🌹Happy Mothers Day to all of the Mom's out there, both human and furbaby (etc.) Moms.🌹I'd been planning on doing a Mothers Day thread. Then I posted something a while back, just a silly but sweet story about how my Mom saved the day with a Wet & Wild lipstick. I almost didn't post it, thought it might be silly or something, but to my surprise, there was an outpouring of love that was wonderful and overwhelming. Someone suggested starting a thread then and repeating the story, so I had decided not to wait until Mothers Day, but as they say, 'the best laid plans'. (Maybe I couldn't 'go there'?) So here I am now, finally. I will post that story a little later. I have to get my beauty sleep right now, going to 'visit' my Mom & Dad tomorrow. (Well, actually later today.) So I will be back later and I hope this thread lights up the board and that love, memories (of makeup, skincare, haircare and more) will be here then. I know I'm not the only one who has lost someone - be it a close human or furry family member, other relative, friend etc. So maybe we can share stories, maybe good or bad makeup advice from your makeup mentors, how your makeup, skincare, haircare and other skills and how your look was influenced and how it evolved and came to be and maybe do some healing. This is my first Mothers Day without my Mom, again, I'm sure I'm not alone in this. So this is an especially rough one - all of those Hallmark Cards commercials are killing me! But such is life. Many hearts are a bit sadder today, but let's be happy for days gone by and be happy for those who still have their Moms. May you all have a special day. If you've been out of touch, maybe this is good support to help you reach out if you can. One of my Best friends has been there for me like you would not believe. 👭She just sent me The most beautiful card imaginable. I will be back later and I will try to share it with you. (A little afraid that once I start writing it I might change my mind and need to keep it to myself a little longer - but I will try. I just didn't want to promise and then not do it) This thread does not have to end today, when Mothers Day has passed. Hopefully we can keep it going and flowing to the right places at the right time in the future. Let's hope this helps now and in the future when other unavoidable losses will occur. I hope we have a lot of fun with this, maybe some tears - hopefully some happy ones. Stories of how we received our makeup, skin, hair training and makeup, hair, skin tips, and other things that I may not have mentioned too. I'm sure everyone has received good and bad makeup tips, let's share those in order to keep us looking our best and help others from making makeup blunders! See you all later. This one's for my Mom. 🌷 Hope no typos etc - hard to see them through my eyelids. 😉 Sorry so long. EDIT - The day hasn't gone as planned, I need to go back through threads to find the story I mentioned above. (Ruh-Roh) I will try to come back a little later. But, heck, even if it is tomorrow - who cares? Every Day should be Mothers Day. *Since this is also about makeup, skincare etc, and our mentors and inspirations, this can go on for as long as we want. Hope to be back this evening (7:15p EST now) but once I come back and find it I'll post it, I'll be back. Want to finish reading other posts that I haven't yet gotten to. I Hope everyone is enjoying the day. For those of us who are not in celebratory mode today, at least we know we are not alone - others know just where we are. Just have to remember good times, Yes, I know that's much easier said then done. ** Please remember we are a Sisterhood and each link makes all of us stronger. ** *Some great lipstick and love of beautification doesn't hurt either! 😉💋
Hi everyone! I can't find a thread about Ciate so thought I'll make one since I'm so so excited for their new eye-shadow palettes. The teasers on Instagram are killing me with suspense! I think they look gorgeous already and plan to get all of them! What does everyone think about their recent launches? I have both the Olivia Palermo eye-shadow palettes and they are definitely my go to for everyday and special occasion makeup. PS: I've never made a thread before so please let me know if this is OK!!
