Sunscreen question...

Hi! I will be spending the summer with my kids around a pool and don't know proper rules with sunscreen. I would like something to apply under makeup but how often will i need to re-apply and how would I apply more while wearing makeup?

Re: Sunscreen question...

Hi StromJ,

Definitely apply your sunscreen about 20 minutes before sun exposure.  I recommend keeping a hat on to protect your face in the sun.  But if you don't plan on doing that, you should be reapplying your SPF every couple hours.

For under makeup, my favorite sunscreens are LANCÔME BIENFAIT UV SPF 50+ Super Fluid Facial Sunscreen, and ALGENIST Ultra Lightweight UV Defense Fluid SPF 50.  Both are thin formulas that absorb quickly and don't leave your face greasy or with a white residue. Also, the Lancome is water-resistant if you plan on swimming or sweating.  To reapply SPF over your makeup, I suggest a powder formula that you can dusk on, like PETER THOMAS ROTH Oily Problem Skin Instant Mineral Powder SPF 30 or 45.

Re: Sunscreen question...

Hi! Some general rules about are that you should apply it every two hours, about 15 minutes before sun exposure, and reapply after swimming or sweating.

If you want a good sunscreen to apply under your makeup, I really like MDSolarSciences Mineral Crème because it doesn't feel greasy.

If you want to reapply your sunscreen over your makeup, you can use a powder sunscreen such as Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral Powder SPF 45.

Hope this helps!
