Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Think of sebaceous hyperplasia as you would a mole. They really aren't clogged oil glands, they are growths of sebaceous oil glands.  Just like moles, there is no preventative treatment to keep them from growing.  Removing them is difficult at best and requires a procedure.  It used to be a light electric cautery and scraping (ED & C) before lasers came on the scene.  The use of a prescription retinoid may or may not make a difference but has been suggested.

What are the best ways to refine pores?

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

While you cannot change the actual size of the pores you're born with you can most definitely improve and minimize their appearance.

Pores become choked with dead skin cells, make-up, skin oils and pollutants.  As this occurs, they get stretched (imagine stretching a rubber band).  At the same time, the same collagen fibers that disintegrate with the aging process and cause wrinkles also exaggerate the appearance of pores.  Dermal collagen helps squeeze the pores closed from below the surface of the skin. Less collagen means pores can become lax and "flop open".

So to answer your question I recommend using a product that addresses the actual events that contribute to the appearance of enlarged pores.  Try applying Picture Porefect twice a day.

I would also recommend using Physical Chemistry 2-3 nights per week.

If you are noticing other signs of skin aging, I would recommend Kakadu C serum every morning. You can follow it with the Picture Porfect.  In the evening, the Picture Porfect can be worn solo.

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi, I believe I suffer from rosacea, red bumps all over my tzone area 😞 is there anything i can do? Thank you so much!

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

I believe you would love our Calm Cool & Corrected Tranquility Cream. It can help soothe the feel and appearance of skin affected by rosacea.  Our brand new Calm Cool & Corrected Medicated Cleanser makes a wonderful companion for helping with redness, flaking and irritation.

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

For someone who is new to the Dermadoctor skin care line, what would you suggest as a starter product?  Thanks!

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

For the body, I would absolutely recommend KP Duty Body Scrub. There's a reason it's been a top seller at Sephora after all these years!  For the face, everyone loves a great eye cream.  Wrinkle Revenge Eye Balm is ideal for use twice a day and can be used 360 around the eyes including the upper eye lids.

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi Everyone!  So thrilled to be here with you today!  I am looking forward to all your questions!!!

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hello ladies !

Just as I was on my way to sephora to pick up some of your products, I seen this live chat ! How perfect! I am looking for a full line of skin care that will help with my, as of lately, troublesome skin. I am 25 and still dealing with hormonal acne. I do have hyper pigmentation along with texture on my skin. I get those little bumps under my skin that drives me crazy. I am usually combination to oily though as of lately I seem to be more on the dry side. I do have somewhat sensitive skin but when I have used your products in the past I never had a problem. What would be the best skincare routine for me with your products? Thanks ! 🙂

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

So glad this worked out for you!  I would recommend using Ain't Misbehavin' Medicated AHA/BHA Acne Cleaner twice daily followed by Ain't Misbehavin' Acne Serum.  For any dryness, you can layer Calm Cool & Corrected which is ideal for someone struggling with sensitive skin and hormonal acne.  You can also finish your morning routine with our DD Cream which is light weight, adjusts to your skin tone and has a broad spectrum SPF 30.

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi! What is the best way to take care of and control hormonal acne? I get acne near my mouth and on my jawline and it takes over a week for it to go away.

Also which eye cream would you recommend? I have dark under eye circles and some creasing and fine lines under my eyes.

Thanks!!

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Think you would really benefit from using Ain't Misbehavin' Medicated AHA/BHA Acne Cleanser followed by Ain't Misbehavin' Serum and Calm Cool & Corrected.  The ideal trio for your concern.  As for an eye cream, consider Wrinkle Revenge Eye Balm twice daily. It can be used twice daily and is approved for use 360 around the eyes including the upper lids.

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hey I'm Megan I have acne & red bumps and marks all over my face. what products should I use?

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi Megan!  Here's the good news - red discoloration can fade once the acne is cleared up.  Try our Ain't Misbehavin' Medicated AHA/BHA Acne Cleanser and Acne Serum twice a day.  It takes approximately 6-8 week to see significant improvement in acne, regardless of what treatments you being (rx or otc).  If at that time the acne is improving, continue on. Continue what you are doing for about 3 months then you can try weaning yourself off. It is impossible to know if one has to remain on full treatment or can get away with once a day, every other day, etc. until you try.  Should there be  flare-up, return to twice a day use.

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hello my name is Mackenzie and I have insanely dry skin. I have tried so many moisturizers and they are either not strong enough or break my face out or burn. I have super sensitive skin as well. I also have occasional breakouts so nothing that will clog my pores! Thank you!!!

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi Mackenzie!  Super dry skin can be tough because once it's irritated, almost anything can be uncomfortable when applied to the skin. I would recommend layering Wrinkle Revenge Ultimate Hyaluronic Serum followed by Calm Cool & Corrected. This should be a wonderfully skin quenching, soothing and wonderful combo for  you to use. They shouldn't cause acne flare-ups or plug your pores, either.

Hi doctor, i have really bad acne all over my face that just won't go away. What are some good ways to clear up my face?

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Consider trying Ain't Misbehavin' Medicated AHA/BHA Acne Cleanser and Acne Serum twice a day.  It will take approximately 6-8 weeks to see significant improvement which is typical of any new acne regimen.

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Is KP Duty safe to use on a moderate eczema flare up? My nine year old has been skipping moisturizer and the eczema was bad before I noticed it. I want to apply some KP, because he also has symptoms of that. He has an eczema script and we are using my beloved Egyptian Magic as well. Going to take him to see a dermatologist if I do not see improvement in a few days.
