Hi all, I have been so frustrated lately at my lack of eyelining skills. I can work with a pencil just fine, but I turn to the mystical (to me) world of gels and liquids to achieve the coveted, timeless "cat-eye" look that so many beauty bloggers claim to use in their everyday routine. Every. single. tutorial I've watched makes application look SO easy! It only flusters me more...does anyone else have this problem? I have a lot to learn, but I like to think I know my way around a makeup bag...it is almost embarrassing to me to be unable to do a winged eye. I've tried gel and liquid, angled and long skinny brushes...nothing. If any of you could guide me, I'd be infinitely grateful!! Thank you!
What makeup is everyone wearing today? Today I am wearing: 1. Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation in Champagne 2. Benefit Coralista blush 3. TheBalm Mary-Loumanizer 4. Dior Creme de Rose Lipbalm 5. Dior Addict Lipstick in 454 6. Benefit Creaseless Cream shadow in RSVP and under all this I am wearing Neutrogena Pure and Free Liquid Sunblock SPF 50 So c'mon now...confess!
Yayyy! I just got it! I set my alarm for 2AM CST, which is the equivalent of 12AM PST. It looks like it was probably up for quite some time, but I can't be sure. Anyway, I was able to order it. YAY! *Edit: It appears that it went live at 12PM CST, according to Sephora's facebook page.*
Admittedly, nudes are my comfort zone, and I rarely stray from it. Hence, my being able to justify my embarrassing number of pinky nude lipsticks -Clinique Butter Shine in Delovely: I love the Butter Shine formula, since it gives a glossy shine despite being in a lipstick form. It's also incredibly moisturizing, yet light-weight at the same time. This is probably as brown of a nude I'd go, and I think the shimmer makes it wearable. -Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy 104 (Skin): I like to call these Rouge Ecstasy lipsticks Louboutin Lippies. I don't know what GA did with this line of lipsticks, but they actually wear better as the day progresses. It's a lipstick, lipbalm, lipcare all in one. Oh, and it's also a pinky nude -MAC Marquise D': If and when MAC decides to re-promote this lipstick shade, I'll be buying several back-ups! Something about the undertone and the shimmer factor just makes this lipstick the perfect nude for me. LOVE! -Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme in Whisper: My newest addition and I've been wearing it every single chance I get. It just gives a hint of color on the lips (like the name implies), but it pairs wonderfully with smoky eyes. The formula also makes it a joy to reapply throughout the day. -Hourglass Femme Nude Stylo in #6: I tend to gravitate towards darker pinky nudes and/or mauvey nudes, and #6 best suited my skintone without making me look like I had slapped concealer on my lips. Despite its satin finish, it's not drying by any means, and the lasting power is one of the best I've come across. What are your favorites? Suggestions, por favor
- bareminerals original foundation - bareminerals Ready mineral veil - NYC sunny bronzer - Covergirl 3 in 1 outlast foundation - Lorac Behind the Scenes eye primer - Tarte LipSurgence lip tint - grateful - MUFE full cover concealer please share yours! i would LOVE to hear and try your favorites!
