Airplane skincare advise
I'll be taking an overnight flight and wanted to get some tips on skincare to prevent my skin from drying out and breaking out.  My beauty advisor at Sephora recommended the Ole Henrikson making removing cloths followed by the Murad Clarifying wipes to remove makeup, sunscreen, and clean my skin.  I purchased these two items.  Then I was thinking about what to follow it with.  I was thinking of the Nude Overnight Mask or the Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Sleeping Mask.  Any opinions on the Nude mask vs the Amore Pacific Mask?  I've used the Nude mask (not on the plane), but never tried the Amore Pacific.  Also, do I need to use any other treatments or moisturizers before the mask?   Thanks! ths-makeup-removing-P385344?skuId=1597178 h-prone-skin-P376081?skuId=1468271 overy-mask-P296442?skuId=1583053 repair-mask-P385678

Korres price increase
I was browsing around the Korres page to see the new stuff that has come in, and I noticed the price increase in my favorite, Wild Rose cream. I know prices increase every year, but a sudden $3 increase? Who am I kidding I'll still buy it ...ahh...why must I love it so much? I wonder how they determine which products/brands they'll increase pricing for?   On a side note, has anyone tried the new Black Pine line? I'm so tempted to try it. A review reader's pet peeves
So most of you have probably seen the thread about Benefit reviewing there own product with 5 stars. That got me thinking about some reviewing habits I hate.   1. Rating something poorly because the shopper bought the wrong color.  This is my #1 annoyance because I see it so often. They'll have no complaints about the product, might even love how it works, but they'll give it a 2 star review because the shade doesn't flatter them.  If a foundation oxidizes really orange, or if the pigmentation of a product is terrible, by all means, give it a bad review. But when you buy a foundation without testing it first, or realize the shade of lipstick you bought isn't as flattering as you first thought, don't blame the product.   2. Rating something badly when the shopper knowingly used it wrong. You know how a lot of people like to multipurpose makeup, or store it in odd ways? It's great when it works, often resulting in fun looks for the home and for the face.  Thing is, some products aren't made to work two jobs. You might have the best lipstick in the world, but it sucks as a cheek stain. Why? Because it's a lipstick and was designed to go on your lips, not your face. Unless you bought one of those products made to multitask, don't give bad reviews because you used a product for an unintended purpose. Same goes for storage. Don't complain that a mascara dries out quickly if you say you've got a habit of leaving the tube open for days on end.   3. Unrealistic expectations for price/quality range This one can be hard to judge, both as a review reader and writer, which is why it's last on my list. Some people get angry when a $5 product doesn't work as well as a $50 product that they're used to. The product might work great for it's price, but you'd never know that from reading the review. Likewise, some people might be over enthused by $50 product that works better than the $5 product they're used to. The $50 product might be terrible for it's price, but the reviewer doesn't realize it because the product is still better than what they're used to. From what they write it might be the best product in the world, when really it' s a waste of money.     If you guys can't tell, I've also just sorted through a bunch of poorly done reviews while trying to research products, so I needed a little venting haha. Does anyone else have any major review annoyances?

Amazing Cosmetics Concealer - Wearing Off Quickly
I've been trying out a bunch of concealers lately to hide the few blemishes and mild/moderate acne scars on my face. My favorite so far is Amazing Cosmetics Concealer because it's the most opaque one I've ever used and covers perfectly on the first try. However, I notice that when I get home from work and look in the mirror the concealer has worn off.   Any advice on why this is happening? I don't use a primer (I'm hearing your gasps!) but I do use a setting powder everyday (MUFE's HD powder). I wouldn't think I'd need a primer because I've never used one before and haven't noticed this issue with any of the other concealers I've used. So is it me not using a primer, is there some other trick to help make it last all day, or is this a common occurrence with this concealer? Help me, beauty gurus!

