Hello! I have a question for those of you who have been to a dermatologist. Do they have some sort of skincare ingredient testing? For example, would they be able to say, You're allergic to Titanium Dioxide and Niacinamide. Or would they just say, You have sensitive skin. Avoid x, y and z. It seems like everything I try, even if the product says it's for sensitive skin, I break out in red spots/bumps which I assume are from allergic irritation. When I stop using the product, the bumps go away. The two products that I've been trying to look for are a moisturizer with SPF higher than 15 and something to lessen post acne marks. It has not been a simple task! Any insight or info would be so appreciated! Thanks.
I'm using Differin in its cream form (while also cleansing, toning, and moisturizing.) My moisturizer is Sheer Transformation from Ole Henriksen's line (in the blue jar,) and it's a cream, but it's very lightweight and not thick or heavy at all (so more gel like, but it "looks" thick.) I also use a cream-serum and a night cream from Eucerin that targets facial redness. All are creams. Is there a certain way I should layer them? I always moisturize before I apply Differin because my skin's a little sensitive to it and get's red when I apply DIfferin before I moisturize. I'm just confused on what happens after I moisturize...any advice?
I'm 13 and starting to breakout a lot. My face is half covered in pimples and i'm pretty sure it's the begining of acne. I'm not exactly sure which products I should and shouldn't use on my face. Any ideas?
Hi all! I've been browsing the forum and found many suggestions for acne scar treatments. So I was wondering what the best product is for acne scars? I don't want a spot treatment or a peel, but an overall face serum/treatment. But I don't want a face lightening product (I don't want to lighten my whole face/complexion). Also, can I use these acne scar treatments in conjunction with another serum (such as an anti-aging serum)? Thanks ahead of time for your advice/suggestions/answers!
For as long as I can remember, I've had these tiny bumps that gather around the inner corner of my eye and along my dark circles. I really, really hate them! They kind of look like chicken skin, but they don't really feel bumpy or anything. I've seen pictures of milia, and that is definitely not what I have. These little bumps don't ever go away and they never move. Some people say that they've started to notice this chicken skin under their eyes as they aged, but I'm a Sophomore and I've had this problem my whole life! I've done a little research, and so far all of the fixes have been really complicated and confusing. Please give me a solution! I like to take good care of my skin, but I'd much rather just buy a lotion or something than see a dermatologist. Thanks for all your help!
My skin is very oily/combo and has large pores. I also have redness and hyper pigmentation all over my face. I've tried samples of both Murad's and Clinque's products, and none of them have stung my face. However, both are pretty expensive ($50~~~) and I don't want to buy both because a) too much money and b) I don't want to overwhelm my skin with a slew of skincare products. I know Clinique can target anything that's wrong with your skin, while Murad's hydrator can only do so much. Has anyone tried both these products enough to recommend one over the other?
Okay, so I did a bit of searching and I couldn't find a satisfactory answer anywhere in the archives. I am adamant about wearing sunscreen whenever there is the remotest possibility of my skin seeing the sun. However, it always drives me nuts because it regularly pills like crazy. Both on my face and body and I'm not sure what's causing it or what I can do about it. I'm also afraid that if the sunscreen is pilling off, I'm losing the protection, which makes the whole slathering up endeavour worthless. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. ETA: ***Thanks to everyone who responded. I didn't realize how bizzaro this format would be when I posted this. I just thought I was putting it into a Q&A section on the forums. D'oh. Anyway, I really appreciate your comments and did comment back to each of you even though it's completely hidden unless you hover over the comment, apparently.***
I've been revamping my skin care and have set my eyes on 2 serums but im torn on which one to get. I have aging skin. I'm trying to decide between the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster and the Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Vitamin C Youth Activating Oil. I really like the oil because it has retinoids in it but I am already using another product that has retinoids in it. However the serum seems to have more vitamin c in it but the oil has rose hip oil and other oils. Which seems better for me?
Are there any body washes (sold at Sephora, or otherwise) that helps even out skin tone? I have discoloration from eczema on my arms and legs. I did light therapy for a few months and it improved a lot, but I was curious as to whether there was a product that I could use to help.
hi everyone my skin concern is underarm and the problem is that I am a dark thick haired person and I wax regularly and my skin looks like I just shaved as it looks green like a shaved underarm and I want to achieve underarm that is like my skin tone and Ive tried everything lemon and baking soda and everything else please help

After years of not really gaining weight, I suddenly put on about 10 pounds. I was underweight before and now I'm at 105 lbs. I needed the weight, but it's left hideous stretch marks on my legs and even my face. I usually hide the ones on my face with makeup, but my legs are bare. Does anyone have any stretch mark products they would recommend? And perhaps some body makeup too to hide the marks. I like wearing skirts and dresses, but the marks have made me a little more self conscience than normal. I've tried the cocoa butter stretch mark products, but they don't seem to have any effect.
