how to get rid of freckles

I have some freckles on my nose, under my eyes, and on my forehead. They really bother me because it makes my face look dirty and very un-flawless! I was wondering if there is a product to make them disappear. I don't really want a lightnener, I want them to go away!! Please give me any reccommendations:smileyhappy:

Hi Gymchic,

I would agree ... freckles are part of your DNA and over the counter products will not make them fully go away. If you are wanting to get rid of them completely you would need to consult with a dermatologist to get something more aggressive done. For sure what would help make them not get any worse is always applying sunscreen even on a cloudy day.

I have freckles all over my face and I used to try so hard to get rid of them completely too. Cauadlie Vinoperfect helped get rid of the new ones caused by breakouts, but the ones I was born with ... I just learned to embrace and became a sunblock worshipper.

Caudalie - Vinoperfect Radiance Serum

Hi gymchic35,

I'm not 100% sure but I really don't think you can FULLY remove freckles without using a good exfoliator and a lightener (to brighten the skin) as well as a super strong SPF while keeping out of the sun. Freckles are usually brought on by UVA/UVB sun exposure so the only way to "remove" them I believe would be to just keep out of the sun entirely, keep applying SPF and using a brightening serum.

Hi Gymchic! I saw my dermatologist just last week with this very same complaint. She told me that freckles are the result of an increased amount of melanin in the skin (a pigment). UV exposure causes the body to produce an increased amount of melanin, which is why freckles become more prominent after being in the sun. Even though we can lighten them, almost to the point that they are not noticeable, the freckle will always be present and can darken again with sun exposure.

I have been using a 10% glycolic acid cream that my dermatologist prescribed since that appointment and I have seen vast improvement with the lightening of my freckles (they were not very dark, but quite noticeable). Now my skin reacted very badly at first with terrible rashing and burning, but it resolved in a couple of days with the use of aloe and hydrocortisone cream. Again, this is something that my dermatologist prescribed and I had no underlying skin conditions except for inactive acne. All of the freckles/moles on my face were checked to make sure there was no sign of skin cancer, etc....

Good luck and it's always best to take the advice of your dermatologist because he/she will know what products work best for your skin type, tone, problems, etc.

You can do a search on Sephora for "glycolic acid" and it will pull up multiple products in different forms with varying concentrations of glycolic acid! :smileyhappy:

While I don't have quite so many freckles, I think they make you look younger and I wouldn't want to get rid of them.  Staying out of the sun definitely helps them not appear, but I don't think the is a product that totally gets rid of them.  I've heard of something with lemon juice, but I'm not sure what it is.  I'd see a dermatologist and see if they have a better, more  permanentsolution. .

Freckles are beautiful! But if you don't want them, I can't think of a pernament way to get rid of them. But a good layer of foundation will disguise them.
