Ok so I've been wanting to make this thread for a while. I've also been wanting to start a "random thoughts" thread...but I figured I'd separate the categories so that at least the "beauty" one is on the front page, rather than hidden in off topic. So, have a beauty-related thought but don't think it's worth starting a thread about ? Post it here !
today I got a facial at an extraordinarily nice spa. A real treat. And the results were immediate and truly great. But guys: she pulled out a clarisonic and a foamy cleanser for that first initial cleanse, and I nearly had a heart attack. Great for a lot of people but most of you know how I feel about those things !!!!!! Overall, as I said, it was great and my skin is happy. But sheesh.

Noisetier
Thé
John Galliano
Oyedo
Bonus: a few photos from my recent trip to the SoHo boutique:
I bought John Galliano, and sniffed EVERYTHING.
GIRL. That is, like, home accessories porn for me. I NEED ALL THE CANDLES.
That boutique was my heaven. I would have stayed forever and just slept under one of the display tables/bathed in the sink if they would have let me.
Woah... my heart wasn't ready for all those goodies.
Also you just mentioned 3 of my top 5 candles from Diptyque!
I haven't tried Oyedo but it's going on my wishlist
That is true!
I love Chene & Bois Cire. Both are very woodsy.
I also always have Verveine on my kitchen! It neutralizes any type of odor. Pomandre during Christmas time is always nice as well.
Curious: which of your five did I leave out? We do share similar tastes often, it seems! 🙂
I got Eau Duelle in a BT trade and I can't state how much I love it. Vanilla and incense. Hypnotic, amazing, profound and just perfect.
i bet you were ONE HAPPY WOMAN the moment you stepped in there.
hope you had THE BEST time on your trip ❤️
Oh, I was! I was fangirling all over the place. So much so that the shopkeep gave me lots of little goodies and a linen logo tote, even though I could only buy one candle.
It was amazing, jemly. Thank you. 🙂
I've never purchased one before. I went in one day and smelled a whole bunch of them but I couldn't make up my mind. Kinda felt bad for the SA but oh well. I like all the floral ones esp the rose scented ones and the gardenia (which was my grandmother's favorite smell and since I never met her I like to keep gardenias in my garden for her)
I bought my first the other day - Tilleul! it's lovely but floral and nostalgic - reminds me of my summers visiting my grandparents in France :).
Choisya is next - I love all things orange blossomy.
Oh Choisya is absolutely beautiful. If my SA at Nordies didn't throw in the Choisya mini candle I wouldn't have discovered this true gem. I purchased the Baies hourglass diffuser w/ a refill and a large Philosykos edt, and this lady threw in a full size do son solid perfume, 2 mini candles, deluxe size l'ombre dans l'eau edp spray (12ml!) and a whole bunch of spray samples, all nicely tucked in the linen bag. It was like a Christmas in August! 😄
NarNarNars - that sounds like an incredibly associate! Where was this? I really love Choisya and was thisclose to buying the candle yesterday. I was surprised to see it came in solid perfume form!
Also, I see that Baies is super super popular, but I never really smell much when I pick it up in store. To be fair, most of the candles seem to have a weaker smell in store. What does it smell like to you??
I was told that this associate is a Diptyque brand ambassador, so that's probably why she was a lot more generous than others. I can happily PM you her contact info. 🙂
Baies is probably the most popular candle from Diptyque. I smell blackcurrant, roses and green leaves. Not too flowery, not sickening sweet-- very well balanced. If a Diptyque candle smells weak in store, make sure you ask an associate to pop the wax so that you can smell the candle. Grabbing a candle and trying to smelling it from the top just doesn't cut it. Also, many people say that Henri Bendel's Blackcurrant candle is very similar to Baies, so if you aren't quite ready to drop $60 for a full sized Baies, check out HB's version. 🙂
I like Ambre best then Thé. I want a Violette though!
Not entirely beauty related but, has anyone shopped here before? I walked into one today and was floored. They have AMAZING clothes! Truly a beautiful selection of high quality lower priced clothes ($24 t-shirts $50-60 sweaters). Plus they offer an interest free store card (didn't get it but interest free is an incredible deal).
They have a website too.
I just ordered the customized skincare bag, used the VIBHOUR promo, snagged the Comodity Moss sample, AND used Ebates(8%)
A few minutes later I get a notifiation on my cash back...$10! For only paying $25! I'll take it...
It's because of the way the skincare bag rings up - as a subtotal of $25 + $20 for each sample, for a $125 total with a $100 discount. So Ebates is seeing the discount as an unrelated promo and giving you cash back on the $125. Same reason why the $35 min promos work with it.
Sometimes Sephora's glitches work in our favor 😉
Heck yeah. Essentially getting the skincare bag + some good freebies all for $15 sounds like a good deal to me:D
Ebates gave me more than they should have for a Sephora purchase yesterday -- like 11-12%. Never happened to me before, but happy to take it.
