What makeup is everyone wearing today? Today I am wearing: 1. Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation in Champagne 2. Benefit Coralista blush 3. TheBalm Mary-Loumanizer 4. Dior Creme de Rose Lipbalm 5. Dior Addict Lipstick in 454 6. Benefit Creaseless Cream shadow in RSVP and under all this I am wearing Neutrogena Pure and Free Liquid Sunblock SPF 50 So c'mon now...confess!
I am sure we all have some products that we use the most and then we "run" to Sephora (or other stores) to repurchase and stock up on it, with a thought - "Just in case or I am about to finish up my other one, so I might as well pick up a back up now... etc" . What are your most used products, the ones you know you'll go and repurchase no matter what? Mine are: - Anastasia Brow Wiz - ohh boy - this is one of my little fave things that I use the most and I buy few of them a year, just because I use it so often. - Nars Creamy Consealer - does its job, so smooth and gives me the coverage I need! - When Travelmate face masque <3 - so amazing, portable, and travel safe/mess free!!

I was just looking through the "What Are You Wearing" thread and looking through the list of products I suddenly realized I very rarely use concealer under my eyes anymore. It used to be one those "will not leave the without it" items. It got me thinking back to a moment many, many, MANY years ago at a Clinique counter... I can't remember what I was shopping for (probably super double face powder because that was my HG back then. I think I was around 20 when this story happened - I'm 39 now for reference.) So anyway, the sales lady was trying to upsell me on a bunch more products of course (which, I was 20 and in college - good luck getting blood from that stone, lady) and this is what she said to me word-for-word: "Honey, you're gorgeous but those dark circles are distracting me from the rest of your face." Whhaaaaattt??? I honestly can't remember how I reacted or if I bought the product I went in for originally. I know that I did NOT buy any concealer though! Have a couple more to post but BT is being super iPad unfriendly lately! I don't want to open up any wounds with this post. Just hopefully dumb stuff SAs have said to you that you can look back on and laugh about now!
(Must be beauty related!) 1. I am helpless to resist ____________________________. 2. I can't stop buying________________________________. 3. I have absolutely no interest in _____________________. 4. ________________________(s)_doesn't/don't work for me. 5. I am always interested in hearing about a new _________________________. Mine: 1. A really good promo code, like ROUGEFRESH or PACKUP. 2. Sheer lip colors. 3. Bronzer. 4. Primer. 5. Tinted lip balm.
Haven't seen these done in a while! Questions: 1. What is your favourite song right now? 2. What is your current go-to summer drink? 3. Do you have any goals for this summer? 4. What's one thing you wish you could pull off, but can't for whatever reason? 5. What is your guilty pleasure? My answers: 1. Love Don't Die by The Fray. It also helps that I'm seeing them next month, so that's all I've been listening to. haha. 2. I love fruity sangria, preferably red or champagne versions! 3. I'd like to get back into the habit of eating from local farmers markets and also finish the raised garden in my backyard for next year's crops. 4. I wish I could pull off the shooties (shoe booties). Because I'm so pale and short, it cuts off my leg and I look stumpy. 5. My guilty pleasure(s) are video games, makeup (duh), and chips. Preferably ketchup or all dressed!
I searched around and saw storage but not many vanities. I just got my vanity in today, I'm probably going to get a chest to store everything else, because these drawers are small! They also don't open all the way. This is my set up for now. Whats your set up like?
Even though we are all gorgeous, we also have flaws. That's what makes us unique! There are some flaws that I have, such as an eternally ruddy complexion, that I really hate. But sometimes I think it's good to realize how beautiful our flaws are. That being said, what "flaw" do you love about yourself, beauty and non-beauty? My favorite beauty "flaw" is that on my right eye, I have one eyelash that droops down. No matter what I do to it, it won't straighten up or come out. But I've come to love it, because I think it gives my look a touch of character. My favorite non-beauty "flaw" about myself is that I am awkward. I used to embarrass myself to the point that I avoided talking to anyone, but a few months ago my best friend told me that I had to go see this movie called "Frozen," (lol) because, as she put it, "You ARE the one girl in it." After I saw the movie and fell in love with Anna, I realized that awkward can be cute. I'd love to hear what you think!
