I cant decide, there are so many items I am so tired of seeing in the sale section, not even 50% would make me buy them. My vote is tied between the Emerald nail ring and the Lace Lashes. Anyone else tired of seeing something in there to?
As 2014 comes to a close, I have resolved to actually use my samples in 2015. I've seen some other ladies make similar statements on here as well. So... I've established "Sample Saturday". Every Saturday I plan to pick a sample (or two) and use it! I thought this would be a fun way for me to use my sample stash and I wanted a way to record my thoughts so I thought I'd start a thread. If you want to play along, grab a sample and let's get going! I thought we could post what product we are trying and our first impressions, adding follow up information when necessary. Tonight I am trying: * Phyto Tous Cheveux Secret De Nuit; Intense Hydration Regenerating Night Cream First impression: It's not heavy or greasy, as I thought it would be. I applied it to towel-dried hair after I got out of the shower. I like that it's not heavy but so far I don't feel like it's moisturizing my hair at all. I applied extra to the ends of my hair as they are very dry and damaged (I need a haircut). We shall see how my hair feels in the morning! * Stella Body Lotion (from the delight promo) First impression: This lotion smells lovely but it's really watery and I don't feel like it moisturizes my skin at all. I prefer heavy lotions and wear primarily body butters. It smells amazing and is by far my best smelling lotion, it's just too watery and lightweight for me. I will, however, continue to use it because it smells so *$#^ delicious! =0) We'll see if my skin feels moisturized in the morning.

For those of us that love lipsticks and have several of them, do you rotate or reach for the same few? I wear some more than others. And some have been neglected a lot (although they are very pretty). I thought of holding myself to wearing a new lipstick everyday for 30 days. Lets see how long this will last. If I last 30 days, maybe I will go longer. Ha...lets see if I last 2 weeks. Anybody else? I am quite excited about it.... Day 1, 11/10/14 - Maybelline Vivids in Vivid Rose. Happy December, guys! I, for one, love December. We have so many lovely holidays (& my birthday), and holidays = presents (& eggnog). Share all the new goodies you got this month, no haul is too small! Here's what I got tonight, so it was probably December somewhere, right?
So I've seen a couple of threads for specific Spring 2015 launches (MUFE 50 Shades, Nars, etc). I thought it would be cool to post any and all new collection releases/launches in the same thread. I was searching around trying to find the newest stuff and scout out my next purchases. Here's what I've found so far: Dior Spring 2015 - Kingdom of Colors (Images from A Bit Of Blusher) Guerlain Spring 2015 (Images from Rouge Deluxe) Isn't this collection so cute?!?!
(apparently I can not spell today..) This year has been very purchase heavy for me, some of the things were great, others not so much. So since the year is almost over lets do a round up on "What was your THE best beauty(skincare, clothing, etc.) find/discovery of the year?". IF you had BIG misses and no so great finds - go ahead and share them too! My great discoveries were: - Chanel Aqua Vitalumiere - after being on a hunt for a good foundation, and then while in Nordies stumbling on Chanel counter and lovely associate helping me out with a perfect shade match and coverage - I fell in love with this one!!! - Skincare wise I think Algenist was my discovery - they have such a great skin care line, I love their firming cream and oil!! - After such a craze about Bite beauty , and finally my local stores having the items on display, I caved and decided to see what they were about - now I am a proud owner of about 10 of their lip products - Then I just have to mention finding the GLAMGLOW masks at my fave TJMAxx - that was an amazing deal!!!
i have a secret love of watching vintage beauty ads, but i just came across these tutorials and i had to share. i can't get enough. i love how some advice is clearly very dated, and some is undeniably timeless ! 1930s 1940s 1950s (i'm having trouble finding a proper 50s one) 1960s
So I know a lot of people just want to vent out their shopping experiences at makeup stores and such. Sometimes you have a funny or an infuriating tale to tell, but you hesitate to post because it might be on a thread of "Oh hey, skincare." So let's start fresh and post our crazy experiences here, thanks to heartsmyface for giving me the idea! I'll start with what happened today at Ulta. I got a 20 percent discount coupon, this was my second time coming back because I was still on the fence on what to buy. Unfortunately what I really wanted wasn't there (Benfit's set of tints and balms). I decided to go for bareminerals kit which has a lot of stuff in there AND for the first time ever, eyelashes. I was at the line and I told the lady that was checking me out if I could go switch the box I had because I was a bit unsure about the color.. she told me "Oh yeah, this definitely looks like the wrong color." Keep in mind I had medium which is my skin tone and well, bareminerals is a bit confusing with their stuff, especially for a newbie to the brand. I asked her what she thought I should get and she suggested a tannish one.. Um. I'm not the fairest in the land, but I know my skin tone isn't cocoa, I don't know if she misunderstood me or what but I was definitely like "Oh... yeah, nevermind, I'll just take this one." So she charged me, I handed her a 100 dollar bill, she gave me the receipt and went to go answer the phone, I don't know if they should do that but I do find it a bit rude. She came back and asked me "Oh, was there anything else you needed?" And I said "Yeah, my money back." And believe it or not, she had forgotten. In that one minute she was away, she forgot that she in fact did not give me my 61 dollars and four cents back. LOL. She did apologize, but .. due to this, I don't think I want to go back there again. Also, Ulta staff is never friendly, one time a girl worker was being obnoxious because of my Jeffrey Campbell boots, and now when she sees me it's like she's seeing Satan.
