Good Skincare Regimen for Combination Skin

I have very extreme combination skin, super dry and flaky on my cheeks and extremely oily on my nose chin and forehead. I use retinol to combat my acne, but my skin is left dry in someplaces, and oily in others. Is there a moisturizer, toner, face wash and tinted moisturizer that I could use to even out my skin?

I have had the same problem. I had dry skin from swimming, red marks from goggles, and acne from makeup in attempt to cover it all. My skin was very pale, so all the redness was extremely obvious and looked horrible. My skin is the best I have seen it in a long time. I use Philosophy's purity made simple facewash, it gets all the gunky makeup off and is also very moisturizing, but doesnt clog pores. After washing your face, use an oil free eye makeup remover to get rid of eye makeup, and rinse face to get off any excess product. I apply an oil free facial moisturizer I get from walmart (it doesnt really matter what kind). Then apply your acne product, I recomend bareMinerals blemish treatment, or a fast working gel like Clearasil, or Murad, or something like that. Mineral products are best with sulfur. Any other good product uses either salilic acid or benzol peroxide to fight acne. Also, don't trust acne fighting foundation, it just clogs up pores more and makes you dry. I recomend concealer to cover any acne or redness under bareEssentials foundation, blush, etc. You can also use their primer (not oil free, trust me) and it wont break you out.

You would really benefit from the NARS hydrating freshening lotion- it's a mild exfoliator perfect to use if you're on a retinol regimen and you want to get rid of flaking skin... It's water and citrus based so it will help to remove the dead skin your retinol is producing, without irritating you further.

Have you tried Origins Checks and Balance cleanser, and United States toner? both are targetted specifically toward combination skin to help balance the dry/oily part. As for moisturizers, I just apply a light/thin layer over forehead and nose and rub it in well on the cheeks. For make up, I usually just use normal TM and finishing off with a dust of matte powder on the T zone.

Hi there Allegrap,

I answered a similar question to yours here:

As for a tinted moisturizer I would suggest an oil free BB cream that will even out your skin tone and keep it soft and hydrated in both the oily and dry flaky spots. Try the Dr. Jart Water Fuse Beauty Balm which is hydrating and light

Dr. Jart+ - Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 PA++

Or the Boscia BB Cream with SPF 27 which is also lightweight and great for sensitive skin types or acne prone types:

Boscia - B.B. Cream SPF 27 PA++
