Beauty Q&A with Francois Nars

Can you give the non lipstick wearer some tips and colors to get started?  Do you need to use lip liner?  I have very full lips but narrow, vertically full but horizontally challenged, a cupids bow instead of a long bow if that makes sense.  anyway, i always feel clownish wearing lipstick, but have always lusted after those bold pinup looks.  How do you find the perfect red?  lastly, part of my lower lip is not naturally colored, but is still clearly lip tissue.  It extends past my upper lip, do I color this or not?  Your products have brought be from the non makeup wearer to the everyday wearer so I can't wait to dip my toes into this last gap in my makeup bag.

P.S. I love the artistry sessions, I've learned so much from them, how about some on normal people?  Beauty solution sessions such as how to lift an eye or contour a puffy face, etc.

What is the most cost efficient way to begin a collection of quality make up to be used for professional purposes (exclusively weddings) ?

I'm on Twitter looking at @glamour_fashion (10/09/2012).  If you look at the red lip in the picture it looks as though the model is wearing NARS heat wave lipstick.  I'm looking at the area just around the lip.  In many pictures foundation has been added to the skin....and it's obvious.  I love that it looks as though she washed her face, added moisturizer, and put on Heat Wave.  What is the trick?  What do you think they did to get this look.  I love it!  I'm not sure I want to be forced into adding foundation in order to wear a red lip and make it look right.  I'd love to hear what you think.

Hello Francois! I wanted to get some new ideas for eye shadow colors to try. I have brown eyes and I normally go for purple colors, but I want to try something new and fashion forward. What are your suggestions for a brown-eyed girl? It's a brown eye girl thing ;3

I received a sample of  your Narskin Skincare line and love a number of the products, especially the Optimum Brightening Concentrate.   Unfortunately I am on a limited budget, are there any of these products you consider a must-have or can't live without?

On a related note, what is the order of application? brightening concetrate, primer, tinted moisturiser, powder?

Hi Francois,  I have noticed a number of people have problems with the glitter in the new Debbie Harry pallet, do you have any advice about how to apply these eyeshadows without making your face a disco ball?  i.e. keeping the glitter from falling off your eyes and onto your cheeks.  I have also had this problem with other shadows, especially the ones with the particles, are these primer only shadows?

What's the true way to apply bronzer?  I've bought a Nars bronzer and hardly used it because I don't want to apply it everywhere..  I was under the assumption that in summer it wasn't needed, but then I was told wrong?  HELP?!?!?!

so, i was just wondering what nars foundation and shade would you recommend for someone with dry skin with no blemishes, just some redness and discoloration? I'm looking for a new foundation/tinted moisturizer and NARS is pretty much the best brand ever, so naturally I would turn to them for a great product. :smileywink:

Pore care!

Hi!

I'm working in the kitchen and because of exposing my face long time in front of grill, and fryer etc,

my facial skin and blackhead are getting worse!

How can I protect my skin at work?

What kind of product should I use?

Thank you :smileyhappy:

Mr.NARS,

I love your makeup!!! My question is, how do I create a easy smokey eye look thats everyday appropriate? I have brown eyes with a ring of green around them, light brown hair, and light skin that turns fair in the winter. What colors would work best for me for a smokey eye look? Thank you for your time!!

Re: Beauty Q&A with Francois Nars

I'm pretty much worthless with blushes, but do you have a foolproof color that makes me look like I put effort into it without any effort? :smileytongue:

Merci beaucoup ♥

Re: Beauty Q&A with Francois Nars

This is a question relating to colors:

When working with colors, I think keeping the balance of colors is very important. I want a striking, unique, bold combination of colors but at the same time, I understand the colors may clash with each other if I am not careful.

What is the key in picking colors that go together well? I know complementary colors are known to make striking combinations, but when doing make up, I don't want to be tied down to only using two colors, or only to complementary colors. I would very much appreciate your advice.

Thank you.

Hi!  I am excited that Sephora has brought focus to NARS!  I'm trying to find interesting day makeup without looking to over the top.  It's easy to apply the same makeup day in and day out.  I need casual but creative looks.  I have a difficult time with foundations.  I need them to look like my own skin.  I seem to be between fair and the next shade up. I have fair/neutral skin and dark brown hair and eyes.  I am betweem 24- 35.

Re: Beauty Q&A with Francois Nars

Hello! I know you do a lot of work backstage at Fashion Week. How do you decide what beauty look is going to work for the show? Do you try to pair the makeup to the runway design, to the models’ features, or just what you feel will be the beauty trend that next season?

I have really deep set eyes (crease doesn't show at all when looking forward). Any tips for making my eyes show up more? Hair color strawberry blonde, eyes hazel, pale skin. Long past teenager-hood! lol

My upper lid crease is relatively darker in pigmentation (I'm fair.). Thanks, Francois.

I use Bare Minerals foundation. How would I incorporate your illuminizer? Before, or after foundation?
