I have recently been on the hunt for a new foundation but i am running into a problem with every single one whether it be Chanel down to drugstore brand. When i apply my makeup it looks flawless but an hour later i feel cakey and dry but yet i look oily too. I cannot ind one that just looks cleanand natural on my face. i have tried Smashbox, MAC, Chanel, revlon, Neutrogena..no matter what i do i get the same effect. the only yhting that doesnt do this to me is a BB Cream but i want better coverage with also a better color match than what a BB cream gives. What am i doing wrong? I apply with fingers or Beauty Blender. I try with and wihtout primer.with and wothout moisturizer. I have treid ones for oily skin, dry skin, combo skin, water base, oil case...i am at a loss.. any advice? thank you so much for your time!

How about a primer? The best primer evah is Hourglass Mineral Veil. You could always get a sample of it at Sephora. Also, do you exfoliate? I find that makeup looks so much fresher when I exfoliate regularly. ![]()

I had the same problem as you! My face would get both dry and oily, yet most foundations are for one or the other. I was recommended to try First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream as a daily mositurizer for a few days and noticed better skin! It helped decrease my oiliness, redness, and especially DRYNESS! Then after that dries, I applied Laura Mercier's Hydrating Face Primer which keeps the oil and dryness away. I was having trouble finding the right foundation... I searched youtube reviews for the best-selling products on Sephora's website and found my match: Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. I was hesitant at first because usually anything "sheer" just makes you look oily. But I PROMISE you that it really doesn't! If you use the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream after washing your face, followed by the Laura Mercier Hydrating Primer, the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation should work perfectly for you. It did wonders for me! I hope this helps
ALSO, avoid makeup foundations and primers that are silicone based, because that will make your skin a disaster, especially if you have dry skin problems.

Its funny because i read reviews and watched you tube videos on the Sheer glow for a month trying to decide and of course those few bad reviews always makes you doubt but i will for sure try this out now. And i actually have tried the First Aid on my body but never on my face so that is what i will do. Thank you so much for your help you have no idea how much i appreciate it because its something i never see talked about. Your an angel! thankyou.... Another quick question in case you see this... I have the Giorgio Armani Silk Foundation in the mail... Do you know anyhting about that?

No problem!
As for the Giorgio Armani Silk Foundation, I have never personally tried it but my cousin, who has the same face issues as us, uses it and it works pretty good for her! And to comment on the response above, the Hourglass line works VERY WELL. When I went on vacation a few years ago, I went to a mall in another state and visited the Sephora there and was recommended to use Hourglass foundation because it actually helps restore your skin as well as cover it fully. The Sephora store near me does not carry this brand unfortunately and I'm not huge on online shopping, so once I ran out of the Hourglass, I just looked up some other excellent foundations and wounded up with Nars. The Hourglass line is one of the most expensive products in Sephora but like the responder above said, see if you can get a sample to try! ![]()
