Let's celebrate! Our fearless leader, and wonderful BT buddy, the one and only - theSuperGirl, has 2000 hearts! Congrats, girl! You deserve them all, and then some! Thank you for all you do for your SuperFlyGirls! We <3 you!
So with all the discussion about makeup confessions, hauls, and new TSBs, we know that we all have a serious hobby and addiction to beauty. But how do you store them in your home? Do you like how you've organized your makeup collection? Do you have the space for them? How about your space for prepping and putting on your makeup? What would you change, if you could? Honestly, with me... I've had to make a lot of compromises and make the best out of what I have to work with! I live in a very old home, over 200 years old. I love it to pieces and I wouldn't trade it for anything. BUT it kind of lacks some of the modern conveniences that newer homes have. I don't have many good storage solutions yet, my closet space is almost nonexistent, and I'm currently using an entire room with built-in shelves to display my shoe collection. I don't yet have a proper makeup vanity, and my full-sized bathroom is laid out very poorly and does not have good ventilation, so I don't like to store my makeup in there. Instead I have cleared out the drawers in my night stand and do my best to organize my makeup in there. When I go to put it on, I grab what I need and transfer it to my bathroom, where I apply my makeup -- luckily with tons of natural light! -- on tiptoe so I can peer into my too-high and too-small vanity mirror. I can't set makeup out on top of my mirrored dresser/vanity because I have a very bratty cat that likes to wake us up every morning by pushing things off of dressers and tables, and I have nightmares that I would wake up to a shattered Lingerie de Peau bottle on my wood floors. Let's just say that we fully intend to renovate that bathroom once we've set aside enough money for it, lol! In my fantasy land, I would have a well-lit vanity space with six large makeup drawers, a padded bench, and a makeup mirror. Heck, I'd have a whole bathroom just for preparing my makeup every day! More realistically, in the short term, I am going to buy Muji acrylic makeup drawers or similar makeup organizers and really keep things looking pretty in my drawers. I'd also like to buy some bathroom storage solutions (cheaper solutions, since we are saving for a renovation) to better organize my bathroom sink and vanity, and of course, I think a good makeup mirror is in my near future. How about all of you? Are you happy with how you manage your cosmetics? Any pictures or storage ideas to share, for people with limited space? I'm curious!
What makeup is everyone wearing today? Today I am wearing: 1. Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation in Champagne 2. Benefit Coralista blush 3. TheBalm Mary-Loumanizer 4. Dior Creme de Rose Lipbalm 5. Dior Addict Lipstick in 454 6. Benefit Creaseless Cream shadow in RSVP and under all this I am wearing Neutrogena Pure and Free Liquid Sunblock SPF 50 So c'mon now...confess!
I got my Nordstrom card online and I couldn't resist using it right away on makeup. I've heard a lot of people rave about Nordstrom's and how much better they are than Sephora but I need details! So far, they have the standard 3 free samples that don't look any different than Sephora's but their rewards program is a bit on the high side. I think they said 2000 points puts you on the lower level. But anyway, I bought a whole bunch of Burberry lipsticks and eye shadow palette as well as my standard 5 million Nars products that I've never purchased before because I didn't think the colors were right but Nordstrom's color charts seem to be better than Sephora's. More true to color but I may be wrong. I even picked up a MAC lippie.. But I've never tried Burberry before so I wanted to get the opinion of those who use it. I picked up 3 of the Velvet Matte lipsticks and the Soft Satin lippie. I also picked up the Beauty Complete Eye Palette. While it is expensive, is it worth it? And I was eyeing some Tom Ford's. How is that?
Exactly what the title says I know we've chatted about this before, but I thought I'd revive the topic with a new thread. With Chic Week coming up and new collections/products/lines dropping what feels like every day, what brands (collections, too, since Sephora's offering can be limited at the brand's discretion) do you wish you saw on shelves? For me, it would be Chanel, Tom Ford, and YSL's Spring collection. Chanel's Illusion d'Ombres (cream shadows) and Glossimers (lip glosses) are calling to me with their siren song, as are Tom Ford's lippies, quads and contour palettes (however exorbitantly priced!!!). I love YSL lippies, so I wish the new colors got some love here at Sephora. Oh, and while we're on the subject, ByTerry and Chantecaille wouldn't hurt, either! I adore both, and don't own nearly enough of either!
