Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I'm feeling the same way!

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

So my friend received quite a hefty sum of gift cards to Sephora (her friends and family gave her several and it added up) but told me that a mutual friend was bugging her for it. The mutual friend loaded up a basket and at first my friend thought that she was offering suggestions but then sent her this giant cart asking "Is this too much?"

This is the same "friend" who took advantage of my friend's generosity before.

I got mad and made a cartful of suggestions for her. Hope she does a giant haul.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I don't even know how someone could just presume things like that! What a terrible friend. I hope yours treats herself nicely with HER giftcards.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Uhhhhh, no!!!!!   Why would someone presume to use someone else's gift money?  That's utterly distasteful.  That money was meant to gift your friend and not anyone else.  Honestly, I'd be reconsidering the value of the friendship at that point.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Omg...that's so messed up. I can't believe she thinks it's okay to basically ask her to fork over her gift cards

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Exactly.  Just because it's a large sum doesn't mean she should have to share it.  It sounds as though she's being manipulated to feel guilty if she doesn't.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Time to drop a "friend". I would never, and could never imagine doing such a thing! The nerve of some people. It's sad that this actually happens to A LOT of people. Unfortunately some people don't know how to say no, and people love to use their kindness against them.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I know companies aren't obligated to give birthday gifts and my whining about free things might be a touch rude, but I really hate when companies that do give free gifts vary so widely in quality for time month to month.

Ulta's birthday program is so hit or miss, and sadly first quarter seems to be mainly miss. Previously people were getting a full sized UD eyeshadow, second got a new release deluxe lancome mascara, and now third quarter is getting an *entire* nyx eyeshadow palette. Meanwhile first quarter got a sample of Benefit's primer smaller than my thumb. It feels a touch unfair to say the least, particularly when both the monetary value and the desirability varies so greatly.

I'm holding out hope UD will keep the full sized Sin highlighter long enough that those of us who had a birthday before they started giving it out can get one, but I'll be a bit bummed if they don't (however the free eye shadow is such a nice and close in value gift that I wouldn't be too put out).

Note: I don't mind at all when higher spending categories get better gifts. It makes perfect sense to me that a Rouge or Platinum etc member should receive better gifts/extra birthday perks. I just feel like it shouldn't be determined by month.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@Annalily11 I cannot guarantee that it will work but if your birthday is in the first final month of quarter (for example my birthday is June & Ulta gives you 30 days to get it) you can ask the SA to give you the gift for the quarter before.  Last year I think April-June birthdays received some hairspray and July-September received the full-size UD shadow.  I went in store and asked if they would make an exception and they did no problem.  Again I can't guarantee that it would work but it is my understanding that they rarely "run out" of a specific quarter's gift.

Also, I do agree that it can be frustrating to see that the gifts are not equivalent.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Alas I am in February, but thank you for the advice!

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@veronika23 When fun new products are only available online, like the Huda Liquid Matte Minis.  And, when new brands are introduced only online - like Pretty Vulgar.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@greeneyedgirl107  yes I can totally see that being a peeve 😉

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Oh BT... why oh why do you hate hearts so much... I'll go into a thread to read and heart posts and when I come back to that same thread later to read the new comments the hearts I've previously given aren't there anymore... Anyone else notice this?

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

My first pet peeve:

Sephora not distributing discount codes uniformly to all its loyal customers.

My second pet peeve:

(This one is going to alienate some people, but I cannot hold it in.)

Angry/complaining postings of "where is MY discount code".

It just hits me as so entitled. It is NICE when we get discount codes, and for sure - post "Anyone care to share the discount code, please?" but demanding it as an entitlement... yuk.

That's all. I apologize in advance to those I offend.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I agree with the first peeve 😞 it's unfair that these generous codes were sent to a limited number of customers. From a consumer stand point, it's upsetting.

However, I've been trying to justify Sephora's decision (now, please correct me if I'm wrong because I honestly have no idea lol) by comparing it to the discount codes sent by Ulta and other retailers (Saks)? I believe they send codes only to a limited number of consumers as well (?). Maybe Sephora just wanted to put their foot in the door with this recent decision.

Edit: I saw that it was a generic code. Probably just another email error 😞

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@Insomniacmuffin first pet peeve: I agree completely. second pet peeve: while I don't disagree completely, I'm not sure I agree 100%... sephora should absolutely cater to the first pet peeve by giving one to everyone, though I do agree that the incessant "where's my code" posts that this promo has spawned are over the top. Complaints are understandable, especially if the codes had turned out to be unique, but personally I would have contacted sephora directly instead of expecting a response from them on the forum.

But what kills me more than anything are the "where's my code" posts right after a post that gives the code and says it's generic. Reading skills are so last year, apparently 🙄

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

This is probably a first... but Sephora's Customer Service. I tried contacting Live Chat AND the Rouge Line.

Today, I went to Sephora JCPenney today to return two unused 100 point perks. They were current month's rewards. The associates weren't sure if a return was possible, so they called their manager and asked. They assured me that it was fine and I would get my points back.

So, I went home and I noticed that instead of points being added back, it showed that I redeemed two 100 point items. Thus, 200 points were subtracted from my account. The two rewards that I returned also popped up in my Purchase History for today.

I thought, "Okay. Sephora's CS can fix this for me." I went onto Live Chat and explained the situation, and even sent photos of my return receipt. The live chat rep seemed confused, and then gave me back in total 200 points for the return of the two rewards. I explained to him that by him giving me back  200 points, it would only make up for the 200 that was wrongfully subtracted from my account. I would need 400 points total in order for me to actually get the 200 points back for the two items I returned. He kept telling me that the 200 points was for the return. I kept explaining to him, and he told me to call CS for better help.

I called the Rouge Line and explained the situation. The guy on the phone stated that I got all the points back for my return. Once again, I explain the +200 points added was not enough to make up for the -200 points subtracted AND the return of the items. He said there's nothing he can do for me and that I got the points that I deserved. Right after, he followed up with the usual "if there's anything else he could do for me today" with a snarky tone. I felt defeated and said no.

I do not suggest for people to try to return point perks at SiJCP as maybe the system processes it wrong. This was my first time calling the Rouge Line and I don't think I will ever again. I've heard people say they're nice, but I was so disappointed. So now, I am out of two point perks and a bad day.

(I also didn't get the $15 off $50, but I see that there's a universal code, so that's good!) Sephora, you're letting me down.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I've also had unhelpful experiences with the Rouge line.  They don't seem to be any better than the regular line.  I also missed out on the $15 off coupon.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@KatieJiang was this the SK-11 miniature Essence bottles? I've been holding onto mine to return them but I think I'll just keep it now and call it a loss.  Thank you though so I know not to return them.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@sarahshter  No these were the Bite mini lipsticks! I redeemed three: one for myself, mom, and aunt but after I tried on the color, I knew they wouldn't like it. So I went to return the two unused ones that were for them!

I heard people were getting their points refunded for those SKII bottles when they complained. The size discrepancy was very disappointing. But, that reward was from months back so I'm not sure if contacting them now will be effective. You can try messaging a mod? Either way, I'm sorry about it. The SKII essence is one of my HG so I hope you like it!

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@veronika23  @makeitup305  @snoflakefaerie  A mod kindly gave me back my points, but gently reminded me that rewards are not returnable.

I was told otherwise at the store, so hopefully all the associates/Sephora workers including CS will not misinform customers in the future and end up in a fiasco like I did. Their computer system probably automatically thinks it is a redemption every time a reward it is scanned since rewards aren't meant to be returned.
