Made Simple, with my Clarisonic Mia.  The Mia was a recent purchase, and really had made a huge difference in my skin.  It doesn't shrink my pores, or work any miracles, but it does leave my skin cleaner, which has helped with break outs.  I only use it as night though.  I found twice a day was just too much for me.  Before I bought the mia, I bought a $5 Sephora brush.  It also helped, although not as much as the Mia, so if you're looking for something but don't want to break the bank, give that a shot.

Moisterizer:  Ole Henrikson Invigorating Night Gel, followed by Ole Henrikson Sheer Transformation.  This combo really works to help eliminate old acne scars for me.  It's kind of my little miracle worker actually.

A few times a week I also add in either the Boscia Luminizing Black Mask or the Boscia Clarifying Detox Mask

depending on what I feel like I need.  The Luminizing Black Mask is my favorite mask and really does a great job of ripping gunk out of my pores, but if I'm breaking out more than usual or feel like I just need a deep clean, I go for the Clarifying Detox mask.  It always leaves me feeling fantastic, and it makes a great spot treatment over night as needed.