As much as I would like to pretend that I start everyday in a fluffy white robe, carefully applying make-up at an immaculately organized vanity….that's just not the case. I have make-up stashes all over the place and I'm constantly getting ready on the run. (Seriously, my husband talked me into getting a manual transmission car because he thought having to shift gears would cut down on my multi-tasking). So dump your purses, empty your gym bag and join me in owning up to what I'm actually reaching for on a daily basis. The Questions: 1. How many places do you store/stash make-up? 2. Which product(s) do you own in multiples so you're never without one? 3. Are your stashes high-end or drugstore? Are you like a friend of mine who hoards designer make-up, but totes around a Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker? 4. Have you ever stabbed yourself in the eye with mascara while driving? My answers: 1. 4.5: Home, Gym Bag, Office Drawer, Purse. The .5 is for the center console of my car. Stuff just ends up there. 2. The Body Shop Concealer Pencils, Blotting Papers, and Tweezerman Tweezers. I swear an errant eyebrow hair (or god forbid a chin hair) can rob me of my ability to concentrate until I'm able to pluck it. 3. Mine are a mix. I rotate a lot of samples and minis into my stashes as a way to try new products 4. More times than I care to admit. In the interest of honesty, I pulled everything out of my various make-up bags and took pictures. Gym Bag Stash: 1. Paula's Choice RESIST Antioxidant Serum, 2. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, 3. Shiseido Eyelash Curler, 4. Mini Lorac Luminizing Powder in Spotlight, 5. Miracle Skin Transformer in Light, 6. Tweezerman Tweezers, 7. Dejavu Fiberwig Mascara, 8. Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Brunette/Dark Brown, 9. Mini Fresh Sugar Rose Lip Treatment, 10. Sephora Nano Eyeliner in Pure White, 11. Mini Stila Convertible Color in Peony, 12. The Body Shop Concealer Pencil in 01, 13. Brushes Work Stash: 1. La Fresh Face Wipes, 2. The Body Shop Concealer Pencil in 01, 3. Mini Buxom Lip Polish in Dolly, 4. Sephora Blotting Papers, 5. Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Mascara, 6. Neutrogena Hand Lotion, 7. Jurlique Hand Sanitizer, 8. Assorted Emi-Jay Hair Ties, 9. Spin Pins Purse Stash: 1. Band-aids (I'm accident prone), 2. Clean & Clear Blotting Sheets, 3. Mary Kay Hand Lotion, 5. Re-purposed mini tub of moisturizer, 6. Emi-Jay Hair Tie w/ Mini Claw Clips, 7. Anastasia Brow Whiz in Brunette, 8. The Body Shop Love Gloss in Sweet Peach, 9. Mini Lancome Definicils Mascara in Black, 10. Tweezerman Tweezers, 11. The Body Shop Concealer Pencil in 01, 12. Mini Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Rose Sugar, 13. Japonesque Mini Eyelash Curler, 14. Whatever lipstick I'm wearing that day (Today its Christian Dior Rouge Dior in Macadam)
Hey chicks, So I have been dying to try this self tanner because even though I thought I was forever in with my Xen Tan Products this has definitely made me have a new love in self tanning. I applied this mousse and instantly I fell in love it is so light and airy and just seems to melt into my skin and feels like you have nothing on as your waiting for that dreaded shower time but with this it's not bad at all. I did the first coat and waited 3 hours got in the shower and rinsed and did the second coat and went to bed I was completely dry and did not come off at all on my sheets. Also I'm usually really dry when applying self tanners but again this one has that covered to. I have to say bye to Xen Tan which I thought I would never do but Vita Liberata has definitely taken it's place. For all you sensitve skin girls this completely natural so that's an added plus!