Okay, problem - I'm debating between: 1815760 - GRANDE LIPS GrandLIPS Hydrating Lip Primer - it says it's $27.00 and is .05oz . ~COMPARED TO~ 1798164 - Guerlain Abaille Royal Honey Smile Lift which is $82.00 ( ) BUT It says it's .5oz. (which I really have no business buying, but it's on saaaaaale! and it also is a much better value if sizes are correct.) What's wrong with This picture? Comparing sizes and prices, it seems like a no brainer - Guerlain, while pricey, offers much more product. That's IF the size info is correct. (Plus it's Guerlain and fancy and makes me feel a bit.....Ooh-La-La 😙) Then let's add a little more confusion to my brain - It's 1022318 - Guerlain Liplift Lip Primer - it's .11oz and is $37.00. Granted, somewhat different product, but it seems to have it's merits and has been on my radar for some time. So afraid something may sell out - and of course that's the one I'll decide I Neeeeeed. You all know how it is. Thanks a bunch, I really do appreciate it, hope others will too. 🌷 There are others, but I'll leave it there for now. If anyone has any other info, experiences with these products , or other products in this arena, I would appreciate any and all info & insight greatly. I do like 'the tingle' of most products, btw.🍀 EDIT- Yeah, duh, could just check Guerlain's & GRANDELIPS websites. Have to sign off for now though. Sorry so long. Thanks.
Hey I'm not sure if this question is answered anywhere but I've tried looking for it with no luck. What determines those titles that everyone has like "SCENE QUEEN" or "BEAUTY BUFF" or "SPECIAL GUEST"... what makes anyone any of those? I was something like 'SCENE QUEEN" once and now I'm a "BEAUTY RESIDENT"... There are so many titles that I don't know which is better or worse per se. Is it simply the number of questions you answer? Or what? Why isn't there some kind of page which lists all of the titles and what they mean because they seem kind of random to me.
I need help linking my beauty insider card that I just got today in-store at Sephora. The lady who gave me the card only asked for my name and last name. I made a sephora account today, since I thought I could link my card to my sephora account online but am having trouble doing so. Any help would be nice!
Hey guys, I think I'm going to become VIB during the spring sale. Just wondering if I'll be able to use the 10% off with the existing 15% off during the sale? I know it won't be possible online due to the no stacking option, but what about in store? Has anybody experienced something similar?
Hey! I don't know if this is the right spot to ask this, but here goes: I saw that you guys got the Rainforest of the Sea collection from Tarte (yay! I love their stuff) but I was wondering if you think you'll ever get the Tarte Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation? It looks absolutely amazing and I really want to try it. I would order it from them directly, but I'd like to get it through you guys so I can collect beauty points (and also so I can come in and make sure they have my colour)
I will get us started with an unusual sample that immediately caught my eye. (It's been there for a while.) It's a sample of VERB Leave-in Mist ....in a foil. It surprised me to see this. The directions say "Mist throughout towel dried hair" and "comb through". I don't know, it just made me laugh. (more then I care to mention) I finally couldn't take it anymore and had to share. Wasn't sure if it's old news and/or where to post it, so started this new thread. Now, obviously the foil would give you the opportunity to smell it and probably use a very small portion rubbed between your hands before applying. So you might get some idea of how it works and smells. It just makes me chuckle every time I see it though. Hope it's entertaining to you gals too. I wonder how many people saw it and did the same double take that I did. I'm not blaming or bashing anyone, just trying to have some good clean fun. See something that's a little bit 'off'? Please post it so we can all have a good laugh. Thanks ladies, hope this ends up being a fun thread. 😊
Hi guys! Has anyone tried this shiseido set? I'm really curious about the effects. I'm looking to revamp my skincare routine and I currently use a bunch of drugstore stuff plus the ole henrikson truth serum and nurture me cream. I want something brightening and this really caught my eye. For those who have used it, what skin type does it seem to work for? I have combination skin with oily noise and forehead and drier cheeks and around the mouth area.
I've burned through a number of lighted magnified mirrors that I loved, but now I'm on the hunt for something new. Any suggestions of what to try or completely avoid? I use the lighted magnifier for tweezing on a very regular basis, I'm obsessed with finding every little tiny stray hair. I also carefully use an extractor for some stubborn blackheads. (I never use a blemish extractor with a lance on the end and caution others to avoid lances too, that should be left to a professional dermatologist.) Hence, the reason for burning through them so quickly, not cheap ones either. I use a regular mirror for applying skincare and makeup. I do my tweezing and makeup application while sitting on my bed, never in the bathroom. I don't want something you attach to a wall and would like to keep it under $75.00. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. 😊
I bought the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow pomade and #7 brush last year and bought another #7 brush and Anastasia Beverly Hills travel kit this year but my card didn't seem to show any points or my birthday to the cashier or online in my account?
had a makeover a few years ago at one of your stores. They recommended a mauve colored lipstick, which seems to be discontinued. Currently using shrinagar but not mauvey enough. I had med skin tone, hazel eyes & was told to stick with mauvey & rose colors. What do you recommend? It doesn't have to be Nars. Also I should add that I have very dry skin.

