Blue Based Reds

I love red lipstick!! I was told with my skin tone I ought to wear Blue based Red lipsticks. I have no idea what that means nor where to look. I mainly use matte lipsticks but any advice will do. Thanks!!

Hi Ohmyjinkies,

Blue based reds tend to have a cooler undertone to it rather than an orange/pink tone. You can tell if a lipstick has a blue based red by applying a swipe of the lipstick on your hand. If it is blue based you will see the border of the color turn a slight blue tone. I suggest the following red lipsticks that all have a blue base to them

Illamasqua Lipstick 

COLOR Maneater - matte classic red

COLOR Box - matte deep scarlet red

Smashbox Be Legendary

COLOR Infrared Matte - matte true red

Also, use a clear lip liner like the Too Faced Borderline Smoothing, Anti-Feathering Lip Pencil to prevent the lipstick from bleeding.
