Low shine lip gloss?

This may seem like a bizarre question but, as I get a little older, I am trying to move away from the high shine lip color look - but I still love sheer color. Are there any low-shine glosses out there? Dare I say "Matte" gloss? Crazy, I know. Any help appreciated!

Hi Sosomoto,

I know what you mean! I think you want more of a natural looking shine. Have you ever tried lipgloss pencils? I suggest the Nars Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil. It has a high amount of pigment while giving your lips a subtle shine.

Korres all the way! They also smell delicious & have cute little tubs. Clinique Chubby sticks are are more colored, but still sheer with a balmy finish.

I know exactly what you mean! I love a little lip color and such, but I'm not crazy about shiny, mirror like looks (at least not for myself!). Lately I have been using Bite lip gloss, it offers very sheer soft shine, it's hydrating and great for pairing with a lipstain or to soften up a harsher matte lip stick.

I also agree with the suggestion for Korres lip glazes. It offers soft color and gives the "moist" look, without being too glossy

I know exactly what you mean. I recently discovered the Korres Lip Butter Glaze and I think it's exactly what you're looking for it. It's a sheer gloss without the glossiness! I have the shade "raspberry" and it's a sheer light purple/red.

Hi sosomoto,

Try also the Clinique Super Balms which are hydrating and smooth (not sticky!) and shimmer free, but have a very low key and muted color:

Yes there are, and I know what you meant. I went through a blindingly glossy/glassy lip phase and settled down into a moist looking lip phase (same shine as right after you lick your lips or ate something a bit oily).

Look for gloss with a lip balm/stick form rather than the normal liquid/gooey texture such as these:

Or you can look into tinted lip balms. Or, just use your favorite lip color in pencil or stick form, then dab a tiny dot of gloss in the middle andrub your lips together, which gives it a shine without being lip gloss-y.

I would recommend the YSL lip stains or the YSL Volupte'

Sheer Candy glossy balm crystal color, even though they say glossy they're sublte and very hydrating.Hope this helps!