I wish so badly I'd known these things would make my life easier! If this helps even just 1 person, that's what I want. (If my post helps you in any way, please let me know!) 1. Change your mascara with the change of seasons. We all know we should change it out every 3 months, but who can remember when that was?! So, I change mine next month as Summer officially arrives. Then, another new tube in September when Fall arrives. That way, there's no doubt just how old that tube really is! 2. Quit picking. (This is where I'm being brutally transparent.) For years, it has hurt my head to see a clogged pore or a slight white center to an upcoming blemish. My solution was to squeeze, poke, prod...whatever I could to get it gone. What I've found is that LEAVING IT ALONE is actually the fastest cure for blemishes and for the overall prevention of them. I spent so much time in the mornings concealing, blending, concealing, blending, applying powder. My battle with cystic acne, I believe, is probably a lot of my fault because I was causing absolute chaos under my skin with all that nonsense. I've not touched my skin for almost 2 months now. How many blemishes do I have? Zero. How much redness do I have? Very little. When is the last time I used concealer? 1 month ago. Case made. 3. Don't reinvent the wheel. Instead of sticking with the formula of foundation that truly did work for me, I've sampled about all of them. YouTuber or blog poster raves about a foundation...I'm on it. I just tossed a BB cream and a CC cream sampler because I felt so compelled to see if this was the stuff that was going to work magic for me, and...wait for it...it didn't. Back to my foundation (Lancome's Dual Finish) formula and shade that get it right every time! I've learned that liquid formulas just don't work well for me, so why waste time, energy, and good skin (experienced a few hiccups of blemishes or just "yuck" skin because of sampler situations) to find that miracle product?! 4. Keep it simple. Instead of having tons of color products rolling around and coming loose from their pans, I have 1 single eye palette (Benefit's World Famous Neutrals in "Everyday") and 3 cheek colors (Tarte's Dollface, Exposed and then Benefit's Dandelion). All I do now is make either my eyes or lips the focal point of my look and use one of those cheek colors to brighten my face. And guess what? It's simple. I'm actually using up product before it expires or gets goopy or whatever. 5. Stick to a memorable routine. I exfoliate twice weekly (Murad's Pomegranate Mask), and I do it every Sunday and Wednesday. While it sets, I wash my BeautyBlender (I have 2, so this gives me a clean one twice a week). Once a month, I also wash my face & eye brushes while also doing my BeautyBlender. If I didn't stick to just those two days for treatments, I'd forget when, then it'd be a week, then a month before I'd realized how time had slipped by without keeping a routine. It truly does make a difference in my skin! Hope I helped!
Wow I'm amazed at the sale on Becca at Modinique. Everything is 10!!!! Including all brushes. I was thrilled to get a palette with 4 products for 10 and a bronzer/cream blush brush for 10. I'm trying to minimize spending but was very tempted to use the spend 50 get 20 off code but for Canada each product add shipping and duties so the number kept jumping up. Super excited to get this stuff and to use the brush with my becca cheek tints too. Man if I didn't have brushes I would go to town on this sale. Becca brushes are supposed to be excellent!!
I have been having horrible breakouts recently. I consider it occasional, because i never had it before. I am 25 now. Last week a got a sample of the CAUDALIE VINEXPERT NIGHT INFUSION. i been using it at night and every morning i wake up, i noticed that both the pimples and old scars are fading away. I can t be happier right now. Last night I went to sephora and buy a full size It is an anti-aging but there something in that cream that treat breakouts, and it is amazing
FAMILY, EDUCATION AND A LOVING HEART FAMILY is the best think that can ever happen to anyone. EDUCATION is your passport for life, and better, it does not expire and nobody can take it from you. LOVING HEART because everybody deserve to be loved Beauty is all about that
Ok ladies. I went to purchase Naked 3 and it now says currently out of stock! Not sure how long this will last. I subscribed to get an email update for when it is back in stock. Hopefully this is a very temporary thing. I'll try to keep you posted. Until then, i will sit here crying. haha
I used to have a flawless skin. One day i decided to go get a face wax because i have so much facial hair. I got burn and since then I could not get my skin flawless back. I have tried so many products but none of them seems to work. Some of them even make me breakout with make my skin more uneven. Now i think I am addicted to skin care products and I am desperate.
Just for fun, what is the best piece of beauty advice you have ever gotten? What is a beauty related lesson that you had to learn the hard way? For me, the best advice I got was probably to drink lots and lots of water throughout the day. It cleared up the oil on my skin so much. Something that I had to learn the hard way was that you should never over pluck you're eyebrows. Before I used to get my eyebrows done, I had the thickest brows, so when I did get them done, I wanted something really thin. I had crazy thin eyebrows for so long, and then I realized it did not look good at all . Thankfully, I'm still young so they came back fairly quickly!