So I thought I was alone in this, but apparently many of you did too! We know we're not supposed to pick. We know it can lead to scars and infections. We know it hurts. But we can't help it. I'm starting this thread so that anyone who suffers with picking can have a safe space and judgement-free zone. Please feel free to share whatever you need. Be warned: some things written here may seem "gross." Please don't judge or tell us how gross they are. We got that already, and that's not the point of this thread. xoxo, Lauren
I know similar posts have gone around....but when do you know your stash of make up/ skin care/ body care is a bit....ummmm....well-stocked? I know mine is because my sister stayed with us for a weekend and went to grab a towel out of the linen closet and says "geeze...you must be a philosophy consultant or something!" Haha...made me laugh, but I went through my stash and handed her a bunch of stuff to try...now she's in love with philosophy too!
So today my boyfriend paid for my order as an early bday present and I went looking at my past orders and I noticed a scary track record... I've been shopping EVERY.WEEK.RELIGIOUSLY. Sometimes in store, sometimes online. They are not large orders but still. He doesn't mind but I'm just like "OMG I have a problem". He says it's OK because I have been under a lot of stress but shopping when I'm stressed shouldn't become a habit, right? I don't know, maybe I'm overreacting and causing myself more stress. What do you think? Picture very much related...
I wish so badly I'd known these things would make my life easier! If this helps even just 1 person, that's what I want. (If my post helps you in any way, please let me know!) 1. Change your mascara with the change of seasons. We all know we should change it out every 3 months, but who can remember when that was?! So, I change mine next month as Summer officially arrives. Then, another new tube in September when Fall arrives. That way, there's no doubt just how old that tube really is! 2. Quit picking. (This is where I'm being brutally transparent.) For years, it has hurt my head to see a clogged pore or a slight white center to an upcoming blemish. My solution was to squeeze, poke, prod...whatever I could to get it gone. What I've found is that LEAVING IT ALONE is actually the fastest cure for blemishes and for the overall prevention of them. I spent so much time in the mornings concealing, blending, concealing, blending, applying powder. My battle with cystic acne, I believe, is probably a lot of my fault because I was causing absolute chaos under my skin with all that nonsense. I've not touched my skin for almost 2 months now. How many blemishes do I have? Zero. How much redness do I have? Very little. When is the last time I used concealer? 1 month ago. Case made. 3. Don't reinvent the wheel. Instead of sticking with the formula of foundation that truly did work for me, I've sampled about all of them. YouTuber or blog poster raves about a foundation...I'm on it. I just tossed a BB cream and a CC cream sampler because I felt so compelled to see if this was the stuff that was going to work magic for me, and...wait for it...it didn't. Back to my foundation (Lancome's Dual Finish) formula and shade that get it right every time! I've learned that liquid formulas just don't work well for me, so why waste time, energy, and good skin (experienced a few hiccups of blemishes or just "yuck" skin because of sampler situations) to find that miracle product?! 4. Keep it simple. Instead of having tons of color products rolling around and coming loose from their pans, I have 1 single eye palette (Benefit's World Famous Neutrals in "Everyday") and 3 cheek colors (Tarte's Dollface, Exposed and then Benefit's Dandelion). All I do now is make either my eyes or lips the focal point of my look and use one of those cheek colors to brighten my face. And guess what? It's simple. I'm actually using up product before it expires or gets goopy or whatever. 5. Stick to a memorable routine. I exfoliate twice weekly (Murad's Pomegranate Mask), and I do it every Sunday and Wednesday. While it sets, I wash my BeautyBlender (I have 2, so this gives me a clean one twice a week). Once a month, I also wash my face & eye brushes while also doing my BeautyBlender. If I didn't stick to just those two days for treatments, I'd forget when, then it'd be a week, then a month before I'd realized how time had slipped by without keeping a routine. It truly does make a difference in my skin! Hope I helped!
