Ok so I've been wanting to make this thread for a while. I've also been wanting to start a "random thoughts" thread...but I figured I'd separate the categories so that at least the "beauty" one is on the front page, rather than hidden in off topic. So, have a beauty-related thought but don't think it's worth starting a thread about ? Post it here !
today I got a facial at an extraordinarily nice spa. A real treat. And the results were immediate and truly great. But guys: she pulled out a clarisonic and a foamy cleanser for that first initial cleanse, and I nearly had a heart attack. Great for a lot of people but most of you know how I feel about those things !!!!!! Overall, as I said, it was great and my skin is happy. But sheesh.

sfm1328, welcome! We have wine and cheese ready for you.....
I don't want to speak too soon, but I think I killed my baby zit in its first stages of growth. It was under the skin, not visible much yet. I have been applying my Mario Badescu Buffering lotion on it like it was going out of style. It feels less bumpy today.
Ima gonna use it a few more days to make sure it is dead! I might have escaped a zit...yay!
I think these are just stress + too many products being sampled. My face is high maintenance like that. But I heard that wine and cheese are good for one's skin. Thank you for the welcome!
Cheese is not good (except in small quantities for me). But there is plenty of wine.
Since my zit episode of the past 2 months, I am extra vigilant at the moment. There is no zit (even in the thought phase), that will escape my wrath!
It's amazing how you can be so oblivious to temperature outside if you stay inside a nice air conditioned office all day. I ran out quickly to do some errands and it was 95 degrees! Wth!
It happens to me all the time. I don't go out very frequently so weather is pleasant and temprature is same for me through out the year unless I go out of my safe hole 😉
You can be my spokesperson and may substitute safe hole for cave if you wish. 😛
Right now it's pouring rain. I'm inside, perfectly happy at my dry 21degrees.
I wear a jacket inside my office because it gets really cold, but once I'm outside it's SOOO hot!
Same here. I have a couple jackets and sweaters there because it is freezing.
Gals, you need to move to the East Bay/SF. We usually have a cool breeze going. Just sayin'
Depends where in the bay. In my end it's dry and hot right now.
When someone asks how long my hair is, I say "almost to my waist", or "to mid back".
Well...apparently not. It IS to my waist. Yay!
I am the paranoid needy client at the barbers. "Don't cut too much!!"
Stylists seem to LOVE cutting long hair.
I hang on to my stylists for dear life. It is a sacred bond.
I wonder if other stylists must think "OMG, I can make her look so much better! Let me have a go at her head with my scissors! She won't look like a school marm once I'm done with her!"
Girl, I'm definitely a needy client as well. It's taken me almost a year to grow my pixie cut down to my shoulders, so now when I have to get a trim I'm like "NOT TOO SHORT I NEED IT." I love my hairstylist, though; she's like my hair patronus...
Holmes, long hair is me. After I lost my glasses, my hair is my only tool of distraction from boring conversations, for deep thought, or plain tom foolery.
My hairstylist is currently pregnant. Which means she will be on maternity leave for my cut after next. 😞
I totally understand. I used to have hair almost down to my butt, before I went rogue and had it chopped off in a blaze of glory. I miss it sometimes...
Sorry to hear about your hairstylist 😞 (I mean, I'm not sorry that she's bringing a tiny life in this world, just that it's interfering with your hair plans! The bond between hairstylist and client runs deep...) Hopefully she can recommend someone for you while she's on leave!
Holmes, it is a crisis, no?
I usually go for a cut/trim every 3 months. So my next visit is October. I think she is due November (thanksgiving).
She said that she would refer me to another stylist that has long hair who would be sensitive to my neediness. I doubt that. I might just have to hibernate for a few months. In January when all my lipstick swatches look like sneers..you will know why!
Well, at least it'll be winter so you can hide your hair under cute hats/scarves! (Just trying to look on the bright side here...) Also, you can sneer all you want, but I guarantee your lipstick swatches will still look fantastic (maybe just a bit more edgy...)!
Wearing a tiny hydrocolloid bandaid in public... go or no go? 😄
I'm not sure if I would be more perturbed to still have a giant zit tomorrow, or have people staring at the bandaid today...
Just channel your inner Nelly circa early 2000's 🙂
a bandaid in time saves a zit from getting to the size of a dime.. (sorry, that's the best i could do w/ spinning the"stitch in time" proverb to apply to your situation)