So I am "one lipstick" away from Rouge, and I need a lipliner anyway, so I headed to Sephora rather than going to MAC. Then I figured if I was spending $20ish on a liner, I may as well get a lipstick. I must have swatched every berry lipstick in the store. And I left...with nothing... The colors were too red, too pink, too bright, too dark. Could not find my perfect color. I really don't have THAT much makeup that I can't find anything to buy? I have a small stash compared to many of you. But I have everything I need/want.
When do you start wrapping Christmas presents? This year, surprisingly, my boyfriend has been super speedy and proactive. I have wrapped nothing and everything is sitting in a pile on my dining room table. I have zero motivation and wonder who's in the same boat?
--closed-- Box of awesome high end items and unicorns, show me yours and I'll show you mine, lol. While I’m not “ancient”, I’ve been on BeautyTalk WAY longer than I ever expected and have made some very good friends….as well as been enabled into getting WAY more makeup, lol. It is getting a bit overwhelming and as much as I like pretty things, my style is more minimalist, so I don’t reaaally need 6 or 7 jars of Guerlain meteorites etc. To help revamp/reorganize my stash as well as having some fun with the awesome friends I’ve made, I’m doing the LUV TB. It contains lots of makeup that I love but never use, altho I couldn’t bear to part with any perfumes or majority of the skincare, so you ladies will have to make up for it along the way. Keep it classy, with high end and preferably new or lightly used things. No drugstores. Since it’s got tons of expensive items, I asked people I trust who are interested, so the box is closed. If it goes well, I may do another one next year when I've accumulated enough treasures. =P Expand below to see the rules, taken from the awesome roxystar4 and slightly simplified: Spoiler (Highlight to read) * Please make sure every item is in a plastic ziplock bag to prevent spills. EDIT: We should vote for the best post thread started for 2014! My vote is for notcreative's "Deals Too Good to Pass Up!" It was highly entertaining, informative, and the MOST enabling thread ever (much less 2014) in my opinion. What's yours?
With 2014 drawing to a close, what resolutions (beauty related or not) have you set for 2015? For beauty related, I want to wear sunscreen on my hands everyday, drink more water, and work my retinol up to a higher concentration (hopefully prescription strength). As far as the other aspects of my life, I think that tackling my terrible tendency towards procrastination will be enough of a feat.
Don't be shy! I want to know how many Sephora points you have banked up. I currently have 1229 points. I find it kind of embarrassing when they tell me how many points I have, I spend WAY too much money at Sephora! lol.
I thought it'd be fun to create a thread where we share our 'mask faces'! I'd love to see how lovely & silly you all look with masks on It'd be great if you mention the name of the mask you are using as well! I'll start things off! Tonight I am using the Lush Magnaminty mask
I searched around and saw storage but not many vanities. I just got my vanity in today, I'm probably going to get a chest to store everything else, because these drawers are small! They also don't open all the way. This is my set up for now. Whats your set up like?
I must admit I have always been a lover of great packaging/product display. Well yesterday at Sephora I happened about the display for the louboutin nail polish....wow! just so pretty. I can't get past the price point at this moment but hey never say never but until then I can just ooohhh and ahhhh over the beauty of this product. Just had to share the photos in case anyone else loves packaging :-) Susan
Always at like 1 AM I get inspiration to do really cool makeup and I wonder if I'm the only one?? Like does anybody else do this too? We should totally get a thread of this going. I used an old liquid eyeliner for this so the "stitches" on my neck like rubbed off and it's not half as good as some other things I've done but I still thought it was kinda cool idk??
