Do you agree with her views on skincare products? I'm on a hunt for my Summer night serum & moisturizer. I think I'm going to purchase the Perricone Blue Plasma even though it stinks so bad of fish & I hate fish. I've been researching products a lot and one of the sites I was on was Paula's Choice. She is not a fan of the serum... Actually the more I read through her "beautypedia" reviews, it seems like she's not a fan of a lot of products. I also got a feeling she was mainly trying to push her own products and Olay. Examples: - She's against treatment cleansers since it's just "washed down the drain". I have to disagree with this. When I use a treatment cleanser, although they can be drying, I do see improvement in my breakouts. - Witch Hazel is bad. I find witch hazel to be an important ingredient when choosing a toner. She think it's just as bad as alcohol if not worse. Products she gave a "poor" rating to: - Anthony Logistic's Glycolic cleanser got a poor rating because it doesn't contain any glycolic acid. - doctor dennis gross's A/B pads since we can just skip step 2 by simply splashing water on our face to deactivate step 1. - Dior Capture Totale One Essential Serum because it's not a "miracle serum" since it's primarily just "water, slip agents, and alcohol" - ExfoliKate - Just about every Ole Henriksen product I love - Origins Checks & Balances, Charcoal Mask & every other decent product from them - Most Murad products I do agree with a few points she makes, like companies need to stop putting active ingredients in clear vials so the sun doesn't break down the properties of the treatment. Also jar packaging is a big no-no for her. I understand that some creams are too thick to be put in a pump, but what about those airless jars that Bosica & Dermadoctor are using? I hate sticking my fingers in jars & the air does break down the active ingredients over time... Overall though, I don't think I'll be going to her site when I'm researching a new product I want to try.
Hi,i am in my 30s .I have some chicken pox marks all over my face but the marks in forehead are more visible .Few months back two lines of wrinkles are visible on my forehead too.I have a dry skin . can you suggest some skin care regime with good products for sensitive skin to fade the marks/less visible.
Recently I tried different bad exfoliators from different brands. One of them was the Laura Mercier Facial Scrub but after using it, I still had some dead skin cells which spoiled my makeup... I also used the St. Ives Apricot Scrub and it was absolutely horrible! This thing broke me out! My face became red because this stuff is too harsh, abrasive and scratchy and actually caused me pain! What is your worse exfoliator experience and which one do you use now?
Hi All! I am turning to BT to see if anyone has a daytime/AM moisturizer they love. I have previously been trying a few samples but nothing has really been wowing me. I am in my 20s and have combo skin that can be acne prone. Now that it is getting cooler, my skin is becoming less oily and more combo. I am looking for a moisturizer that I can apply in the morning before applying makeup that will not leave me greasy or shiny, but will not leave my skin quenching for thirst throughout the day. What moisturizer are you using and why do you love it? Thank you!
Hello, I am planning on getting something for my boyfriend for Christmas that will help him take care of his face. He washes it with water and that's it. He has clear skin but he gets acne occasionally. His problematic area is his nose which has blackheads. Would the Clarisonic for men work? What about a cleanser that won't dry out his face? He does not use a moisturizer. I will greatly appreciate your help!!!
This may be a long post because I am going to try and provide as much information as possible to hopefully get some good replies. I normally use Proactive for my face. I am thinking about possibly trying something a Sephora instead if there are some better things I could use for my issues. About my face: Acne prone. My face breaks out very easily on my chin and on my checks. I would like something that could possibly clear it up AND/OR help stop the breakouts. My chin, cheeks, and forehead are also naturally oily, my old foundation looked horribly shiny so something to help with control would be nice. I do have a dry spot between my eyebrows (gets worse during the winter) I noticed my foundation would seem to barely cover the rest of my face but would look very cakey in the area between the eye brows. I went to Sephora last year and they gave me a sample of a peel to use between my eyebrows for that issue however I can not remember what it was. I have to order my products online as Sephora is a ways from my home. So I can't go in-store to get a consultation atm. I am also looking for a new foundatin routine which I will post in that topic. Any suggestions?? Thanks!
I've looked through some previous threads discussing Korean skincare but didn't see anything that discussed holy grail status brands or products specifically. I'm just getting into Korean skincare myself so I'm still trying things out and doing research to see what the best products are out there. I bought a few Tony Moly and Leaders sheet masks. I tried the Leaders Insolution AC-Dressing black sheet mask last night and I noticed a huge difference today! I only bought one to test it out but I will definitely be picking up a few! What are your favourite Korean brands or products? Line of products that a certain brand does really well? Sheet mask? normal mask? cleanser? toner? cream? serum? etc? Anything in particular a newbie like myself should check out?