So today, I went in for a makeup application just for fun in the Appleton, Wi Sephora. The woman who I had (I feel so angry that I didn't catch her name) was wonderful. She listened to what I wanted as well as helped me out a bit with some skincare. It made the experience very enjoyable. What made her happy was the fact that I was more than willing to let her do what they wanted. It gave her time to express herself with a clean canvas and be creative in her mind. I figure that it is one of the keys to a successful makeup application, to one which isn't successful. This look isn't something that I normally would have done however, I might end up doing it more often. Anyways, pictures are below.
Most people hord their makeup, always adding in new items but never replacing expired ones. Makeup brushes should be cleaned once a week with cleanser or a mild antibacterial dish detergent. Do NOT share your makeup with anyone-no one likes other peoples germs on their expensive stuff. You can get pink eye from shared mascara and herpes from shared lipstick. You can also get acne from using dirty brushes and other makeup application supplies. When to replace: 1. Mascara-3 months if used daily, 6 months if not 2. Concealer-18 months 3. Liquid Foundation-1 year 4. Loose powder foundation-no expiration date 5. cream eyeshadow-1 year 6. powder eyeshadow-2 years 7. lip pencil-3 years 8. lipstick-2 years 9. lipgloss-1 year
I normally shop at Sephora alone for my retail therapy but was in a mall with my friends and we stopped in. My friend couldn't believe the prices, she kept saying how she can get a product like this or that at the drugstore. I tried not to engage in the conversation because it was making me feel a little guilty. I understand she has kids and I don't so I have the extra money to buy what I want but should I feel guilty about it? I choose my items carefully and some with some online research, I don't just but things because they are there. I feel like I can't shop with my friends there in the future because I wouldn't know what to say when they make those comments. Anyone else run into the same thing? What to do about it if it happens?
This thought popped into my head this morning and I asked myself, "why do i buy high end products?" I buy a few high end products because there's more options, finishes, and shades to choose from. Do you shop high end because of the different shades and options? or is it because you like brand name products?
It is finally the first day of Summer. Yay! Summer is by far my favorite season. I love warm weather, sunshine and of course all of the makeup and fun beauty products that I get to pull out of my collection to use. I thought in honor of the first day of summer, we should discuss everyone's favorite beauty essentials for the warmer months! I'll go first
1. What is your favorite nail polish for the summer? Or your favorite color family to wear during warmer months?
2. What is your must have bronzer for the summer?
3. What is your must have facial highlighter?
4. Are there any special eyeshadows or eyeliners you only wear during the warmer months?
5. What is your must have lip product during this time of year?
6. Any favorite self tanner?
7. What is your most-loved sunscreen?
1. For nail polish, I have been pretty obsessed with the Formula X nail polish in Pyrotechnic! It is the perfect bright red for this time of year and this stuff seriously never chips. I also really love corals! Next polish on my list is the Liberty Top Coat! I'll get this one in time for the upcoming fourth of July holiday!

2. I love Benefit's Hoola year round, but in the summer I pull out T arte's Park Avenue Princess! It is a little bit warmer than Hoola and has a bit of shimmer so it's perfect at giving my skin a little more of a sun-kissed glow!
3. I love Laura Mercier's Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight 01! It is very finely milled and blends into the skin beautifully!
4. I always pull out my Urban Decay Eyeshadows in Half Baked and Baked in the warmer months. I also love wearing turquoise and teal eyeliners during this time of the year! My favorites are Urban Decay's 24/7 Eyeliner in Deep End and Sephora Collection's Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner in 17 Turquoise.

5. I am obsessed with Dior's Addict Gloss in 433 Dèlice! It is a beautiful peachy shade that has very fine shimmer! I also like that this gloss is not sticky at all.

6. For the face, I love the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads. These never make me break out and give a very natural looking tan to my face! For the body, I am very loyal to the Sephora Collection's Tinted Self-Tanning Body Mist! It smells like the beach and is also makes my skin very soft!

7. For sunscreen, I have really been loving Supergoop! Antioxidant-Infused Sunscreen Mist With Vitamin C Broad Spectrum SPF 50. I made the switch to spray sunscreens this year and I never get burned anymore! It is so quick to reapply my sunscreen when I'm outside, I actually look forward the cooling mist.

I can't wait to read everyone's answers!