Hey everyone, I love a good favorites video! I watch them every month looking forward to seeing what folks love. What are some of your favorites from November? Here are mine: 1. Burberry Oxblood lip mist - I love the color of this, but the actual formula is amazing! It goes on so smoothly and gives wonderful coverage in one swipe. It's a must have for me now! 2. Charlotte Tilbury Blusher in Sex on Fire - this was a gift and I love it. It has a duo circle in it, so you get a varying color when you swipe both together. It brightens up my face and is so soft! I love it! 3. KGD Spa Wate r- A lovely BT'er told me about this when my face started freaking out due to an oil cleanser I was using to remove makeup. I'm a convert! I love this stuff. It gently removes makeup and doesn't irritate my skin at all! 4. Shisheido Cotton- Decided to try it off a recommendation and it's SO MUCH BETTER than regular cotton rounds. They are so soft and don't break up in my hand! They are amazing.
I am sure we all have some products that we use the most and then we "run" to Sephora (or other stores) to repurchase and stock up on it, with a thought - "Just in case or I am about to finish up my other one, so I might as well pick up a back up now... etc" . What are your most used products, the ones you know you'll go and repurchase no matter what? Mine are: - Anastasia Brow Wiz - ohh boy - this is one of my little fave things that I use the most and I buy few of them a year, just because I use it so often. - Nars Creamy Consealer - does its job, so smooth and gives me the coverage I need! - When Travelmate face masque <3 - so amazing, portable, and travel safe/mess free!!
EDIT: of 2014.....oops... If you could summarize your entire beauty year in just five products what would they be? Mine are: 1. Kevyn Aucoin 'The Sensual Skin Fluid' - My HG foundation. It's super light, medium coverage, long wearing (I mean 10+ hours on my combo skin), and has a satin super skin like finish. The only downside is it's $97/oz. 2. Illamasqua Cream Blushers (Dixie/Zygomatic/Rude) - They are pigmented, dewy, and blend better than any other cream blush I've tried. 3. Marc Jacobs No.14 'The Conceal' Brush - I love it and refuse to use any other concealer brush. It just blends concealer out soooooo smoothly and evenly. 4. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette - It is perfection - enough said. 5. Paula's Choice Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment - After I got over the hump of redness, peeling, and inflammation, my skin is so much smoother and I get far fewer breakouts. It also made my skin more tolerant to higher potency formulas - I can use twice as much of my SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic Serum. http://www.sephora.com/the-conceal-full-cover-corr ecting-brush-14-P384921?skuId=1581776 http://www.sephora.com/ambient-lighting-palette-P3 82309?skuId=1606086
Confession: I've had a lousy week! My boyfriend has surprised me with a few random acts of kindness to cheer me up. He never gets me flowers, but yesterday he came home with this beautiful bouquet! Spoiler (Highlight to read) Today he surprised me with a little elephant figurine that looks like a baby elephant from one of my favorite pictures. Spoiler (Highlight to read) Spoiler (Highlight to read) Got me to thinking about what I can do and if others have had any random acts of kindness directed at them or from them to another? Tomorrow I'm getting together with my mom and I plan to treat her to lunch! I may try and squeeze something in for a stranger...buy them a cup of coffee or something.
Hey guys ! It's a new month so you know what that means!! New haul thread time whoop whoop!! With the sale coming up soon at Sephora I know you ladies will be hauling so show me what you're getting!! I'll add in my additions soon !
I'm sure I cant be the only one. I have SO many samples, that there are just some things I literally NEVER need to buy (except sometimes I do, because you know, there are favourites!). Some of those things are: - Mascaras - Eye creams - Face moisturizers - Black Eyeliner - Eye primer What about you?
I have to vent. I know there's been a lot of push back against heavily filled in, faded brows and contouring lately. While I personally don't wear that much makeup, I think it's so hypocritical for people who wear makeup at all to judge other fellow makeup users for how they choose to do their makeup. There's no right or wrong. It's not math or science. It's an art and a preference. I bet if someone came up to these "natural makeup" people and told them they shouldn't wear any makeup at all they'd tell that person to mind their own business and that they can do whatever they want with their face. Though I don't personally like all the makeup styles out there, I find it more repulsive when someone tells another person they shouldn't be wearing their makeup a certain way. Who the hell cares if someone wants to have ultra filled in brows or contour with a very red toned bronzer? Maybe they like that look. Not everyone is going for natural. Some people like goth makeup. Some people like glam makeup. Some people like green blush and orange lips. Who the *** cares. It's presumptuous of people to think that everyone wants makeup to be natural and therefore it's their duty to correct someone who they think "doesn't know" that they are doing it "wrong."
