Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi Kate! I just started using your Oil Free Moisturizer. AMAZING! Truly it is the first moisturizer that hasn't made me breakout or become greasy. I have acne (both cystic and non) prone, oily, sensitive, and rosacea type skin. Ha! The worst combo ever. I'm in my 30's and want to start using retinol. Can you recommend a good product? I tried prescription Tretinoin .05 % and it did wonders but was a bit too strong so I was looking for a retinol that could give me some good results. Thank you so much!

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi hageli, I have the perfect solution for you! We just launched DermalQuench + Retinol which will address all your concerns. And for your rosacea, while it's not specifically formulated rosacea, my Eczema Cream could help treat the redness and is okay for use on the face. xo, Kate

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi Kate! I turned 48 in October and have good skin considering. However, I have noticed several areas where dark spots (age spots?) or hyperpigmentation have developed. Do you have any recommendations on how to lighten them or eliminate them completely?

Thank you ... and thank you for visiting Beauty Talk!

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi Lara, Have you tried my Mega-C Dual Radiance Serum? It helps to reduce the appearance of discoloration and improves radiance and skin firmness. xo, Kate

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

I've recently started using an oil cleanser, micellar water, tea trea oil and an oil moisturizer and i love it. I'm 34 have very small minimal signs of aging. I have normal to oily skin so my oil moisturizer is an all natural anti aging oil. My problem is that my skin is getting slightly dry. I think it's from the cleanser since it has mineral oil in it. Is that the problem and can you recommend one that doesn't use mineral oil in it?

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi Kate!

I really appreciate your skin care products (I followed your advice last year and started using your RetA-Sphere lotion along with D-Scar to help with some of my facial acne scars. They're helped tremendously!

I have some residual discoloration on my back from back acne from previous years (the acne is gone now), and I was wondering if you could recommend any products to alleviate that? RetA-sphere for the back would be rather expensive given the surface area, I think....?

Thank you for your time!

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi Kate -

Thanks for joining us - I love your products especially the gentle cleansing wash + EradiKate. I have issues with some dry patches on the skin - what moisturizer would you recommend?

Thank you!!

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi shirleylin88, Try Nourish Daily Moisturizer or if you're experience breakouts then I recommend my Oil Free Moisturizer to treat dry patches. xo, Kate

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi Kate!

I've heard incredible things about your products & have even tested out a few. I'm bi-racial (African + Caucasian), in my mid-30s and have been dealing with acne for most of life starting in my teenage years. Recently, I've noticed increasing "cystic" acne that leaves little bumps for days, sometimes weeks, particularly on my chin & the sides of my mouth. The acne will eventually leave scars and then the cycle starts all over again. On top of that I have rather oily, sensitive skin.

My dermatologist has prescribed an antibiotic for the past 3-4 years (doesn't always help), but as of November 2015 I stopped taking it as I don't want to have to rely on that for the rest of my life. Is there a routine you believe could work, based on the information I've provided?

Sincerely,

Forever Grateful If This Works!

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi, Kate. Thanks for being at the chat. Can you please recommend what's the time limit between using an AHA exfoliant and following it up with your new Retinol product?

Thanks!

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi Saundi, over exfoliation can be harmful for the skin so I always tell my clients to alternate using their AHA product with retinol every other night. xo, Kate

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi Kate, thanks for joining us here today! As a long time devotee of your Exfolikate I'm so excited that you are here to chat with us today. 😄

As you may be very well aware, more than a handful of beauty-related websites and bloggers provide reviews of skincare items, and some of these "professional" beauty-related websites rate/review skincare items almost solely based on their ingredients. And these ratings don't always correspond with the popularity of your items.

So with that in mind, how do you deal with these reviews? Do these reviews affect the process of how you formulate/reformulate your products? Or do they not play any role at all? Thanks so much for your time!! ❤️

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi NarNarNars, thank you for your question! I am so happy to hear from anyone who tries my product. I develop my products with particular skin concerns in mind using the latest active ingredients combined with soothing botanicals for optimum performance but everyone has their own preference. If we were to ever receive a large number of reviews that were less that positive I would certainly ensure that we review the formula to see how we could improve it. xo, Kate

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi Kate, thanks for engaging with us!

I have started to notice thin, shallow lines around my eyes. Do you have any recommendation for eye products that would keep the under-eye area hydrated and 'plump'? i am 30 and have combination skin.

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi TriesToBoClassy! I recommend my Line Release Undereye Repair Cream which helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and offers the perfect amount of hydration for someone in their 30s. xo, Kate

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

What is the ideal daily routine for someone in their mid 20s?

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi bernh22a,

My 3 essentials for all my clients regardless of age and skin type is exfoliate, boost and moisturize. For your particular age range I recommend ExfoliKate Intensive, DermalQuench Liquid Lift and Oil Free Moisturizer to help keep your skin young and healthy looking. These are my gamechangers. xo, Kate

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi kate-- I need something I can spot treat acne that is under the skin, and hurts.  The pink sulpher stuff doesn't help spots like the ones I get, usually on my chin.

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi makeupobsessed,

My DermalQuench Clear is my secret weapon for those pesky under the skin breakouts that hurt. Spray it on fingertips first then apply to affected area up to three times a day. This is my acne fighting powerhouse.  xo, Kate

Re: Live Chat with Kate Somerville and DERMAdoctor!

Hi Kate, Thank you for taking the time to answer some questions! I am in love with your oil-free moisturizer - that is one of my favorite products!

Anyway, what product do you recommend to combat fine lines around the eyes, is there a specific retinol product for eyes?

Thank you again!