First forum post: I have been a VIB Rouge for 2-3+ years now. I just feel like the benefits listed on is not much different than that of the VIBs. Anyone feel the same? I don't really care if we get the the discount 1 week ahead of the VIB's... how is that "better" offer than what VIBs get. In addition, I feel like everyone gets the unlimited makeover. If you want to try out new things, the sephora employee will most likely help you and seat you down for the products you want to try. At the same time, I do not want to get the free makeover because the brushes and the tester products are infested with molds, germs, and fecal matters. I learned my lessons after getting huge break outs after getting helped by one of the sephora employee. The brushes that they used on me was already used on the previous person that they were helping (and god knows how many people that brush has been used on). She did not clean the brush off with the brush cleaner and tried to put the application on my face directly. I thought that was disgusting, I asked her if she can clean the brush before applying on my face and even still, the brush was not cleaned thoroughly. I also observed, people putting their hands and some people literally applying the lipsticks or lip-gloss directly on their mouth (the testers). I just feel like its not really hygienic, hence I do not apply any testers item beyond the palm of my hand (which is washed with the soap afterwards I leave the store). So VIB rouge gets unlimited makeovers, 1-3 times a year discount of 10%,15%, and if lucky 20%, and $25 off for 50 (from recent discount), and the supposed "surprise gift" that I never received (what is this surprise gift?? lol). All these benefits are VERY similar, if not, the same as what VIBs receive. Is there any way to offer better rewards for the rouge members? I spend like more than $2000.00 a year. I think this year alone, I am close to spending $3000.00 or more. I also found that the samples are not much given in the stores whenever I ask for samples. I guess the only perks of being a vib rouge is the online orders that I can get it for free + 3 samples that the store does not wish to give me. In addition, I really don't want samples with infested bacteria and everyone's fingers touched (its not hygienic for me to bring it home for me to apply on my face to get more breakouts). Another thing is that I went to retrieve my gift from the sephora store in costa mesa. Horrible customer service The lady give me a VIB gift without telling me. I was looking at my purchases while walking towards my car, and I noticed that my gift was VIB and not rouge! So I went back to get it exchanged and the lady was like "you should feel lucky that we even have the vib gift. It's just an eyeliner that the rouge get... its a tiny weeny bitty eyeliner.. nothing special really".... ummm what? ahhh ranting done. Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Hi Beautys! I have a question if someone can please help me. What do you usually use before you dip your brush into the cream contour? The reason I ask is because I notice that it is very hard to get the color out. When I see others put it on, it looks like they can get the color out easily but if I was to do that then I would have to dip it hard into the palette. Is there something that you suggest using before applying? Like spraying Fix+? Setting spray on the brush? Or onto the palette? I would appreciate your help... THANK YOU!!!
Hello everyone, I'm new to makeup world and first time posting on here. I recently bought Kat Von d liquid lipstick - my first liquid lipstick ever! Applying that is tricky. I need help ..if anyone can tell me any tricks/tips when applying. Should I wear lip primer or not? Any advice would be appreciated please.
Hi, I saw how this is an excellent highlighter, and I just wanted to know if it would be one that I could use. I use the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer- Amande. I have a concealer, and a foundation. Do you need a highlighter for dark circles? Thank you!
Hi! I use 1N3 Creamy Vanilla from Estee Lauder double wear maximum cover. I want to try something else because of the spf 15 that is in it and in some lights it makes your skin looks overlighted and like a ghost. I would LOVE to try the Kat von D lock it Foundation. The problem is that I live in Holland, and they don't sell it here, so I will have to order it without testing Does anyone know wich shade wil look the most like the estee lauder 1N3? Hope someone can help me. (I have a yellow undertone and a light skintone, but afraid that light is going to be to light)
I recently ordered and was so excited because I snagged some of the good samples upon ordering. Too bad, when I got my order not only was my samples substituted for another, but I'm short 1 sample does this really happen? why Sephora, why? didn't you know that samples encourages your customers to buy more stuff the next time? i'm soo dissapointed.