Sephora vs. Ulta - The Verdict
I've been a VIB for a few years now, and my local Sephora is within walking distance of that "other" brand. I've heard rave reviews about their rewards program, most especially about their generous giving of free product with each new level reached and not samplers.   Today, I headed to my Sephora store for the VIB event, got my bag loaded up, and then...went to Ulta. I was actually there to get a tube of NYX lip gloss since I've heard so much about it, but I went through the whole store out of pure curiosity.   The verdict? While Ulta does carry drugstore brands and their rewards are pretty lofty in comparison...Sephora has my heart. Ulta felt too "superstore-ish". No offense, but a little...below...the standard and prestige of Sephora. So, Sephora, heed our call! Amp up our VIB rewards. Tidy up the shelves and demos in your stores (our store is a tad lacking in that dept.). And, keep up the great work! = )

First Experience at SiJCP
I went to SiJCP in search of Beauty spatulas.  They were also having a Benefit They're Real liner event, and I was interested in getting a custom skincare kit.  The first lady I talked to had no idea what spatulas I was referring to (come to find out she was not really helpful at all will explain later). Gabbi came over and showed me to the spatulas. I got the last ones. She confirmed they are not coming back in stock, which I knew thanks to the lovely Randee. I asked her if I could participate in the They're Real liner event. She grabbed the tester and started sanitizing it. I informed her that I would rather not have that put on my eyes even with sanitation and would just prefer to use the sample they were giving out for my eyes. Apparently, they ran out the first day of the event (whenever that was). That was odd, because I overheard a different associate talking about a headpiece she was wearing and she said Benefit sent them a bunch of stuff for the event. I almost said but refrained that it would have been nice if they sent more liner. I could not care less about their fancy accessories, but I would have liked to try the liner. I cannot be the only one who does not want the tester to touch my eyes. I saw the tip, and I doubt alcohol could sanitize it well enough.   I needed $45 to qualify for Rouge, so I figured I might as well go for it. There were nowhere near enough spatulas alone to get me there, so I found a few other items. I wanted a custom skincare kit, but they were fresh out. When the first lady scanned me up, she said I re-qualified for VIB. Correction, that was months ago. She called another employee (the one who was loving the Benefit accessories) over and she concurred that my Rouge status would not be effective yet, because my last purchase was less than 24 hours ago. It updated online already, so I thought that was weird. Anyway, I told her just to ring up the spatulas. I did ask her for samples, and she gave me the Murad one and the Philosophy perfume. Two more than I ever get in a freestanding store.   On my way out, I noticed a sale section that has some of the same items in the website's sales section, but the prices were better. I grabbed a few. This time, Gabbi checked me out. She mentioned that I was $9 and some change off from Rouge, which was odd because I thought the items would have gotten me there. I added one more item on to get me over. Yay. I made Rouge. She insisted on finding me a kit with a lipstick, which was very nice of her. At first she mentioned getting me a mirror, but she said they were out. A completely different lady told her she should give me a packet full of samples, which she did! I was very happy about that.   When I got home, I noticed that the Beauty insider account number on the spatula receipt was not even mine. I wish I would have noticed when I was in the store. It makes sense now that I think about it, because there is no way I would just be qualifying for VIB. I hope whoever I qualified is grateful I got her/him there. However, I want the purchase transferred to my account, so I sent Randee a pm. Gabbi put the second purchase on my Beauty insider account, so I would have qualified the first time if the unhelpful lady would have used my account. I am actually glad it worked out the way it did. I doubt I would have stopped by the sales section had I already qualified. The lady who suggested I get the bag of Rouge samples was not at the register the first time either, so I would have missed those as well. That lady never even heard me ask for samples, so it was so nice of her to offer them out of the blue. Overall, I rate my first experience a B (taking points off for having a They're Real event without samples they are advertising, and ringing me up on the wrong Beauty Insider account despite giving her my VIB card). I cannot really hold the lack of skincare samplers against them as items sell out when they're good.   One final thought, I am glad I saw the Divergent polish in person and never ordered it first. As I never return anything, I would have been mighty upset that two of the colors were grossly separated, and I could not shake them back to normal (yes I tried, because all 6 polishes were on sale for $5.99)!

