Ok so I've been wanting to make this thread for a while. I've also been wanting to start a "random thoughts" thread...but I figured I'd separate the categories so that at least the "beauty" one is on the front page, rather than hidden in off topic. So, have a beauty-related thought but don't think it's worth starting a thread about ? Post it here !

today I got a facial at an extraordinarily nice spa. A real treat. And the results were immediate and truly great. But guys: she pulled out a clarisonic and a foamy cleanser for that first initial cleanse, and I nearly had a heart attack. Great for a lot of people but most of you know how I feel about those things !!!!!! Overall, as I said, it was great and my skin is happy. But sheesh.

Ulta sent me a promotional code for $15 off $50 purchase. This is the first time ever I get one of these, so happy.

My Ulta order arrived today. I always choose the random sample selection because I like to live on the edge. I received a foil Porefessional and a Smashbox primer. LOL LOL LOL, what is this amateur hour, Ulta?

They must have a never ending pit of those samples!   😂. I'm sorry but I find this funny cause I just recently used up the last of my deluxe samples of both of these items after working diligently at it.  They're not bad products, but there are much better products out there.

I get those two most of the time, too. But each time I open my box I'm holding my breath hoping I got anything else. Sometimes I get perfume samples, and in recent months got a PUR lip sampler. I keep selecting samples just to keep the hope alive.

I have been getting those two same exact samples every order for MONTHS! Even if I select "fragrance" or "skincare"  samples I am still cursed with the porefessional and smashbox primers. They must have thousands they cannot get rid of. lol.

That's exactly what I got. And get every single time. I used to just give away my ulta samples as extras in trades, but I have a conscience and I just can't give people that dumb smashbox primer anymore.

Yep, I always get cr*p samples from them too...

I almost never order online from Ulta anymore. Unless I really need a GWP, there's some exclusive deal, or the cashback is good, it's really not worth it to me. Their shipping is also so slow, it's just more worth it for me to drive 5ish mins to my store to grab stuff instead.

I've stopped getting samples from Ulta for that very reason. ugh.

I still select to get them because I'm entitled to them and every once in a while there's something amazing (hello, Butter London lipstick sample that directly led to a purchase I'd otherwise never make). And I just donate the rest. But yeah, there hasn't been anything great in a while.

Oh wow, that lipstick sample sounds fab - I'm jealous! I'd keep getting them, too, if I ever received anything like that. Mine are pretty much always awful.

I mean, this was like straight up two years ago, and it was just a foil, but I was so darn impressed by it. I can count the number of products on one hand that I've bought because of a sample.

For the past 3 Ulta boxes (all that I've ordered from them so far) after clicking off random sample, I've gotten exactly one perfumed piece of paper per box. Every time, daisy and daisy dream. Nothin else. Why you do dis, Ulta

oh gosh not only did this happen to me with ULTA, but Sephora has substituted me with Benefit Porefessional soooo many times, so sick of it. lol

They don't bother substituting samples in my orders.  If they don't have them, I get nothing.
