Thank you @meganlisa! I'm going to show my mom all of this so hopefully she'll finally stop lusting after skincare tools and get on board with a good skincare regimen.

@pinyo A good skin care regime (IMO) is better than the tools.  Less likely to do damage as well!

@pinyo, I'm not sure why your mom seems convinced that skincare tools are the way to deal with "old and wrinkly" and sallow skin.

I also have super sensitive skin, which I found out last year has worsened because of an autoimmune form of contact dermatitis that reacts to metals and some preservatives. As a result of all this, I slowly introduce skincare items into my routine.

I'm a couple years shy of turning 60. I know I have good genes (and good eating/environment also help) but I think now I'm just starting to see wrinkles that most people seem to get at a much younger age (not including laugh lines, which I consider to be beautiful at any age). But I think that overall, despite my skin sensitivity issues, that my skin looks better than it did when I was younger (with all my crazy hormones intact, of course).

Here are some things that I've found -- and that may help those who are younger and struggling with controlling spending, especially on lots of skincare related stuff.

Don't bother with the plastic surgery, Botox and other nonsense. No offense to those who think they need this, but those who get these procedures aren't fooling anybody one bit. In fact, so many people (especially celebrities) are getting this stuff done that it looks like there's a new human race sub-species with weirdly buffed out smooth features. The eye isn't fooled -- that's why we all stare at the older stars (even those who stridently claim they've gotten nothing done) because our subconscious detects the discrepancies between real age and forced rebirth.

Less is more. Don't stress if you skip your skincare tonight (just don't sleep with makeup on), don't worry if you can only handle using retinal a couple times a month, etc. Try to not wear makeup that often, like on weekends or times when you're more casual; try a more simple look with the very minimal stuff needed.

When your skin is drier, especially when you're older, skip the morning cleansing unless you're going to be wearing makeup.

Wear sunscreen. Get more serious skin issues treated by a dermatologist instead of trying to solve them yourself with store-bought items.

Adapt to changes your skin, hair and body are going through and continue to go through. When your skin gets more wrinkled and saggy, adjust your makeup as needed to accentuate your best facial features. When your hair gets thinner or more curly or more gray, get a different hairstyle. Wear clothes that make you feel good, but be sure you have the body and confidence to pull off wearing anything that you wore the last time it was in style.

Smile and laugh as much as you can stand it. Keep positive people in your life as much as you can and recognize and embrace the goodness in loved ones and in nature and internally.

Wow! Thank you @DiVWA for your thorough insight! I'm really gonna try to push my to stay away from the skincare tools and try more skincare instead.

I think showing her this thread will give the opinion more validity since I'm sure it's more believable when similarly aged people advocate for it.

Thank you!

I like the Luna oil (exfoliating) and Marula oil (moisturizing). I take Super Primrose oil pills. My skin is baby soft.

She might also want to try washing her face with an oil.  Right now I am using JM but I use it in the shower with water like a regular cleanser.  Then I gently pat dry my face dry as to leave a little oil behind.  I also have combo skin.  This also makes my skin baby soft and glowing.

Clarisonic is not for sensitive skin.

Other than that I suggest professional treatments. I don't really believe that skin care products treat skin other than clean, exfoliate, moisturize or SPF.

Botox for wrinkles and microdermabrasion to help the sallow appearance. Or, even one of the stronger peels. Check out Real Self site for suggestions.

Thank you @wheeeee @ajf1 @luvgloss13! I'm going to have to look into all your suggestions. Im not sure why, but my mom is insistent that a clarisonic is good even though I told her my research says that it's pretty harsh. She said she's been looking at the smart profile one that's meant for sensitive skin?

Im pretty sure her skincare is lacking, but when I've bought her stuff she just lets it sit or forces me to return it lol. She's often scared it'll make her skin worse since she's tried different things that come highly recommended, but she always breaks out into a bad rash.

pretty sure my mom is a closet bubble child lol

I recommend looking into the nuface or clarisonic opal. I love my opal and got my mom the nuface for Christmas last year. The opal is targeted for the eye area. The nuface is more expensive but works on multiple areas. There is a mini version with just the two large silver balls or the full size version that comes with the two large silver balls but other heads are available that are more targeted. Hope that helps. Good luck on your search!

Re: All about Luxury skincare! Come in and chat about your skincare, treatments, tools and products

@pinyo,  Does she use good skincare already?

I would not do the clarsonic as it is a deep cleansing tool and does nothing for sallow or lines and wrinkles.