Hi I am wondering if anyone can offer me any advice please. A few weeks I developed dark marks on my face. The marks appear over my top lip & on both cheeks. After seeking the advice from a dermatologist.. I have been told it is called MELASMA. Apparently my body is producing too much melanin. Is there any way that I can reduce the appearance? It is very noticeable & it is making me feel miserable.
I'm almost done with my current exfoliant, it's Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel. I want to try a new one, but I don't know which one I should get. What exfoliants are you using now, or do you like the most? Please share your favorites here!
i have had small invisible bumps on my face that can only really be felt, no one else can see them so everyone tells me not to worry about it. but they are massive to me, does anyone know any products to fix it or what could be causing it?
I'm in my mid 40s. Dry cheeks, sensitive skin, broken capillariescheeks, slightly oily t zone. i use Fresh Soy Cleanser to wash, unscented moisturizer from a mineral makeup company. Neostrata glycolic renewal smoothing cream 5% glycolic acid encapsulated (use once a week, no reaction) With the colder weather my skin feels tight and itchy. I'm considering adding a serum or oil for a extra boost of moisture. I don't need retinol based one I tried Fresh Seaberry but didn't like it. The scent bothered my skin, Any oil or serum rec's for my skin type? Thanks!,
I was wondering if anyone has tried out any of the Glossier items? I am curious a/b the GLOSSIER PRIMING MOISTURIZER? It sounds like a dream, best of both worlds! You get a good moisturizer (that actually moisturizers) & then kinda like a "Blur" + Semi-Tint" to go along w/ it. They sell a tint too. Anywho it has Hyaluronic Acid in it and a butch of other goodies to combat redness, dryness, ruddiness, etc. I don't have a beauty book & can't remember where it is on the skin tip. It's dermatologist tested & hypo ( and all that jazz). I was thinking about trying it, but since I just read about it ( and haven't heard anyone talk about it ), I am skeptical / afraid I suppose. SO, what do you think / know about it? I just bought some of the Belli Anti Blemish (Lactic Acid) face wash from Ulta & some Mario B. Rose Spray & I am trying to check out a diff. Moisturizer (like maybe GLOSSIER) or maybe the E. Lauder EE Cream & was wanting some suggestions. I am gonna keep the new bottle of Clinique Tinted Moisturizer (old but goodie) but I am trying to amp up yet simplify (time wise) my skin care routine. I have a lot going on at the moment. Thanks in Advance
dear sephorites please help me find a solution so my friends is a teenage girl about 14 years she presently isn't using any specialized face creams or products she is looking forward to having a soft skin with even tones i personally have noticed that as soon as she washes her face with soap ( again no specialization only ordinary soap) in some time it becomes rough but at middle of the day her face becomes oily and when she applies ordinary pressed powder on her face it appears to be porous she also has many pimple marks that are quite dark please suggest products for preventing the pimples and for removing their marks the pimples are not acne but a few that were caused by stress please consult suitable products thank you
I finally have a daily skincare that seems to be really working for me, including a moisturizer that I love (REN clearcalm3 replenishing gel cream), but I want to figure out a way to work in a daily SPF to protect my skin. Most of the SPF products I see, however, are moisturizers with added SPF. Any recommendations for sunscreens that I can wear on top of skincare products and under makeup?
Hello! I have some troubles with choosing a suitable cleanser for my face. I didn't wear any cleanser for the past 3 weeks (yup it's bad). I only wear my Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion and Cetaphil gentle moisturizer. Please suggest me on what type of cleanser is best for normal to dry skin that I should try. In addition, I have some milia under my eyes and some other places too. My undereye area is very dry and I have some wrinkles/dark circles (I'm only 15, save me) Also, I would like to know if I should add more steps to have a really good skin? I don't have any day/night cream etc. I also have been trying to find a waterproof sunscreen because I sweat a lot and now I have uneven skintone. Besides that, can you suggest any products that I should try to overcome my dryness? Thank you.
My eyelashes are falling out on my right eye more so than the left and seemed to start after I used an Estee Lauder makeup remover a couple years ago. Ever since then I don't know if the lashes weakened or what but my lashes come out (at least a couple per night). I tried washing with tea tree and even put maracuja oil etc. I don't know what to do. I also use Tarte mascara. Help!!! They are much thinner on the one eye than the other and I don't wear makeup daily either (quite a few days go by with no makeup at all)...
