For those of us that love lipsticks and have several of them, do you rotate or reach for the same few? I wear some more than others. And some have been neglected a lot (although they are very pretty). I thought of holding myself to wearing a new lipstick everyday for 30 days. Lets see how long this will last. trying new products can be...overwhelming. do you love a product because it works ? can you tell right away if it's performing the way you want it to ? sometimes i'm so happy to finally try something and let my enthusiasm blind my actual impression of it (at least at first ) it takes time to come to proper conclusions ! particularly when it comes to skincare, but makeup too. so here's a thread where we can discuss our experiences while trying a product for a first time. it can also be a place that people can reference if they're considering a new product. right now i'm trying a sample of the REN v-cense night cream. i've only used it for 2 nights so far, but i LOVE IT. i love it so much i'm tempted to go ahead and grab it up, but i need to make sure it doesn't break me out over time (it contains shea butter which *can* be a breakout trigger for me, but not necessarily). it smells of frankincense which i adore, but i know for some people would be a turn off. i'm also checking out the VICHY aqualia thermal serum. i really love the CAUDALIE vinosource s.o.s. thirst quenching serum, and prefer the texture of it to the VICHY, but think the caudalie may break me out slightly (i also was probably overusing it...i was very enthusiastic). so i'm just trying to figure out which i prefer. how about you ?
Hey guys. Just curious to see how other makeup lovers out there store/display their treasures. I got so sick and tired of having all my products in makeup bags and inside a fabric storage bin, that today i went out on a mission and found and purchases acrylic drawers. ( I cleared the shelves out at HomeSense LOL). Sadly I've asked them to try to get more for me. Thinking some of us could post and share how we store our makeup to inspire or give each other some creative ideas to get organized. Spoiler (Highlight to read) Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Hi, All! I wanted to wish my fellow BTers a very happy turkey day!!! Also, I wanted to say that I'm thankful for my family, friends, and the best thing I found this year: Nars Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base! No more oily lids for me. Woo hoo! What are you thankful for?
One of Birchbox's LE seasonal boxes, A Vanity Affair. I have been gazing at it since it came out and have yet to pull the trigger. It's $100 (meep!), but if I hurry my slow butt up, I can still get 20% off. Thoughts? It includes: BY TERRY Baume de Rose – Travel Size Chantecaille Luminous Gloss – Lychee or Passionfruit JINsoon Nail Lacquer – Coquette JINsoon Nail Lacquer – Nostalgia Maison Caulières Perfumed Bath Oil – Travel Size MAKE Calypso Palette Rosanna Alhambra Medium Vessel Serge Normant Dream Big Instant Volumizing Spray – Travel Size SHU UEMURA Art of Hair Essence Absolue Oil-in-Cream – Travel Size Stephanie Johnson Tinseltown Gold Jewelry Tray Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment – Travel Size Tata Harper Volumizing Lip & Cheek Tint TOCCA Eau de Parfum, Margaux – Travel Size
Are there any types of makeup you just don't like? I don't mean a particular brand, but just an entire type. For example, I stopped buying lipstick when I realized that I almost never choose to wear it. I love stains and balms and glosses, but lip color in stick form is just not my thing. Another thing I don't wear too often is powder blush. I wear blush nearly every day, but it's usually a cheek stain, because I think cheek stains both look and feel better on my dry skin. So do you all have any quirky dislikes like I do?
Lately I have been going over my purchases and I noticed a tiny trend - I am obsessed with some things more than others. So what are your 5 things/products that you are obsessed with lately (it could be anything - from food to clothing to makeup, etc)? Mine are: - Skin care (Algenist, face masks, and serums) - Purses (bought 4 purses in one year, and continuing to look .. smh) - Starbucks (holiday drinks) - NARS creamy concealer - Bite Beauty
with all the limited edition items that are released and the shark frenzies that follow, I'm interested in seeing what items my fellow BTers have snagged over the years that are now those coveted hard to find unicorns. Those beautiful things we wanted but missed out on. Basically, I want to see pictures of those Beauties I cannot have, just like I wznna see pictures of those hunky men in harlequin romance novels I can never have. Running to grab a box of tissues and some popcorn! Oh and as a sneak preview, here's my first self-deemed unicorn. This picture is from the Omotesando cosmetic boutique. The blusher in the middle is the real unicorn. It was only available at this one store location to celebrate its opening. I went in to snag one for someone else and they were sold out. See the sold out sticker? They sold out in a week and STILL had the darn set on display one month later!!! Why????