I feel awful about this. I recently got into depotting my eyeshadows, and I ordered a gorgeous palette for my depotted stuff to go in. I love color coding and convenience (who here doesn't? ) and I figured depotting was a wonderful idea. Wonderful, maybe, but easy? Haaaaale no! Haha. I depotted a Wet n' Wild palette (Comfort Zone) to start and, soon after, a Tarte palette that came in their QVC holiday special, "Bow & Go". Here is a photo (my palette hasn't come in the mail, so I'm keeping them on a clipboard ) As you can see, I had some issues. 10 of my 16 Tartes came out beautifully, which I was happy enough with...but then again, the other 6 are kinda...erm...not aesthetically pleasing. One, "ideal ivory", broke apart so much I simply threw it away. Have any of you experienced similar issues? Is it worth depotting and possibly losing a little bit--okay, a "lotta" bit--of product for convenience's sake? I'm feeling guilty right now and I'd love some advice/encouragement.
I know there's a thread on the Black Friday deals - but what are you girls hoping that you can get in time? What caught your eye? I was so thrilled to see the Crystaltastic nails!!! I've loved them ever since they first came out, but didn't end up buying them. I'm DEFINITELY getting those. (Dear Sephora, please let the Rouge girls have access to the sale first, please and thank you.) I know my mom will want me to get the "Healthy" deodorant, because she is always telling me how awful it is to use aluminum zinc. The Buxom lipsticks are must-haves, obviously, and I love all the Buxom mascaras, so that's a no brainer. Also - I've been dying to try the Bosica pore strips so this seems like a great opportunity. Sephora - I *LOVE* the deals this year! Whoever picked them out deserves a raise!
I thought I would create a series of discussion where we could all share our make-up stashes. This is just meant to be fun. I know some people would love that Ok ladies time to share your skin care stash! This includes everything that you would use on your face. There will be another post for body care. This is the 6th in a series of post I will do. Still to come: body care, hair care and brushes. Might do one with samples as well. Ok so I need some cheering up today! ****************************** I thought I would create a series of discussion where we could all share our make-up stashes. This is just meant to be fun. How it works: Just take a picture of the stash mentioned in this post and upload to the discussion board. Feel free to tell us what you like best and included swatches. I know some people would love that Ok ladies time to share your make-up stash for your eyes. This includes eye shadows, cream shadows, eye primers, pencils, mascaras, false lashes and eyebrow products. This is the 2nd in a series of post I will do. Still to come: lips, brushes, nails, perfume, skin care, body care, and hair care. I love mascaras!!! My favs are Diorshow Blackout, Too Faced Better Than Sex and Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum. I always loved MAC eye shadows for long wearing, pigmented, non-staining, bright and bold colors. Eventually I discovered UD and I also love their shadows. Now I think I have enough and trying not to buy any. lol
Okay, so I went for the full-sized bottle of No. 28 about a month and a half ago, and I really love it. No breakouts, no ultra-oiliness, nothing. Thing is, I'm starting to wonder why so many people prefer Veil over No. 28. I know the oil blend scares many off, but I sampled both, and I keep coming back to No. 28, despite the $13 discrepancy in price. What do you all think?
A friend inspired me..using nicer unwrinkled brown paper for a recent present..but my husband and I taking the brown paper Sephora packs each box with and flattening it in half and using it for wrapping paper. The paper is a little crinkly but not too bad. We bought some cute rubber stamps and green and red ink pads from Michaels and are going to create homemade wrapping paper for our Christmas presents. I think we're going to buy that thin newpapery cord to tie them. The beauty is then you also have wrapping paper that can be recycled (most cannot). Just thought I'd share as I have placed mucho orders lately and even though I recycle everything I thought this was a pretty easy and cute project for holidays. I haven't produced any paper yet but will try to post a pic of a wrapped present. We didn't love the holiday stamps that were there so went with a chickadee on a branch and rabbit that had similar artistic styles

I know some people would love that Ok ladies time to share your make-up stash for your LIPS - I know some of you have been waiting for this! This series includes lipsticks, lip glosses, lip pencils, lip primers, lip plumpers, lip stains and lip balms. This is the 3rd in a series of post I will do. Still to come: nails, perfume, skin care, body care, hair care and brushes. For the new comers also check out the face and eye series already posted. ************************************************** * Well I just added some lip stuff to my collection that isn’t in the picture. I am now a total BITE BEAUTY addict! I love their products and can’t wait to see what they will come up with next I also have a lot of lip balms but they aren't in this pic. My favorite by far is Intelligent Nutrients - Lip Delivery Nutrition. Note to readers: Last year MAC came out with a grey lipstick for Black Friday. Anyone has this? Any news if they will do it again this year? Yes I want one! And yes I like unusual stuff. I have the lip tar called sebastian... It's not in this pic. Go look it up. lol
So, as I was staring at my rather large rolling train case that is already pretty much full I got to dreaming about a makeup space. And since I was bored I started searching the net. I found this picture and literally I think my heart stopped. GORG! I wanted to hear or see what your dream makeup space/room/counter would look like. I am adding this to my list of "Things to make happen when I win the lottery". Guess I better start buying tickets
All I need to hear is "sale" or "savings" and I cave. I now have a lifetime supply of shadows and liners, half a lifetime of blushes and foundations. I snagged the NARS blush on sale. The UD create your own Melt palette. Stila in the Know at 25% off. They almost always have me at 20%. I feel weak...but of course my makeup is stunning, so at least I look good while being weak. Anyone else feel like they have an abundance of makeup yet can get drawn in by super deals? Can we start a group?
