What would you recommend for hyperpigmentation and what type of skin care routine should I be doing for that type of issue?

I am 13 and have several bags under each eye, I cover them up with makeup so you can not notice.  But is there any way to make them go away?  They are light, and them have vans running through them, because of my very fair complextion.

What is the best homemade way to clear acne?  Please list any ways that do not include washing your face.  Are there any homemade remedies that work?

I have Rosacea and I currently use Metrogel to treat. I am 33 and would like to start using anti-aging products but I don't know what exactly is right/not right for my skin. I would also like to reduce my redness and the flakiness on my cheeks. I want to cover up the redness, but makeup just puts a spotlight on the flakiness. Please help!

Hi muzby,

Flakiness indicates inflammation so I would go one step at a time.
The Hydra-Pure® Firming Serum and Active Vitamin D Serum-Oil are great solutions for you. They will soothe your skin and combat aging.

Re: EXPERT SKINCARE Q&A

The see a lot of questions about acne and scarring and wanted to address this and tell you about the idea for Trifix Acne Clearing Lotion.  It came from a blatant vacuum in the market.  There was no product to tackle all three causes of acne simultaneously.

You must; 1. Kill Bacteria, 2. Clear Pores, 3. maintain skin's balance and avoid overdrying.

In my practice, I would say that 50% of men and women suffer from adult acne while women may be more prone to scarring.  I wanted to provide my patients with a natural solution that worked.  I have been thrilled with the results – 4 out of 5 patients tested reported immediate results in 24 hours.

Trifix™ treats acne, heals blemishes, repairs scarring, reduces redness, and provides antioxidants, peptides and collagen boosters to prevent fine lines and collagen breakdown.  I included Bisabolol and marine botanicals to soothe and gently protect the skin.  Organic Aloe moisturizes while providing a natural protective shield.

I have areas of hyperpigmentation on the back of my right lower leg from laser hair removal. What would be the more effective and quickest way to make these areas return to normal? I have been using 12% glycolic acid, 4% hydroquinoine, BioOil, and have also tried Mederma. There seems to be minmal improvement and most products for hyperpigmentation seem to be intended at age spots.

Hi,

In response to your sunscreen tip, how high of SPF do we need if we just have an office job and only exposed to the sun for ~3hr total during the day? is SPF15 moisturizer enough or do we really need SPF30?

Lastly, I'm in my 20s, rare acne, small dark spot and eye wrinkle only when I smile. What kind of regimen is good? and do I really need all the special products like serum and masks?

Thanks!

Research shows that a substantial amount of premature aging comes from incidental sun exposure when we’re unaware of it – such as when we’re out shopping or even grabbing lunch. Wearing sunscreen every day will help to prevent the signs of premature aging. Get in the habit of wearing sunscreen with and SPF 15 or higher EVERY DAY, even in the winter and even when you are not planning to spend a lot of time outdoors.

The Alpha Beta peel will combat your occasional acne, fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.  Its good for all ages and skin types-you are never too young to start using it.

Should I apply moisturizer after a treatment?

Yes, treatments, such as the Alpha Beta Peel, do not replace a moisturizer so be sure not to skip this important step. Cleanse, Treat, Moisturize, Protect are the four steps that should be in your everyday routine.

I'd like to offer another tip:

My career began as cancer research specialist -and Safeguarding your skin against the sun is the single most important thing you can do for your skin’s health and appearance. A classic error in sunscreen application is not using enough- to be truly protected we need to use a lot of sunscreen – about 2-4 ounces to cover your face and body depending on your size. Reapply every 3-4 hours and immediately after heavy perspiration or swimming.

I am 40 and have begun worrying about hyperpgmentation, enlarged pores and wrinkles.  My question is this - is there a danger to layering too many treatments?  For example, should you use a pigment corrective, a wrinkle/firming treatment, and a moisturizer at the same time?

Hi, there is no danger to layering treatments.  As mentioned in an earlier response, Healthy beautiful skin does not come from 1 product or ingredient.  You must incorporate 4 steps into your everyday routine.  I formulated my products to be multi-tasking because I know everyone is busy but you should; Cleanse, Treat, Moisturize & Protect.

The Extra Strength Alpha Beta Peel can help with all of your concerns-hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores and wrinkles.

I think that the Q&A is done, but in case not . . .  if I'm layering product, would  I use a serum / Vitamin D first and then the Trifix treatment, or use the targeted acne treatment first, then serum then moisturiser?  Thank you, love the Alpha Beta Peel (and other products, too, of course)!

Hi misswiss,

The four steps I recommend for your everyday beauty routine are: Cleanse, Treat, Moisturize & Protect.
So to answer your question you should use your  Alpha Beta® Peel, then apply the Active Vitamin D Serum Oil, then Trifix™ Acne Clearing Lotion followed by a Moisturizer.  If your skin is oily or acneic I recommend the Trifix™ Oil Free Moisturizer.

Dr. Dennis Gross,

Could you recommend other products of yours to use after the All in One Cleanser with Toner? I have teeny tiny black heads in the creases of my nose and can't get them to go away!! I am also moisturizer obsessed. Any good suggestions?

Hi. I am so pleased to hear that you are using the All In One Cleanser with Toner.

To combat blackheads I would suggest the All Over Blemish Solution. It will minimize pores and work to eliminate and prevent blackheads. It will also help control oil and shine.

For moisturizer-Trifix™ Oil-Free Moisturizer would be great for your skin concerns.  It’s a fast absorbing oil-free formula that targets blackheads, clogged pores, and soothes irritation while also working to nourish and quench skin. When formulating Trifix™ I created a blend of antioxidants, natural extracts, marine botanicals, minerals and vitamins to reduce redness and inflammation too.

Dr. Gross,

I am extremely fond of your extra strength alpha beta peel and I can’t begin to express, how much I appreciate this product’s results! I must inquire what treatment do you suggest for expression lines around the mouth?
