A recent thread on global (country specific but not US) got me thinking…do we have American beauty rituals? Are our rituals more specific to family traditions passed down? Is it perhaps the communal nature of our beauty rituals that's different (perhaps not…think of group baths or saunas elsewhere). Thoughts anyone? Thanks!
Hi Beauty Gurus, I have very fair skin (cool with pink undertones) and have a lot of redness on my cheeks. I have very sensitive skin, so even rubbing my moisturizer into my skin in the morning turns most of my face pink for at least a few minutes. Regular concealers don't help much. Does anyone know of either a skin care product that will help reduce redness (and actually works) or a makeup product that can help cover it? Any help is much appreciated!
I am trying to find out how I may attain the "milky white complexion" that many women sport. Is there a cream that I can use to get that complexion. I have heard the term BB cream being mentionned, so I went out and purchased it but found that it didn't work. In addition, apparently women rub this on their body too to achieve the full body milky white complexion. Thanks.
I'm a 22 year old beginning in make up. I only apply a light beigh BB cream on my face and a EOS lip balm to moisturize my lips. My skin tone is a light warm Asian yellow and eyes are brown. The BB cream I wear changes the color of my skin from a light yellow to white almost which I think it's bad but I still wear it because it has SPF in it and is oil free. However, without it my skin is oily everywhere on my face and I have pores everywhere on my face. What are some good oil free products to start my make up kit? I watch too many beauty videos and got inspiration for a natural every day look, to the no make up look, and the neutral/ smokey look for the nights. However for eyeshadow I would like to know great ones that have matte to neutral shades that last a long time. I know that some are highly pigmented. What is a good brand for water proof mascara? As for my skin being oily, do you recommended mineral make up over liquid foundation? Primer for mascara? Bronzer ? What are some great black eyeliner pencils? How about concealer? Pink lipstick that moisturizes and lasts long? What about a color for a smokey look? I apologize for writing so long.
I have combo acne prone skin. I am 41 yrs old with large pores and starting to get fine lines. In winter I get dry rough patches. I thought I'd seen something on sephora or sephora emails about products to help lock in your moisturizer especially at night but can't seem to find the information. I would like a product that will hydrate my skin without making me break out. If anyone can recall the products to help lock in moisturizer please let me know. Thanks
I have oily skin so everything seems to look blotchy. I have tried Kat Von D and loved it but it was photo sensitive so everytime I took a pic i looked very pale. I also tried Urban Decay Skin and it didnt give the full coverage like I had expected. Any other suggestions for full coverage that will not look blotchy and isnt photo sensitive??
Hi everyone, I am planning on placing an order for my birthday. I am planning on getting the UD Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup in the shade 1 (very fair bisque shade with soft warm undertones). I've recently tried this and it seems to be the perfect shade for me. But the question is, which shade of the Naked Skin Complete Coverage Concealer should I get that would work best with the foundation - Fair Neutral or Light Warm? I'm leaning more towards the Fair Neutral because I'm usually the lightest shade of anything. The only reason the Light Warm threw some doubt my way is because I have warm undertones/semi-yellow toned skin. What do you think I should go with?
I have recently purchased the Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo foundation and I absolutely love it! The coverage is perfect and it lasts a long time, however, it is very drying on my face. After an hour or so my t-zone begins to get very dry and sometimes flaky. I moisturize and prime my face with either Too Faced Primed & Poreless or Smashbox Photofinish before I apply the foundation but it still seems to dry me out. I love the product for its coverage and longwearing, but i'm unsure of any options I have left to stop the drying. Any suggestions on primers or alternatives to this foundation? Any other products to keep my skin hydrated but the foundation still lasting long?
Hi, I want to buy the AmorePacific foundation, but I don't know which color should I buy, I currently use Hourglass immaculate Lt. Beige. I don't know if i should buy the almond blush or the alomad gold. Thank you!
My skin is more on the dry/sensitive size with occasional breakouts. Now that I'm 5wks pregnant- the hormones are starting to kick and and my normal products aren't cutting it! Any recommendations on a cleanser that's safe to use while pregnant that's gentle but contains either glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acids? TIA!
Hey ladies! I recently heard of Skin Inc.'s customizable serums and was wondering if anyone had tried them? Mainly I'm wondering if they feel it's worked and worth the $90 price tag and how long the bottles last? For $90, I want to make sure I'm going to get something that might actually work! Thanks!
Is it a good idea to layer Murad C essential eye cream over philosophy miracle eye retinol for a morning retinol routine?? I was thinking of using the murad as an SPF as well as a vitamine C booster for the retinol....Seems like a good idea, but stumbed if the two products would mix well together??? Thank You
I am desperately seeking a self tanner to use mostly on my face in the winter time. I am half African American and half white, and I've never used any self tanning product before..but my skin gets too pale and yellow looking without the sun and I don't want to resort to tanning! I have combination skin with mild acne once a month. Thanks in advance!
I have very very dry skin. I am outside pretty much all day and it does not take much for the florida sun(or even light wind) to burn my skin so I have a LOT of freckles, even with the use of factor 70 suncreen(neutrogena). my skin is constantly dry especially on my nose and around my mouth and tzone. Any suggestions for 1)suncreen 2)moisturiser 3)something to even out the tone in my skin but without being to harsh on sensitive skin! I am seriously desperate at this stage and do not want my skin to be old and haggard in my mid 20s!!! Currently using clinique dry to very dry moisturiser.
been having extremely dry skin so popped into sephora a month ago and grabbed the First Aid Beauty kit that comes with the wash, moistruizer, lip moisturizer and pads... The moisturizer is thick and nice but it's still not enough for my dry skin. I also picked up the philosophy oxygen peel and tried that to get rid of my acne. I have a few pimples here and there, but mostly the small oil bumps. Any other product that would moisturize my skin since this first aid beauty kit doesn't really work.. thinking about the pholosophy "back to nurture " line
Has anyone else noticed that the packaging for the Josie Maran Argan Milk has changed? The bottle originally was clear. I really liked that I could tell how much product was left. The bottle that just came in my order is solid white. Also, the product itself is different. To me, at least. It was a creamy color and now is very white and more difficult to blend in. It's almost like a watered down SPF when I apply. Any thoughts?
My perfect concealer colour is NSA - Urban Decay 24/7 concealer pencil, but i'd like to try Tarte Maracuja creaseless concealer and Kat Von D Lock it tattoo concealer. I have light skin with very yellow undertone, and I need my undereye concealer to be a little mustard-coloured, not really orange. Thank you!
I was looking at so,e beauty blogs and they have tons and tons of recipes for facial mask, peels and cleansers. They even had a recipe with Amazonian clay that was supposed to make a mask just like glam glow. Given that these mask do have acid and ingredients that penetrate and treat your skin I was skeptical on the safety of these DIY mask. I'm scared of fining a wrong recipe and irritating my skin and end up looking like a tomato. Have any of you ladies dared to be brave and tried a DIY mask?