Guys - I made a horrible, terrible awful beauty mistake. I was trimming my eyebrows with scissors (ie. brushing the hairs up and then trimming the longer hairs) and my hand slipped an OHMYGOSH. I accidentally trimmed off the front half of my eyebrow! I've always been known for my dark, Liz Taylor-esque brows and I feel like just terrible that I messed them up so horribly. It's super noticeable. It looks like I tried to shave off my brow and then gave up in the middle. I was sick to my stomach and wanted to cry! Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Any tips to make my eyebrow grow back in faster? Any tips/tricks/ideas for dealing with it in the meantime?
Ahh I feel so addicted to makeup. Yet, I love looking natural and not cakey. I usually just apply tinted moisturizer or foundation with a powder then apply bronz and blush. I then fix up my brows add a Little wing to the end of my eye and a light basic brown smokey eye With mascara.+highlight. yet I can't stop buying makeup😱 I have blushes and eye shadows that will last me a years worth. I just ordered the tarte Gorgeous Getaways Portable Palette Set I was sold on that cute portable bow palette. I know >.< I gave in. Weak sauce. And not to mention I'm working on my Mac duo blush and eyeshadow pallet I purchased on NOV 1 for my birthday. Filling my pallet up with shades I love( think ink I have a problem.. I know when I'm feeling down I go to view makeup but I know make up can not fix whats inside. Sometimes I feel like I use it to occupy my self with pretty stuff. To help take my mind of stressful stuff. And the fact that I still have sad days thinking abou my mother who passed away back in 2012 from lymphoma
My perfume preferences change on a nearly daily basis, but these are the ones I keep coming back to. -Bottega Veneta Eau L'egere: My newest addition to the collection, and I can see this being my signature scent of 2014! It's leathery, it's powdery -- truly a walking contradiction of a scent in of itself. For an EDT, it lasts quite a while throughout the day. The EDP, on the other hand, is an entirely different beast and a tad too strong for my liking. -Jessica Simpson I Fancy You: I'll admit to liking this perfume. It's feminine and inviting in a subtle way. It's very inoffensive making it a great choice for those who are in a work setting where scents is one thing that must be taken into consideration. -Especially Escada Delicate Notes: Especially Escada's softer version, it screams carefree and, quite possibly, springtime when the flowers are blooming. I still wear it all year round, as I'm a fan of floral fragrances. It's my go-to on days when I'm not sure which to reach for. -I Love New York for Mothers: Tangerine is a common note present in many of the scents I fancy, and this is no exception. However, this has strong sillage, not to mention a complexity that many perfumes lack. It's fresh. It's spicy. It's also the one I get the most compliments, so of course, it has to make the list -Chloe: The rate I went through this bottle is quite scary, but it goes to show how well-loved it is. It was my signature scent this year, and I'm holding on to the last few sprays till the end of the year. It's a beautiful and classic fragrance, and the addition of lychee made it that much better. What are your top picks?