Starting to feel left out seeing all the newest members introducing themselves, so here goes... Hi, I'm Anne. I am 29 years old and I live in Ohio with my husband and two dogs- a miniature wiener dog and a sheepdog. I have recently completed nursing school but have not passed the state board licensure yet. I currently work in retail. To me, makeup is a means of stress relief. It's something I look forward to every day like a creative outlet. I'm into bright colors and trying new things. I love BT because it gives me a chance to share this passion with others who understand it. I am still new to things; I've learned a lot in just a couple months but I still have so much more to learn. So here's looking forward to a bright BT future! I'm sure you'll see me around

Hey! I 'm Lyndsey. I'm 39 (tomorrow, March 6) and I have 2 boys, age 11 and 6 (7 in 2 weeks). I'm an online teacher, so I'm online all the time. Since I work alone at home, I'm on facebook a lot because it's sort of my water cooler- it's where I talk to people during the day! I've started visiting BT more because I'm worried that people will think I never work if I'm on FB all the time. I'm super addicted to makeup, though I wear neutrals 99% of the time. I lift heavy weights for fun (but I'm not a crossfitter) and I am a roller derby announcer after I retired from skating for 4 years. I've been lurking BT for a while but just started posting a month ago.
Hi Everyone, I saw a friend this weekend who had the most beautiful eyelashes, they looked real, better than mascara. I asked if they were false lashes, she whispered.... eyelash extensions!!!!!! Has anyone here had personal experience with this good or bad? My eyelashes are short and sparse, mascara helps, but the results are not as nice as the extensions I just saw..... Comments? Opinions, share your experience....... I would love to hear as I am tempted but see that the price ranges are $80 - 200 for a full set and then, $40 - $75 for relashing 3 weeks later. I'm tempted....
So I'm looking to upgrade and get a vanity, but I have some questions. Does anyone have the acrylic lipstick holder from the Container Store? Does it hold OCC lip tars well or no? Any container suggestions, store recommendations, advice you wish you'd had when making yours? This is the desk I'm looking at, does anyone have it or the Alex system from IKEA? I'm also thinking I'm going to paint it, as white seems a bit too sterile for a make up super station. I'm super excited but a bit nervous as well!
Just browsing the Nars website as I do everyday and saw the new Final Cut line just came out. I love the illuminators but how would someone ever be able to pull off a lavender one? Nars is good at showing images of how items look on women of color so I'm wondering how it would look on someone. I don't think that it's something that I would be able to pull off but it is Purdy to look at, LOL! I love Nars but the whole line looks too pink to show up well on me. Orgasm looks terrible on me. Has anyone else seen it? What do you think?
So the oscars are on tonight. What do you guys think the color of the night will be? who will when best dressed? Who are you excited to see. I cant ant wait to see what Lupita is wearing. She always stuns on the red carpet.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I just suck at applying eyeliner. It always looks uneven, bumpy, and silly. I'm going to a fun concert next week, and I want to do something really fun with my eyes. Is there a good liner for beginners? Is there a trick to making it look even and smooth? Help!
They are having triple points for platinum customers on purchase through the 15th. They virtually have no customer service and I've only had bad experiences with them. That said, I have $53 in my Redeemable points and to not use them would be a waste. What does everybody that uses Ulta think about the promotion? Does the points go to the Redeemable points? Are you going to indulge with Chic Week almost being upon us?
I don't know about you ladies but I have at least 562 sample packets in my possession. In the "Project 10 Pan" spirit I thought we could challenge ourselves to see how many samples we could use up in a month. I'm already at 2 with the Naked Body Butter and Hourglass foundation samples I used this morning. Anyone want to "compete" with me?
I gave in and bought 3 of the new Nars Matte Multiples. I wasn't planning on it because I like the shimmer of the originals but I just had to try them just because they are Nars and Sephora has an awesome return policy. I even got colors I wouldn't ordinarily wear (Coral and Poppy red). I don't mind it having less product than the original because I still have 8 of the originals that I've had for years (South Beach and Lamu I basically wear everyday in the summer and G-Spot and Malibu during the fall) and I haven't even finished half the tube (you use so little product really so it lasts forever) so why would I complain that there's less product when I can't even finish what I have? I hope that I love them but time will tell. I'll be getting them on Tuesday so we'll see!