I decided to post it here since I'm sure you as a reader will understand. Has anything disastrous ever happened to your beauty products be it makeup or skincare or hair prodcuts? And to be more specific, it wasn't caused by you but by another? Here's my story, my aunt brought my cousin's kid who has become very wild, her mother is someone you really don't want to hang around with and is passing on her bad behavior to her little girl. The little girl wasted my full Tarte maracuja oil bottle.. and I mean completely wasted. I had been using it for a while and I loved that it didn't seem like I had used any at all. My mother didn't stop her and right now told me "she was putting it on her nails, I didn't think to say anything to her." Oil. I am beyond words, I am so upset, this was a gift to me.. I feel like lecturing the little girl about touching things that are not hers, but I am not her mother. I am distraught.. I feel like I am justified in being mad. And on top of that, I found out she shoplifted items from the stores that my mom and aunt took her too. Some gum and some earrings... That's beside the point. I may sound superficial at this moment but my beauty routine is ruined. Agh
Hello BT friends! May is just around the corner and I think it would be a good time to clear a bit of our stash this spring! Here are the rules..... 1. items must belong to makeup or skincare category ( haircare and bodycare items are too easily used up) 2. Use up TEN full sized makeup/skincare items 3. put empties in zip loc bag ( you can put start date and end date on baggy if you wish so that you can see how long it takes you to use up those 10 products) 4. NO SHOPPING unless you *completely* run out of something ( look around and see if you have foil packets or deluxe samples around first) 5. post your bag of 10 used up products here! Talk about the items if you wish and whether or not you would repurchase. And.....go!
Who is your make up inspiration? Celebrity or non celebrity!? I want to know: Who?! You can have more than one! Why she inspires you? Post your favorite makeup look of your lady! Mine are Megan Fox and Audrey Hepburn Megan Fox always looks so flawless and love the smokey eye looks she rocks, I am a huge fan of the smokey eye (eyes are always the focal point in her look) with a nude lip. Audrey Hepburn is so iconic and even in black and white her makeup looks sophisticated and so elegant. She was perfection!
I had an end-of-the-day meeting with someone from a different department today. She's a bigwig, so she was wearing nice clothes, good shoes, and some really nice makeup. She had done a very natural eye, with a bold aqua eyeliner. I really liked the effect; I thought it brought out the green in her eyes, and was interesting without being unprofessional. The problem was . . . it was only over one eye. After a nine hour day, I thought at first I was seeing things, but every time she blinked, there it wasn't. Since it was the only real color on her face, it was really obvious to me. I couldn't say if anyone else noticed it. The rest of her eye looked fine, so I don't know if the linear came off, or if she forgot or what. She's fairly goal oriented, so I can totally buy that she wouldn't look in the mirror all day. At the time, I decided to just stare at the columns of numbers in front of me (I work in research grants, so there were a lot of them) and not tell her. After all, when I spend a whole day missing an earring or with a huge chip in my nail polish, I always pretend that no one noticed. Maybe she'd just take off her makeup and never notice? Besides, she was just going to go home anyway. But now I'm wondering if she did something after work and could have fixed her makeup or something. If this should happen again, should I say something? And what's the worst makeup oops you've ever done?
Hey BTers! I was just wondering with all the beautiful people on here what you considered to be your best feature and why? Do you have more than one? Also, what don't you like about yourself (Just to cover that as well) My my favourite self feature has got to be my eyes. I like their shape a lot! That and I get a lot of compliments on them so they tend to be a source of 'feel-good' for me. I enjoy changing them up all the time as well! They're my main focus when applying makeup my worst feature has got to be my toes! They do not look anything like what my idea of beautiful feet do. I have short toes and my baby toe curls downward. :/ good thing I can cover them babies up! Lol! They only bug me when my straight toed friends are all flaunting theirs! * I'm going to revise this a bit - You have to say one good thing about yourself for every bad thing. Them's the rules!!!
I don't have any other makeup to cover my blemishes, is putting concealer on them a bad idea? Any suggestions on other makeup I should get? I go to a school where we cannot wear makeup so I can't put to much on.. I currently use two products for concealer, I use smash box camera ready under eye concealer, I also use a still concealer. Then after I apply that I put a neutrogena powder on top..
YES I do! Some bags I have stuff in them, I don't know what just stuff. Yet most are neatly folded, stored...you know, just in case I need them! For original Trekkies...my Sephora Bags are like "Tribbles."