I am very tired of having whiteheads and blackheads. I do use the clarisonic and I have used several cleansers and masks. I don't think that I have terribly oily skin and I have some wrinkles. I have used some products that have been too harsh on my skin. I use two different serum's which I do like. I don't like heavy feeling products on my skin. If I use a BB cream I only put it on the areas that I want to cover. I cleans my face, use a toner, and serum. Please advise me on some products that will be better than what I have been using (Biore charcoal cleanser, Aveno, and my serum is Rephacge and Avalon Organics). Thank you
So I have very combo skin and I've kind of neglected it for a little while and now my skin is having it's pay back. Its breaking out with smaller pimples while peeling, especially on the nose. My nose is a particular mess- its not deep black head type things that are difficult with a couple pimples and peeling dry all at the same time. And I had botox for my migraines and so I think that effected the way the oils in my forehead are too so it almost looks oily at times and yet it's kind of flaky at the same time.I also have these little bump type things on the skin under my eyes. I do have a clarisonic but i'm trying to figure out how much to use it and the best products to try and get this under control again. Any ideas or fave products? I'd prefer stuff without parabens if possible.
I was wondering which eye cream works the best and gives the best overall smoothness to the eye area.. 1. Cold Plasma Eye (by Perricone MD) 2. Premier Cru The Eye (by Caudile) They are both 95 .00 and I would like to know which is a better bang for your buck?? Thanks!!
I have been shaving my legs for a long time and I absolutely hate shaving cream. It irritates my legs so I don't use it. The problem is that my legs look dry and almost like i have scales even though they're completely smooth. I have a natural slight sun tan but because of the way the skin on my legs looks, the tan looks kinda splotchy. Any ideas or solutions would be AMAZING!
I've been using Clinique for about two years, so I want a change. I've also been breaking out more than usual recently. I haven't had problems with acne or sensitivity in the past, but now my skin is more combination/dry and acne-prone. I'm working on my diet and sleep, but other skincare tips are appreciated. I'd just like to try something new that might work for me. I'm looking for a combination of cleansers/toners/lotions/moisturizers/serums/oils/ etc. Thanks! Edit: I don't have a budget, if it's the right product it's worth any price to me!
I finally decided that I'm going to get a Mia as soon as a good 20% off promo comes along, but then while browsing at Target the other day I saw the Olay Professional Pro-X Cleaning System. It seems like it's the same thing as the Mia but for only $30! Has anyone tried both and can tell me if the Mia is really that much better?
Are there any really good, reliable Retinoid and Hydroquinone products that won't make my skin flake and peel? I have noticed that the retinoids, no matter what, usually make me peel like I'm getting over a sunburn. I usually only apply a thin layer once a day (at night before bed), but even that seems to be a bit much.
For a while I've been noticing that sometimes when I look in the mirror, and I hardly/don't wear makeup. It looks like I have like a shimmery, light brown (but tad bit darker than my skin tone) on my eyelid. I hardly do nothing/just put eyeliner on! But then when I do wear the whole shebang of makeup, it gets gray..Then I would have to cover it with Concealer. I have had dark circles, and bags, got rid of that...Now this? I would like to know what's up with it. Like what's happening? Oily? Dirty? Not enough nutrition? Lack of sleep? And how to fix it. Thanks
You know there's all that hoopla about how some people/study/expert say sillicone/mineral oil/petroleum jelly are bad for your skin, and how some people/study/expert swears by it? Unlike parabens, they are difficult to avoid even in organic/natural product (do you know if the ingredient ends in "-cone", it's most likely a form of silicone?). Some people claim it forms a protection barrier and some claim it hinders skin breathability (how is that different from make up?). So, what are your thoughts? do you swear by baby oil, vaseline etc? or do you hate them cuz of bad experience or such?
So, I recently had a laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis, and I was wondering if anyone out there knew of any good products for treating the incision scars. One of mine buckled a little while healing and is kind of raised and unsightly. I purchased some Vitamin E cream and lavender oil- has anyone had luck treating scars with these products? Recommendations for other solutions? Thanks!
Hi I used your Colour IQ to find recommendations for a foundation in the summer but I only remember the code for my skin tone: 1R13. What does this code mean and can I have the recommended foundations again please?
I really want to buy a Clarisonic Mia but I'm afraid that it might stimulate the hair on my face to grow thicker. I really don't want my peach fuzz to become more noticeable. I read this online: Topical hair growth is caused by sustained surface irritation to an area. These methods can stimulate the blood supply to an area, bringing more nourishment to the area. This can stimulate hair growth. Has this happened to anyone using the Clarisonic?