My "Breakup Makeup" Order
I've been on the verge of tears literally all day and I will admit that I may have cried a bit in the bathroom at work today (thankfully I was already in a stall) boyfriend of 4 years and I broke up this past Sunday. It was something that I had been wanting to breach for a few months now and in the end, it was pretty mutual. Despite the fact that I wanted this, I'm still quite heart broken. Becoming A Makeup Artist
Hello! My name is Karson, and I am a fifteen year old sophomore in high school. At this age all anybody ever asks me is "What do you want to be when you get out out of high school?" My answer is always that I would love to be a makeup artist. Whenever I tell people this, they laugh and say that I can't live off of being a makeup artist. But if makeup is my passion, I think I can prove them wrong. If people such as Wayne Goss, Jaclyn Hill, and Michelle Phan can do it…why can't I?    I have a few issues with proceeding to this career though. My family is very tight on money, even if I ask for drugstore makeup for my birthday my mother yells at me. Nobody is supportive about my decision. And there are no makeup classes for people my age in the area of where I live.    So, I come here for advice. How could I convince to my parents that makeup artistry is a career that I can gradually get into, and what should I do if they continue to be unsupportive?    I am also looking into colleges or schools to go to when I get out of high school but I don't know where to start. Should I be looking up cosmetology schools, or just plain makeup artistry schools?

Tarte sold out to a company that tests on animals...
This is their Facebook status:    To all of our tartelettes: As you may have heard, tarte has recently been acquired by Japanese company KOSÉ. It’s truly been an amazing ride, from the little venture Maureen Kelly started in her bedroom 15 years ago to the global powerhouse we’re privileged to join. Our vision has always been to create beauty products that are ‘healthy treats for your skin,’ foster the highest level of customer service and give back to the community and the environment. By joining the KOSÉ family and adding to that rich portfolio, we can build on what we’ve already accomplished with powerful products and explore expanding the tarte brand in new and exciting countries. And rest assured, we are committed to remaining a cruelty-free brand and will not test on animals. Maureen will stay on as the CEO and looks forward to continuing a lasting relationship with our tartelettes. xo, the tarte team!   While they claim they will remain cruelty free the new parent company KOSÉ DOES test on animals.  So extremely disappointing that Maureen decided to become a big sellout like so many other brands that start out with good intentions but cave into the money. No ethics after all I guess.    I can't post outside links but go ahead and google "KOSÉ animal testing" and see for yourself.

color IQ for lips?
I went to Sephora today for a supposed #mouthoff event that I came across online -- but the sales associates had no idea what I was talking about. :-( In any case, she told me that they are coming out with a sort of color match for lips that's in conjunction with the color IQ. It's not online yet, but they had a binder with all of the color IQ numbers and corresponding lip shade matches (in nudes, corals, plums, reds) sooo she showed me some a couple of my matches and found a gorgeous NARS satin lip pencil (majella) in a red that I was comfortable with/could actually pull off.   Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has gotten a chance to try this out, or know any other details about this color IQ component making it online?

Hello, I am writing out of desperation so please do NOT disregard this and help if you can.   So a bit more than 2 months ago I was searching for toners, toners for GLOWING SKIN! I did a lot lot lot of research to find a good one with a big number of positive reviews and a couple of days into my research I found this toner that was reviewed by the community on Sephore!! (THANK YOU GUYS AT SEPHORA AS ALWAYS!!). But here is the very sad part. I fantasized about having the product day in day out and even had a routine ready which I would follow when I finally had the product but 6 weeks down the track when I finally wanted to order the tonner I HAD FORGOTTEN ITS NAME. I tried rigorously to find the product for literally HOURS every night 2 weeks straight and had no luck what so ever. I hate my self for it and I will never be able to forgive my self if I don’t find it. That’s how much I need it and that’s how much it means to me.   IF YOU LADIES WHO ARE READING THIS CAN HELP ME WITH THE NAME I WILL BE FOREVER INDEBTTED TO YOU aAND WILL LOVE YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.   So about the product, I do remember a couple of things. It was a WHITE bottle with a GOLDEN/YELLOWISH cap (has a really posh and expensive look to it!! All their products are like that white with golden caps). The BRAND NAME was the name of the CREATOR, the skin cosmetician himself, for example OLE HENRIKSEN (it’s the brand name and the name of the skin cosmetician who created it). The brand name was a EUROPEAN one…… It sounded more FRENCH if anything. It wasn’t one of the main stream ones we all know off like Loral Paris or Maybelline. The PRICE TAG was EXPENSIVE. Can’t really remember what it was but I think it was $100 and over. Probably the most important aspect I remember about the toner was the fact that it had OVER A THOUSAND REVIEWS and had a FOUR AND A HALF STARS rating. So it was reallllllyyyyy good   Once again please help me! I know and clearly understand that it is not your job to find it for me but I have tried EVERYTHING and this is my last HOPE.