So, one of the things I like best about BT is our capacity for kindness and positivity. I know that whenever I have a question someone is going to take time out of their busy day to answer it and that is great. I thought maybe it would be nice to start a thread where people post appreciations for other. Like if someone recommended a product that became an HG product for you or if a thread made you smile you could post here to appreciate them. I think it would be a great way to celebrate our community. One note: I know that sometimes things like this feel like popularity contests, and if people are anxious about that happening here I will definitely take the thread down because that is not my intention at all. If this becomes a popularity drama festival it will not stay up. But back to positive! I vow to post once a day about something someone did that I appreciate and I challenge everyone to participate at least once. Appreciating people feels good! I'm gonna post my first appreciations as a comment rather than in this post. Yay appreciating people!
I was at a friends last night and we ended up watching episode after episode of hoarders which was shocking and frightening at the same time. Today I read a comment asking to see my makeup collection so I pulled out my palettes out of their respective drawers for a photo and realized I have more than I thought. Also I realized how anxious I was about my hubby coming up and seeing how many I own. needless to say, they went back very quickly! I'm wondering if this is too many or if I'm just sitting pretty. I do use them all save for the nars ones. how many palettes do you own? do you use them all?
I am sure we all have some products that we use the most and then we "run" to Sephora (or other stores) to repurchase and stock up on it, with a thought - "Just in case or I am about to finish up my other one, so I might as well pick up a back up now... etc" . What are your most used products, the ones you know you'll go and repurchase no matter what? Mine are: - Anastasia Brow Wiz - ohh boy - this is one of my little fave things that I use the most and I buy few of them a year, just because I use it so often. - Nars Creamy Consealer - does its job, so smooth and gives me the coverage I need! - When Travelmate face masque <3 - so amazing, portable, and travel safe/mess free!!
So a lot of people ask about subscription boxes and we tell them which ones we like and about the blogs that have lists of all the subscription boxes. i intend for this thread to be both a bit of a 'release' (such as "i want everyone to know i love *this* even though my hauls, looks, etc don't reflect it !") but i also intend it to be a kind of ongoing list we can reference for the (or any) sale, for general shopping, and as inspiration of new things to try. for example: i love REN. but my skincare collection does not reflect my love for them. my shopping cart is full of parts of their v-cense line and ren rosa centifolia balm, but i never pull the trigger (i've had some of these things but are sometimes pricey for me to replace once i run out, or i try new things, etc). same with NUDE and ALGENIST. some KATE SOMERVILLE too (goats milk cream, anyone?) ! i love NARS pure matte lipsticks but instead of restocking i went for the audacious lipsticks. which we all know i love, but they're just *different*. edited to add: BECCA products like the shimmering skin perfector (liquid form) in pearl, and their eye tints intrigue me for those no makeup makeup looks. NARS light reflecting loose setting powder. what about you ?
--closed-- Box of awesome high end items and unicorns, show me yours and I'll show you mine, lol. While I’m not “ancient”, I’ve been on BeautyTalk WAY longer than I ever expected and have made some very good friends….as well as been enabled into getting WAY more makeup, lol. It is getting a bit overwhelming and as much as I like pretty things, my style is more minimalist, so I don’t reaaally need 6 or 7 jars of Guerlain meteorites etc. To help revamp/reorganize my stash as well as having some fun with the awesome friends I’ve made, I’m doing the LUV TB. It contains lots of makeup that I love but never use, altho I couldn’t bear to part with any perfumes or majority of the skincare, so you ladies will have to make up for it along the way. Keep it classy, with high end and preferably new or lightly used things. No drugstores. Since it’s got tons of expensive items, I asked people I trust who are interested, so the box is closed. If it goes well, I may do another one next year when I've accumulated enough treasures. =P Expand below to see the rules, taken from the awesome roxystar4 and slightly simplified: Spoiler (Highlight to read) * Please make sure every item is in a plastic ziplock bag to prevent spills. In a market flooded with options, what has lasted the test of time? Bonus points if it's still your favorite/go-to/HG product. For me, I think it's Aveda Hand Relief. Either that or their Lip Saver. Still my favorite colorless, hydrating, nourishing balm. Both are going strong in the 15 year range.
