A calming soothing product…..without chamomile, feverfew or ragweed related ingredients

So this is something I wanted to mention  before, because I have noticed that many products aimed at healing, soothing or calming skin….all tend to have some form or chamomile, feverfew or related extract.  This came up for me again when I was looking online for a soothing gel.  I really wanted to get either the First Aid Beauty Aloe + Soothing Gel….or the Ole Henriksen All Purpose Aloe Vera Gel.

Unfortunately, the FAB has Feverfew and the Ole has Chamomile.  Actually all of FAB’s products contain feverfew.

Why do so many products aimed at sensitive skin or soothing contain ingredients that many people are allergic too?  There are tons of people with ragweed allergies….and these ingredients, i.e. chamomile and ragweed are part of the ragweed family.  So I am always afraid to purchase them.  Is something done in the processing of the product that removes what causes the allergy? Otherwise how can they put “allergy tested” or safe for sensitive skin on the label?

Hi Elizabeth1972. I would recommend taking a look at Korres Yogurt Cream.  It doesn't contain any of the ingredients you listed and works very well to soothe the skin.

Thanks Keelybt, I have actually used the Korres Yogurt Cream before, mostly in the winter....its too heavy for summer.  I have the weirdest combo of skin......most people who suffer from rosacea have dry skin, but mine is oily/combo and acne prone.  Any product designed to help one of these conditions, usually aggravates another of them.  But I am still on the hunt. :-)

If the cream is too heavy, they now have a Yoghurt Cooling Gel which is lighter.

Hrm... Can you give me the names of some of the derivatives are?

Although not 100% positive, Skyn Iceland's products might be worth checking out.  I tried typing in names (but not any chemical derivatives) and did not pull up any matches in the ingredients list.  Some of the products do have oat and at least one with mint.  Since Sephora is no longer carrying the brand, their official website can be found via search engine.

I have shopped with this brand a few times and found their customer service to be fantastic.  If unsure of all the allergy derivatives, contact them either through the e-mail they provide or calling the number.

I love their cleansers but do find their moisturizers and some of their other products a bit drying for dry skin.  This may work well better since you mentioned combo/oily skin.

Boscia from Sephora might be worth ingredient searching as well.

Best of luck!
