Beauty Pet Peeves 2

The other thread was getting too long and difficult to load!

So what are your beauty pet peeves? What grinds your gears? Share your stories!!!

@greeneyedgirl107  yes I can totally see that being a peeve 😉

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Oh BT... why oh why do you hate hearts so much... I'll go into a thread to read and heart posts and when I come back to that same thread later to read the new comments the hearts I've previously given aren't there anymore... Anyone else notice this?

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

My first pet peeve:

Sephora not distributing discount codes uniformly to all its loyal customers.

My second pet peeve:

(This one is going to alienate some people, but I cannot hold it in.)

Angry/complaining postings of "where is MY discount code".

It just hits me as so entitled. It is NICE when we get discount codes, and for sure - post "Anyone care to share the discount code, please?" but demanding it as an entitlement... yuk.

That's all. I apologize in advance to those I offend.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I agree with the first peeve 😞 it's unfair that these generous codes were sent to a limited number of customers. From a consumer stand point, it's upsetting.

However, I've been trying to justify Sephora's decision (now, please correct me if I'm wrong because I honestly have no idea lol) by comparing it to the discount codes sent by Ulta and other retailers (Saks)? I believe they send codes only to a limited number of consumers as well (?). Maybe Sephora just wanted to put their foot in the door with this recent decision.

Edit: I saw that it was a generic code. Probably just another email error 😞

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@Insomniacmuffin first pet peeve: I agree completely. second pet peeve: while I don't disagree completely, I'm not sure I agree 100%... sephora should absolutely cater to the first pet peeve by giving one to everyone, though I do agree that the incessant "where's my code" posts that this promo has spawned are over the top. Complaints are understandable, especially if the codes had turned out to be unique, but personally I would have contacted sephora directly instead of expecting a response from them on the forum.

But what kills me more than anything are the "where's my code" posts right after a post that gives the code and says it's generic. Reading skills are so last year, apparently 🙄

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

This is probably a first... but Sephora's Customer Service. I tried contacting Live Chat AND the Rouge Line.

Today, I went to Sephora JCPenney today to return two unused 100 point perks. They were current month's rewards. The associates weren't sure if a return was possible, so they called their manager and asked. They assured me that it was fine and I would get my points back.

So, I went home and I noticed that instead of points being added back, it showed that I redeemed two 100 point items. Thus, 200 points were subtracted from my account. The two rewards that I returned also popped up in my Purchase History for today.

I thought, "Okay. Sephora's CS can fix this for me." I went onto Live Chat and explained the situation, and even sent photos of my return receipt. The live chat rep seemed confused, and then gave me back in total 200 points for the return of the two rewards. I explained to him that by him giving me back  200 points, it would only make up for the 200 that was wrongfully subtracted from my account. I would need 400 points total in order for me to actually get the 200 points back for the two items I returned. He kept telling me that the 200 points was for the return. I kept explaining to him, and he told me to call CS for better help.

I called the Rouge Line and explained the situation. The guy on the phone stated that I got all the points back for my return. Once again, I explain the +200 points added was not enough to make up for the -200 points subtracted AND the return of the items. He said there's nothing he can do for me and that I got the points that I deserved. Right after, he followed up with the usual "if there's anything else he could do for me today" with a snarky tone. I felt defeated and said no.

I do not suggest for people to try to return point perks at SiJCP as maybe the system processes it wrong. This was my first time calling the Rouge Line and I don't think I will ever again. I've heard people say they're nice, but I was so disappointed. So now, I am out of two point perks and a bad day.

(I also didn't get the $15 off $50, but I see that there's a universal code, so that's good!) Sephora, you're letting me down.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I've also had unhelpful experiences with the Rouge line.  They don't seem to be any better than the regular line.  I also missed out on the $15 off coupon.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@KatieJiang was this the SK-11 miniature Essence bottles? I've been holding onto mine to return them but I think I'll just keep it now and call it a loss.  Thank you though so I know not to return them.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@sarahshter  No these were the Bite mini lipsticks! I redeemed three: one for myself, mom, and aunt but after I tried on the color, I knew they wouldn't like it. So I went to return the two unused ones that were for them!

I heard people were getting their points refunded for those SKII bottles when they complained. The size discrepancy was very disappointing. But, that reward was from months back so I'm not sure if contacting them now will be effective. You can try messaging a mod? Either way, I'm sorry about it. The SKII essence is one of my HG so I hope you like it!