I thought I would create a series of discussion where we could all share our make-up stashes. This is just meant to be fun. How it works: Just take a picture of the stash mentioned in this post and upload to the discussion board. Feel free to tell us what you like best and included swatches. I know some people would love that Ok ladies time to share your make-up stash for your face. This includes foundations, concealers, powders, blushes, bronzers, primers, and illuminizers/highlighters. This is the 1st in a series of post I will do. There is going to be one for eyes, lips, brushes, nails, perfume, skin care, body care, and hair care. I must warn you… I’ve been a MAC addict for years and years. lol
Stila In the Know.. I love matte shades and this palette has a nice variety of shades, not to mention that I love the name of the shadows. Other palettes I really like would be Stila In The Light, and Naked Basics.
Time for another one I thought I would create a series of discussion where we could all share our make-up stashes. This is just meant to be fun. How it works: Just take a picture of the stash mentioned in this post and upload to the discussion board. Feel free to tell us what you like best. Ok ladies time to share your stash for your fragrances! This is the 5th in a series of post I will do. Still to come: skin care, body care, hair care and brushes. Might do one with samples as well. For the new comers also check out the face, eyes, lips and nails series. ****************************************** Not super super into perfumes but someone here on BT got me into Tokyomilk. You know who you are Will be getting some shortly. I prefer sweet scents for fall/winter like vanilla and fresh scents in the spring/summer.
I wish so badly I'd known these things would make my life easier! If this helps even just 1 person, that's what I want. (If my post helps you in any way, please let me know!) 1. Change your mascara with the change of seasons. We all know we should change it out every 3 months, but who can remember when that was?! So, I change mine next month as Summer officially arrives. Then, another new tube in September when Fall arrives. That way, there's no doubt just how old that tube really is! 2. Quit picking. (This is where I'm being brutally transparent.) For years, it has hurt my head to see a clogged pore or a slight white center to an upcoming blemish. My solution was to squeeze, poke, prod...whatever I could to get it gone. What I've found is that LEAVING IT ALONE is actually the fastest cure for blemishes and for the overall prevention of them. I spent so much time in the mornings concealing, blending, concealing, blending, applying powder. My battle with cystic acne, I believe, is probably a lot of my fault because I was causing absolute chaos under my skin with all that nonsense. I've not touched my skin for almost 2 months now. How many blemishes do I have? Zero. How much redness do I have? Very little. When is the last time I used concealer? 1 month ago. Case made. 3. Don't reinvent the wheel. Instead of sticking with the formula of foundation that truly did work for me, I've sampled about all of them. YouTuber or blog poster raves about a foundation...I'm on it. I just tossed a BB cream and a CC cream sampler because I felt so compelled to see if this was the stuff that was going to work magic for me, and...wait for it...it didn't. Back to my foundation (Lancome's Dual Finish) formula and shade that get it right every time! I've learned that liquid formulas just don't work well for me, so why waste time, energy, and good skin (experienced a few hiccups of blemishes or just "yuck" skin because of sampler situations) to find that miracle product?! 4. Keep it simple. Instead of having tons of color products rolling around and coming loose from their pans, I have 1 single eye palette (Benefit's World Famous Neutrals in "Everyday") and 3 cheek colors (Tarte's Dollface, Exposed and then Benefit's Dandelion). All I do now is make either my eyes or lips the focal point of my look and use one of those cheek colors to brighten my face. And guess what? It's simple. I'm actually using up product before it expires or gets goopy or whatever. 5. Stick to a memorable routine. I exfoliate twice weekly (Murad's Pomegranate Mask), and I do it every Sunday and Wednesday. While it sets, I wash my BeautyBlender (I have 2, so this gives me a clean one twice a week). Once a month, I also wash my face & eye brushes while also doing my BeautyBlender. If I didn't stick to just those two days for treatments, I'd forget when, then it'd be a week, then a month before I'd realized how time had slipped by without keeping a routine. It truly does make a difference in my skin! Hope I helped!
I was at a friends last night and we ended up watching episode after episode of hoarders which was shocking and frightening at the same time. Today I read a comment asking to see my makeup collection so I pulled out my palettes out of their respective drawers for a photo and realized I have more than I thought. Also I realized how anxious I was about my hubby coming up and seeing how many I own. needless to say, they went back very quickly! I'm wondering if this is too many or if I'm just sitting pretty. I do use them all save for the nars ones. how many palettes do you own? do you use them all?