How about good serums and creams first? or did she say she really wanted a skincare tool?

How about a treatment at a medspa? Smiley Happy

Re: All about Luxury skincare! Come in and chat about your skincare, treatments, tools and products

Ugh. I hate my impulse buys! I caved and bought the full sized U.F.O. I didn't see any negative effects from using it, and I already have BHA in my routine, so I figured, why not?

@dioraddict thank you for your SA's info from Nordstrom! She was very sweet, but unfortunately they are out of the Odacite serums I wanted (Jo+L and Pa+G) so I didn't go ahead and purchase anything.

The UFO has jojoba seed oil in it (although at the end of the list) and black cumin oil... I still have my C booster from Paula's Choice that I need to use up, after that, I will probably buy Pa+G!

Which Nordstrom sell the Odacite in store?

Where can I get samples?

Can I get the SA info?

The Nordstrom in Vancouver and Ottawa sell Odacite in Canada. I don't know about the US.

Re: All about Luxury skincare! Come in and chat about your skincare, treatments, tools and products

weee i got the full size UFO oil too. except it wasn't impulse and i really like it! I have combination/acne prone skin so I'm happy that it works.

Re: All about Luxury skincare! Come in and chat about your skincare, treatments, tools and products

@k617  I heard from A too about Pa+G when I went to get my BI+C. So she ordered my Pa+G and ship to me, and I got the gwp. Probably she will text u tomorow about it, since I was there until store closure Smiley Happy

Thanks @dioraddict, she did call this afternoon and I went ahead and ordered Jo+L and Pa+G from her. It's coming from Ottawa I think but she will send me the GWP Smiley Very Happy I have been rationing the last few drops of my Jo+L. I do like applying this directly to the areas of my face very prone to congestion, whereas I'm using the UFO all over. Looking forward to trying the Gt+L too!

She is super nice and I really appreciate your telling me her info!

Re: All about Luxury skincare! Come in and chat about your skincare, treatments, tools and products

@k617 - Yayyy, my Pa+G shipped too but I cant see the UPS tracking yet. Happy that you got your items too and the GWP Smiley Very Happy

Hi everyone. I think this would be  the best place to ask your input on may Lindstrom skincare line..... I have oily combo skin with breakouts under control.my skin is a tad oilier in summer. I am thinking to try the honey mud, jasmin garden and problem solver after reading blogs etc.  Anyone tried it? What you think?

I am willing to splurge and try it rather than getting samples when I don't have a counter near me.

Any input will help thank you Smiley Happy

Re: All about Luxury skincare! Come in and chat about your skincare, treatments, tools and products

@dioraddict. I was playing with the brand again today in Barneys NYC.  I have the full ligne, except for the body .

I think the honey mud would be good for you, it is clarifying and has a clay base and all skin types can use it. Honey is a natural anti bacterial and the mud part will clean. Plus you don't want to strip your skin, but balance it and this cleanser would do that!

it is very thick like a paste and makes a great masque.

Like the ladies mentioned below, the problem solver is amazing. I used mine the other day. I make mine a little thicker than recommended using less water. It really deep cleans and my skin is very fresh and smooth and clarified after.

The Jasmine mist is not my fav, but it is refreshing and gets rave reviews.

I think the brand is nice if you also use actives, you can work this into your other product regime.

Pm me if you need sa info, mine is very generous with samples and phone consults. Smiley Happy

GL!

@dioradict I started using her products recently and I have  normal/combo skin with the occasional hormone related pimples.

I would definitely recommend the problem solver it is amazing!I have been using it 1/2 a week and it made a visible improvement in my skin.

The honey mud is an interesting and versatile product, but if you have oily skin I wouldn't recommend it to you as a cleanser on its own. I do use it as a cleanser occasionally in the morning, but need to use a flannel in the end - it does leave a 'film' on the skin.

I like it as a mask and it is great when combined with the problem solver.

My preferred use is to use it as a cleanser combined with the clean dirt. The combination reminds me of Tata Harper regenerating cleanser.

The clean dirt alone does remind me of the Tata Harper without that "creamy" base.

I love the Jasmine Garden and already have a back up - it smells absolutely divine. I reach out to it during the day specially when I am really stressed out. It's my liquid natural xanax lol. My skin (and nerves) love it! All things considered it's a face mist, the best one I've tried, but still a face mist.

If you order directly through May you can get really generous samples of her products!

Hope this helps!