So I have been in search of a new cleanser I currently use Fresh Soy Face Cleanser & Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion. I do use Retin-A as well every other day for acne flair ups. So it feels like Fresh isn't cleaning my face anymore and I don't feel like I'm really getting all the dirt. Now it has suddenly gotten really cold where I'm at and my skin has been super dry this whole week to the point of flaking. What is a good cleanser that will remove all the dirt along with a good hydrating moisturizer that wont cause me to breakout. I have combination skin (oily T-zone dry cheeks and chin) with acne prone skin. Thank you!!
I have very sensible skin. sometimes i break out out of no where for no reason. i use acne treatments but they do not help at times. i always have acne which is fustrating, my face peels at times from where it gets dry. what kind of products could i use? and what type of foundation is recomended?
I bought three different 24k Donna Bella products from Hautelook recently because I thought it was a much less expensive way to try the brand. I tried one of the products the other night - the 24k Deep Facial Peeling. It left an awful gum residue on my face that actually balled up and got stuck on every facial hair on my lower jaw/chin area. I had to use alcohol to remove it. I am wondering if Hautelook sold expired or bad product? It is also a non-returnable final-sale item, and Hautelook is refusing to take it back. Has anyone else tried this product? If so, does it really do this, or did I get a bad product? I am now afraid to try the other products I bought because I have to wonder about their freshness/authenticity. Thanks!
In my 27 years, I have had my eyebrows waxed three times. Each time years apart, at a different reputable salon with great reviews after doing research. The last time I went a few weeks ago, they convinced me that the wax was extremely natural and fragrance free and would be fine for me. Yet, within 2 minute, I broke out in horrible, large, extremely itchy hives. For over 4 days, my skin was the color of a tomato, and the itchy hives would not subside. I tried hydrocortisone cream, fresh aloe and ice (separately). My allergist told me to take benedryl which reduced the size of the hives on my face and it temporarily helped with the itch (and made me sleepy) - but I need a solution!!! Tweezing is just not enough for me, especially when I need them shaped well. Are there alternative waxes or hair removal techniques that create the perfect "shape" of waxing for those with sensitive skin?
Just noticed today that Caudalie has discontinued the Vinexpert line of products. Other sites are recommending a new Resveratrol product: New: http://m.sephora.com/product/P400608 Old (since Sephora's listing is no longer active): http://us.caudalie.com/shop-products/collections/v inexpert/vinexpert-firming-serum.html Can anyone with skincare ingredient knowledge share any info about how the new product compares to the Vinexpert line or if another product entirely might be a better new option (looking at the Premier Cru Elixir Serum).
Hi there! I usually wash my face with my Luna for Men in the shower and then I shave with an electric razor. From there I spray my toner and apply my FAB moisturizer and eye cream. However, I've noticed after I shave I have some redness from my shave. I have never used an aftershave, but I am pretty sure that's it's whole purpose of exisiting, correct? If I invest in aftershave balm (if you think that's the way to go). Am I still able to use my moisturizer, or should I discontinue it? I've noticed some aftershaves have moisturizing included in them as benefits... Please help!
So I'm testing out cleansers and I read on FAB's website that their cleanser has a ph of 6.5, only slightly more acidic that your face. While your body may have a ph of 7, the skin mantle has an acidity level of what, 4.5-5.5? Lower than 6.5, anyway. I'm really dithering about whether or not to even try this product. I mean, if they got the basic ph of the face wrong, what else is next? I have acne-prone skin and I have found that the best way to avoid breakouts is to really keep my skin acidic. Does anyone else pay attention to the ph levels of products?
I'm 19, combination skin. i have a few dark spots on both cheeks after breakout 2 years long ago. I'm looking for products that can fade away my skin problems and help my skin glowing and tighten my pores too.
the house i just moved into has very hard water. i have acne-prone sensitive skin, and i've noticed already that i have more buildup under my skin that i've never had before. i was wondering if there's anything you can suggest - a specific product, or a change in my routine..... i'm currently using Simple Brand cleanser with the Foreo mini, First Aid Beauty acne pads, and Vichy night detox/ acne moisturizer.
I'm 22, combination skin. I am dark skinned which gets burnt and damaged very easily when exposed to sun. Even though I try to limit my exposure, there is still a lot of damage caused and its taking forever to reverse the process. Any products that might help restore my natural skin tone and protect it from further damage? I look forward to your suggestions.
