SPF in bb creams and tinted moisturize rs
I love the clinique bb cream and the nars tinted moisterizer samples I tried. They both have SPF 30.
However, would one of these be enough sun protection for fair skin? I have skin cancer in my family, and also want to prevent early aging. I'm outside about 1-2 hours per day.
If an additional sunscreen product is reccommended, would I layer it over or under the TM/bb cream? And what are some good ones for skin with acne?

Hi saschaec,
These are great products since they do have SPF protection but keep in mind that it is certainly not enough to last all day! You would need to continuously reapply these a few times during the day if you wanted all day protection. I recommend using another SPF based moisturizer underneath, my favorite is the Josie Maran Argan SPF 40 which is a bit stronger in terms of how long you can wear it before needing to reapply, but I would definitely wait until you go outside to apply (or even re-apply) these items for best protection!
Layering your moisturizer/sunscreen UNDER your bb cream or tinted moisturizers would be the best layer of protection against harmful sun rays. Try some of the DDF Ultra Lite sunscreens which are lightweight, have spf protection and are mattifying.

I also HIGHLY recommend the Peter Thomas Roth Mineral Powder Sunscreen which comes in an SPF 30 for oily acne prone skin, or an SPF 45 for regular skin types.

I, too have fair skin and skin cancer runs in my family. I have two go to products that I can't live without:
1. L'Occitane Immortelle Brightening Shield spf 40.- This super lightweight serum not only protects your skin with spf 40, but also has brightening and anti-aging ingredients to prevent and protect you from future damage. A staple in my makeup bag wherever I go!!
2. Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection SPF 40- Another lightweight serum sunscreen that doesn't feel heavy. The scent is great too!
You will love either one. I'm so glad I've found them-you will too!! I suggest using them over your moisturizer, or mixed in with it.

I have used both Clinique (which was just returned) and Smashbox BB Cream which has an SPF of 35. I ablsolutely love the SB BB compared to Clinique's. I actually mix mine with a small amount of the Nars Illuminator in Cocacabana to add the "Illuminitating Glow" becuase I prefer minimal amount of product, but have terriffic coverage. I found it with that combo.
I'm not sure if you use a Primer, but Smashbox makes an anti-aging with Spf of 15. It's called
Photo Finish Foundation Primer SPF 15 With Dermaxyl Complex, and best of all, they have a travel size so you can try it before purchasing a full size tube if you like
The SB Primers is what brought me to Sephora to start with, and needless to say, I order weekly or more!
On to your next question....you're skin sounds like mine....I came across a few different Peter Thomas Roth suncreens. First came across:
Uber-Dry Sunscreen SPF 30- it has great reviews and is not pore-clogging for oily and acne prone people ( I always read the Q & As and reviews) This is very popular. Another kind he has is Clini-Matte All Day Oil-Control SPF 20- it's a little pricier, but it's also an oil-controller. He offers an Age Defense Kit whitch contains a trial of his Retinol Fusion pm, but also a trial of the Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Cream SPF 30.
I'm not sure of your skincare regimen, if you have any SPF in your moiturizer? so I'm just passing onto to you information that I have gathered for myself.
I hope this info helps ![]()

Ole Henriksen's Protect The Truth™ SPF 50+ Sunscreen is great too. It has spf 50, is light weight, and oil free. The sunscreen also contains Vitamins A & E and helps boost skin repair.