I saw a lot of people posting in the "Found in the wild New" post about Lime Crime now being sold at Sephora. It seems like there are a lot of strong opinions because of the controversy surrounding this brand so I thought it would be fun if it had its own topic. So what are your thoughts on Lime Crime now being sold at Sephora? edit: I want to apologize for creating another thread on this. I didn't realize it had already been talked about! I should of looked it up first, so again, I'm sorry.
I searched around and saw storage but not many vanities. I just got my vanity in today, I'm probably going to get a chest to store everything else, because these drawers are small! They also don't open all the way. This is my set up for now. Whats your set up like?
Ok, let me start off by saying PLEASE don't tell me not to, etc. For the past 6 months (yes 6), I have been researching peach fuzz, vellus hair to terminal hair, effective treatments, etc. I have read 99% of the informed ( I say informed because ones against it merely stated they never actually tried it, but it would do this and that to your hair and blah blah) say they shave with a tinkle razor in downward short strokes. Just out of curiosity, what women here shave the peach fuzz on cheeks and what was your personal experience? How long do you go between each shaving? Also, I read how amazing this is for exfoliating. I'm curious about that too.
Okay. I really didn't want to try to make Rouge level again for 2015 . It was nice to see the Rouge promos (which I think have been very nice lately) and attend the events (not as fancy as other people's experiences because I haven't seen brand reps or the fancy treats at my stores), but the Rouge level experience still seems to be rather lacking. However, I do love the products Sephora sells and I love giving them away for gifts. So now I'm $13 away from making Rouge again. (Sigh) I'm still buying gifts and I know they'll still have a bunch of items and sales come before Christmas, sooooo . . . I guess I'll be Rouge again for 2015. LOL What about you?
Julep now allows you to skip multiple months again... you don't have to be "grandfathered" in any longer to utilize this. And you can skip more than one every 6 months, like it was for the past year. So... for those who were considering Julep subs but didn't want to commit to getting a box EVERY month... good news!
So, I was going through all my new purchases getting ready for the VIB sale tomorrow, and I realized I have the most samples- deluxe and foil- that I have ever had. Everywhere seems to be giving away GWP, lots of deluxe samples, and of course the foils. I counted with my daughter, and I have 223 samples, not including what I currently have open in rotation. How many samples do you have? Care to post a pic? Tonight my daughter and I plan to try to spread them all out and categorize. If we have the time, I'll post mine!
I thought it'd be fun to create a thread where we share our 'mask faces'! I'd love to see how lovely & silly you all look with masks on It'd be great if you mention the name of the mask you are using as well! I'll start things off! Tonight I am using the Lush Magnaminty mask
As the temperature drops, my skin is getting drier and I really need to focus on exfoliating and moisturizing. I'm curious about the routines everyone has for taking care of the skin they're in. Bonus points for product recs/holy grails! 1. What body lotion/cream do you use? Do you change it up from summer to winter? 2. What body scrub do you use? How often do you use it? 3. Do you use a self-tanner in the colder months? 4. Do you prefer bar soap or body wash? 5. Are you ever lazy like me and not use lotion and totally regret it? 6. Any weird tips/tricks/homemade remedies you have for body care?
Beauties, I know we're a community of self acceptance and loving yourself just the way you are, but I'm curious, is there anything about your appearance you wish could be different? To start us off, I'll tell you mine. Though I am completely comfortable/happy with myself, when I was younger my closest girlfriend was ginger, and I lusted after having pale skin, freckles and auburn hair just like her. I did rock various red hair colors for many years, but never found one that suited me and have given up on that for now. These days, I mostly just wish I could be taller. I'm pushing 5'4 and my husband is 6'4 and I would love to be a bit closer to his size. On my off time I wear giant heels to compensate. And if we're wishing for things, I'd love to have b**bs the size I had when I was 40lbs heavier, lol. What about you?
