Hey I used st tropez mousse self tanner and it streaked but I exfoliated and put on lotion before use if any one knows any ways to get rid of streaking or dis coloration I would love to know
Thanks in advance
In an emergency, I've used a waterproof bronzer on the light areas to even out the color. It's such a pain to get streakiness, I really sympathize with you!
I agree with the recommendations already posted--in addition, maybe try using your regular exfoliator to help slough off that top layer of streaky bronzer.
In terms of self-tanning application, I've found a process that works pretty well (and I'm a very fair girl, so streaks MUST be avoided and flawless application is reguired or I look like a freak). Anyway, while in the shower prior to self-tanning, I shave and/or exfoliate--make sure your skin is smooth and exfoliated in order to prepare for application. Once out of the shower, I completely towel off and even wait a few minutes to make sure I'm completely dry. Once I'm dry, I apply a small amount of REGULAR lotion ONLY in places that are more susceptable to streaks (knees, elbows, back of knees, wrists, ankles, tops of toes, etc) then I let it sit for a few minutes. Then I begin self-tanning, applying the majority of product in areas that are NOT susceptable to streaking like shins & calves, stomach, thighs, butt, ect. then use whatever residual product remains on the more delicate areas. To be more specific, I DO NOT directly apply self-tanner to the areas like the knees and elbows, rather push the leftover product on top of those areas once I'm done self tanning that area (for example, I usually start with my legs, applying tanner to the shins and calves, then pushing the leftover product over my feet and toes, ankles, knees, and behind the knees).
So I do that all over my entire body, then once I'm done I wash my hands very well. Fearful of the streak between the hand and arm?? What I do is after I'm done washing my hands, I take a washcloth and drag the product thats on my arms down to my hands, in a kind of blending affect. My hands won't be as dark as the rest of my body with this method, but my hands never are darker anyhow! When I'm done doing that, I take the same washcloth and lightly dab on the delicate areas like the knees and wrists to make sure no extra product is there that could cause streaking.
Anyway, just thought I'd share how I self tan because it works really well for me and i NEVER have streaking (and like I said, streaking is super obvious on a fair gal!)
You have to make sure that you exfoliate and rinse well. You also need to lightly moisturize your hands, elbows, knees, ankles and feet. (Driest places on your body and only lightly moisturize) Apply with the mitt that they sell it seems to help in the application. Now I just want to put another suggestion for you out there, I thought forever that St. Tropez was the one and only but I researched on line and I am always a person looking for something better and I found xen tan deep bronze luxe. It is a weekly self tan and it is exactly that, you apply it once a week and also there is also just a 3 hour wait before showering and most of the others make you wait at least 8 hours, that to me is a big plus in its self. I hope this helps!
