If you had only $30 for anything in Sephora, what would you buy?
I received a $30 gift card to Sephora last week. I know it's not much. I can spend about $20 of my own money too. So I want to buy something really worth it. A staple. I am also new to makeup. I already have plenty of eye and lip products. Some of my favorite brands are Clinique, Bareminerals, Tarte, and Smashbox. So what should I spend with my $30????

Help for my mom?
My mom just recently started getting into makeup. She's really self conscious about how she looks for her age (even though I think she looks beautiful and all my friends think she looks great). She's trying to learn more and has been going to Clinique a lot lately for skin care advice and now makeup! I've been really into makeup for about 4 or 5 years now and I've learned a lot, but I've only really learned how to cater to girls my age (late high school/college). But I really want to help her and maybe get her a few basic things for mothers day (and her birthday coming up after) that I think would be good for her and help with what her "problem areas" are.   My mom is in her early/mid 50's. She has wrinkles on her eyelids and under her eyes. She also has some darkness and bags/wrinkles under her eyes. She says that her eye makeup and eyeliner do not last very long. She has been experimenting with foundations that will cover her dark spots (which are not too prominent on her face) and not settle into her wrinkles.   I was first going to pick up an eye primer for her because I think that's essential for anyone. I was going to get the too faced (color correcting) primer, but I was also considering getting a nude mac paint pot because those are quite a bit thicker than the too faced primer. But I'm not sure which would be better for wrinkles.   Also I was considering getting her the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette because it's all neutral shadows (which she likes) and they're all matte (which I've been told draws less attention to wrinkles).   I also wanted to get her a blush and some brushes, but any suggestions will help! I know what kinds of products work best for my age, but I'm not as educated on what will help older women. So I appreciate anyone who can share any tips!

i love beauty talk
Since we have had a lot of threads here that are not that uplifting, I wanted to start a thread that we can all pat each other on the back and say what a wonderful job we have all been doing in making this community!   I am newer to this community, and I just want to say that I have had SUCH an amazing experience in this forum! Beauty talk is great because I can get feedback from everyone about what they loved/disliked and why. I love that we can all be friends and even if we disagree, we can disagree respectfully. I have not had a single person in this forum be rude to me in any way, shape, or form.   Everyone in this forum interacts so well with each other, and even though I am new, so many people have been very welcoming.   I hope everyone else loves beauty talk as much as I do (I'm seriously like addicted.. I read every single thread..lol).   Also, the mods have been amazing! They are all so friendly and they help me just as much as all my fellow beauty talk members!!

BT Views on Different Browsers and Computers
I was wondering if anyone noticed how BT looks and functions on different browsers and computers?   At home, I use a Toshiba Satellite laptop (can't recall model number and whatnot), and I primarily use Google Chrome. My online classes load all weird with Internet Explorer. With those two, BT looks great and functions correctly.   However, on campus is a different story. Most of the computers are Dells (*sigh*/no offense) and there are some Macs here and there. On the Dells, I have to use Internet Explorer. Google Chrome is an option, but it requires you to set up your profile and whatnot. BT looks out of line, and I cannot directly reply to responses. I'm willing to bet it's the browser, but I'm just curious if others are having similar issues.   Here's a screenshot of the BT screen on campus.  Well, there was supposed to be a screenshot.  I uploaded it, or so I thought, but apparently IE does not like it.

I am very impressed with Pantone Color IQ :)
Hi everyone!   I just wanted to let you all know that I visited the Sephora store at the Toronto Eaton Centre today and was colour matched to foundations using Pantone Color IQ. (Which they had for a special limited time this weekend.) I tested one of the matches on myself (Urban Decay's Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid foundation in 3.5) and was very impressed to see that it literally disappeared into my skin and was completely undetectable! I also compared it with the one I'm already using (the same  foundation in 2.0) and I noticed that, although I CAN wear 2.0 as well, it actually "sits on top" of my skin a little more, whereas 3.5 (my color IQ match) completely disappeared!  (I picked out 2.0 by myself BTW LOL) I emailed the matches to myself and read over the whole list too, and, although I haven't tried most of them yet I think they all sound pretty good!   So, yes, I am very impressed with this new technology, and very happy to see that it helped me to find my best foundation matches! I definitely think that Color IQ is a very helpful tool that you should permanently have in Sephora stores.

Posting Error Messages
I've noticed this a couple of times already in the new layout/design where if you try to paste a portion of text to a response (for example from another posting), you get an error message that the HTML code is not allowed but has been removed and ready to be posted; however, in one instance today I left a response for a user in a thread but after posting it, I realized rather than putting it inline with my first comment in which she replied to, I made it as a stand alone response. I deleted that one and tried to respond inline to her directly but was told my response which I copied and pasted into the text box had an HTML code that needed to be removed and was, but then got another error messaging stating I might be flooding the forum.   With the new text box/response box layout there's no way for us to go back and edit HTML details like before so I'm not sure how BT can bring this as an error up without allowing users to change it themselves.   Just something that might be looked into. I ended up sending a personal message to the user so it wasn't like I couldn't get across what I needed, but it's a bit of a hassle when the text box portion has been so simplified. The only time one can possibly see a wider view is when they edit their response then it brings the old style of "Body, Rich Text, HTML, and Preview" options back.   I just tried to post this under Beauty Talk Support but was told it needed a category, I was confused as BT Support is a category, anywho, I couldn't move forward until I changed it, so it's under Bright Ideas, I know it's not the best place for it, but alas, one can only do so much.

Botox for Chronic Migraine Upper Eyelid Nightmare...HELP! :)
Hi Sephora Fans,       After suffering from chronic migraine and post concussion syndrome from playing division one basketball, my migraine specialist scheduled me in for the latest and effective migriane treatment: botox. Even though it was used for headaches, it's the same product as the botox used for cosmetics. I'm only 23, but still, I was pretty excited to get it , however after it was done, I had some insane "angry eyebrows" and my upper eyelids (which are puffy enough already) became so swelled and droopy that I refused to even leave the house. 4 weeks later, I still look super angry and cartoon-ish all the time. HELP! What product should I try to reduce this upper eyelid droop/puffiness/swelling?   Thanks so much! -Meg

Got hearts?
I feel as if since the new format, it's not as heart friendly.  I mean, we can still give out hearts but it takes two steps instead of one, at least for me on the app.  I also feel as if my rate of acquiring hearts has slowed down, but maybe that is because I haven't been on quite as much...   how do you heart?  Do you give them out lots or forget all the time?  I give hearts lots and lots for sure, unless I really don't like a post....it's my way of not saying anything mean but quietly disagreeing with someone.  I just don't give out a heart.  Silly, i know....Do tell guys!