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@veronika23  @makeitup305  @snoflakefaerie  A mod kindly gave me back my points, but gently reminded me that rewards are not returnable.

I was told otherwise at the store, so hopefully all the associates/Sephora workers including CS will not misinform customers in the future and end up in a fiasco like I did. Their computer system probably automatically thinks it is a redemption every time a reward it is scanned since rewards aren't meant to be returned.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I'm glad things got worked out! It's such a bummer when in store tells you one thing, but it's actually the other 😞

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@KatieJiang  glad you got your points back!

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

The service is so inconsistent. Sometimes I get good CS and other times it's terrible. Doesn't Sephora have SOP's in place for ALL their cs team???

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@KatieJiang I really wanted to return a big reward (2500 pts) but apparently you can't. It sucks that I'm now out of that many points for an underwhelming perk. I figured since Sephora had such renowned CS it would be fine but sadly no 😞 hope they can help you out and fix it!

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

That sucks. It seems like such a straight forward issue that should be really easily solvable. It's not that complicated! Hopefully a mod can indeed help you!

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Can a mod assist me?

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

ON-TRAC SHIPPING (sorry, this is going to be a long rant, because I definitely have a bone to pick with them)

Missing or wrongly delivered Sephora Rouge Two-Day shipping orders, all courtesy of On-Trac shipping.

Normally, a shipping company's job would be to deliver packages in a relatively undamaged state to the correct address. Not with On-Trac it seems! It just so happens that anything that can go wrong with my packages does with all my Sephora orders.

With On-Track, I've had Sephora several packages:

-delivered to the wrong address (within the same community)

-THROWN at the door instead of placed at the door (the loud, resulting bang scared the bejebus out of me, but I didn't decide to complain about my items were relatively fine that time and I figured maybe the delivery person was pressed for time)

-and packages that simply weren't there even though the tracking says it would be (I know for a fact that these packages weren't 'stolen' from my doorstep, since I'm able to work at home on days I get my packages delivered and my home office is right next to my front door, and I can hear/see when a package is delivered or when someone is at my door)

Another thing with On-Trac is that they NEVER knock or ring the doorbell, so the only way I can tell if my package is here is by checking the tracking or opening the front door.

I've never had any problem with Sephora orders that ship with UPS or USPS and I'm thankful.

But the biggest pet peeve(s) of all is that the missing (ie: not delivered) package happened with my latest order, which I made with the Tom Ford mini lipstick promo code. I was so excited to finally try out the brand and now I can't, since my package is missing (even though tracking says it was delivered Friday morning) and by association, the TF mini is MIA and the promo code item seems to be out of stock online  😕 And also, another pet peeve is that the order was for my HG Belif Essence, which I had run out of and was in dire need of. My skin's not feeling too happy with out the essence and it's broken out in rebellion. I'll have to run to the closest Sephora today, since it's clear the package won't be making its way to me.

I haven't contacted customer service yet because I don't want to deal with that headache yet. And I know I should, so I can at least try to get this problem addressed. Or at the very least, try to make sure that Sephora doesn't ship any of my Rouge Two-Day shipping orders with On-Trac.

I feel that at some point, with On-Trac's shoddy services, there's only so much a Sephora customer service rep can do without me feeling like someone who is complaining to complain, rather than someone who is genuinely having problems with their orders. When I try to reach out to CS, I get the help I need, but I feel like I get an apathetic vibe from the rep (which could totally be my fault for reading the vibes wrong!).

ugh. *sorry for the long post, I'm just really frustrated*

TLDR: pet peeves - On-Trac shipping, missing out on great promo items because they say they're delivered when they aren't (read: not delivered to my address at all), and running out of your HG skin care and having your skin rebel as a result of not having the item you ordered delivered.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Hi Monikay,

I am so sorry to hear about all the issues you've had with our shipping company On-Trac. I'll send you a pm shortly to further assist you with your recent order. 🙂

Cheers!

Wow, that most certainly sounds like a mess. Maybe try tagging a mod on here? I've heard people get better responses on BT

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I used to have a wonderful mailman who would always carefully put packages inside our covered stoop. It wouldn't stop a determined thief, but it would make it so there's no obvious announcement of a package, and would protect against the weather. Unfortunately my new mailman can't be bothered to take the tiny step of opening to stoop door, something that takes seconds to give my purchases great protection.

I always read delivery men horror stories, I guess it was only a matter of time before my luck also ran out.
